An anonymous Mudflatter in Juneau was taking an evening walk past the Governor’s mansion, found the following political sign in the yard, and sent it to Mudflats for all to enjoy!
Presumably, the Governor herself is not an Obama supporter….however, it looks like quite a few of her neighbors are. The following images were passed on by a different Junea Mudflatter. I’ve circled the Obama signs, and pointed with a red arrow at the Governor’s mansion. Looks like Juneau is ready for change!

Off-Topic, and I apologize, but I’ve looked everywhere else and need help verifying or debunking a chain email.
A friend who is afraid of socialism(!) and who is, therefore, voting for McPain, sent me an email with the subject “Web Archives Confirm Barack Obama Was Member Of Socialist ‘New Party’ In 1996.” The entire content of the email is here:

I have web-searched, searched PolitiFact, FactCheck, etc., and can find nothing that addresses any of the claims in this email. Of course, it’s false, but I would like to get back to my friend with specific facts on why the various parts of this complex hoax can’t be true. Can anybody help?

Too true. My friend is a Southern Baptist (we’re both in SoCal, now) and we’ve had many hours of great conversations – none on politics. You think you know someone, then something like this pops up and whoa, there! Where did THAT come from?? It’s been my experience that very religious people have given over their thinking to their church, and can no longer (or have forgotten how to) think for themselves. I guess I have hopes of bringing her to her senses if I can introduce some logic into her fantasy.
Yup- live in Juneau, work near the gov’s mansion (tanning bed and all) and snicker every time I drive by and see the signs. Clearly she has not endeared herself to her neighbors- guess she never had the chef whip up muffins for the nabe before she fired (oops, reallocated) her. Even Piper’s darling trampoline and pot bouy have not been enough to convince the folks here to vote for the Saracuda.

Thank you Mr. Bright and Shiny Future. After months of every msm source picking through the life of Sen. Obama, this little tidbit, which you proudly proclaim has not been debunked, should be the soul reason we supporters turn on him? We all know that at least short term, the legislature isn’t going to take any action.
In an effort to keep this issue in the forefront and to get to where many of us want to end up, ACTION needs to start immediately. First, there has to be a legal mind from Alaska that is part of the movement. Someone has to learn what ALL the options are that can be taken NOW!! Partitions (centure, resignation, impeachment), rallys, maybe a “STOP SP fund needs to be established to cover costs of litigation, law suits, requests for hearings, etc., etc., etc. The heat needs to be turned up IMMEDIATELY with as much statewide and national exposure as possible.
Someone could create a “DRAFT WALT MONEGAN FOR GOVERNOR” web site. His slogan and his message would be, “A proven leader whose very name is synonymous with HONESTY, INTEGRITY AND THE TRUTH. A governor you can finally believe and a governor you can finally believe in”. If elected, his very first item on his “TO DO LIST” would be to review the backgrounds, experience and qualifications of ALL prior state apponitments and take the necessary steps to bring the very best people into state government. This DRAFT WALT MONEGAN movement would most certainly get everyone thinking, especially SP.
These are but a few of my ideas which, I’m sure, are shared by many Alaskans.
CRITICAL!!! This or any other plan moving forward needs to begin IMMEDIATELY.

But if you read the link kindly provided by Desert Islander at 23:16:40, you will see that it totally IS debunked. “Left-wing critics of the New Party, such as supporters of the Green Party, argued that the New Party was merely a pressure group on the fringes of the Democratic Party, rather than a genuinely new political party.”
So, NJM and Intrigued et all, it wasn’t even a real party, much less a socialist party. It was part of the fringe of the hard left of the Democratic party. Obama ran unopposed in 1996 so every group on the south side of Chicago supported him. NJM, please give that Daily Kos link to your friend!

Intrigued, you sound rather sad. I am concerned for you in general. It is a bit as if because the world is not perfect, by some arbitrary standards that are passively aquired or actively chosen, then the effort is not worth it.
Well, perfection and humanity are mutually exclusive. It is simply the human condition.
The overwhelming evidence leads me to the conclusion that Obama is more than what I could have hoped for. Obama possesses the intellect, curiosity, openness, and resilience to deal with the dreadfully imperfect situation in which our country now exists.
Moreover, the national and international condition facing us has been brought about largely by a man possessing the polar opposites of the desirous Obama traits–mediocrity, incuriosity, closemindedness, and rigidity.

There is video today of McMelanoma and he has a fairly large lump (yea, i know his whole face is a lump) but this is new.. It’s next to his nose under his left eye. It’s fairly pronounced and depending on how the sunlight hits him, it’s easily visible. The question is could this be another melanoma or is it nothing..
Sad to think bad of anyone who might be sick, but using the Christian right’s opinion that evil comes out in all forms, maybe his evil is coming out in the form of new skin cancer.

For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides “The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.””
The concept of the public trust relates back to the origins of democratic government, and its seminal idea that; within the public, lies the true power and future of a society, therefore, whatever trust the public places in its officials must be respected.
One of the reasons why bribery is regarded as a notorious evil is that it contributes to a culture of corruption in which public trust is eroded.
A famous example of the betrayal of public trust is in the story of Julius Caesar, who was killed by Roman senators who believed they had to act drastically to preserve the republic against his alleged monarchical ambitions. It is an interesting concept, nevertheless.
America can now be not so proud to add another not so famous incident of rape of the public trust.

Just my advice as a previously long time registered Republican: You will give the other side more cud to chew on if you go in costumes. It is still too far away from Halloween IMO. The Republicans will infer that you are too cowardly to show your faces in this protest or some such other rot. A lot of people (like the remaining undecideds) might think this a credible argument. I know its too late…the protest is probably under way now, but maybe some will see this and reconsider. You could always do another protest closer to Halloween (and Election Day) in your Halloween costumes. Just a thought.
Otherwise, Thank You to Stephen Branchflower, the Alaskan Legislature, the Citizens of Alaska, and especially Andrew Halcro who is taking a lot of guff for having outed SarahandTodd Palin’s activities. Palin should never have been even THIS close to the presidency. Thank you again!

I was at the VERY RAINY rally this morning from beginning to end – except that I was unable to stay for the music that played after the speakers spoke and the crowd began to mingle with each other, hugging, saying hello, saying “Great Job!” to the various speakers. I’m sure others took better pics than me, since I was at the front of the group listening to the speakers and couldn’t see all the people and signs behind me. I don’t know how many people were there, at least 300, I think? There were people counting us so that number will be announced later. To the forum posters who think the KKK or some weird right wing groups might “infiltrate” the crowd – well I guess you’ve never been to Juneau! No weirdos there, just lots of familiar, wet faces smiling to each other and the speakers – even though some of the signs were suffering structural integrity from the rain. There were some costumes, many signs were covered in plastic, and even the dogs who came with their owners barked appropriately while the speakers voiced their concerns about Gov. Palin not caring or supporting Alaska’s residents, issues, wildlife, resources, social issues, and children. The rally was very fun, and I’m sure the rain pouring down over our hoods and ball caps just made it that much more fun. The speakers included a University of Alaska student. a couple of local fisherman, a couple Alaskan Natives (one is an attorney) , a doctor, and former State of AK Commissioner. Our local press was there with some of their cameras covered in jackets to protect them from the rain. All in all, it was a good day in Juneau! I will send pics to AKMuckraker and I’m sure there will a lot more sent in as well. Thanks to EVERYONE for your support!!!
Oh yes, I forgot – the Gov Mansion sign is gone. I circled the mansion a few times just before the rally at 10 just to make sure. I giggled the whole time and now will not be able to drive by the mansion without giggling. Lots of Obama window signs around the neighborhood! There would be yard signs, too but we haven’t been able to get the orders for them filled.
WOW! A few viral internet marketers for the Obama campaign spreading their hate on the blogs again as if they were far, far larger in numbers than they plainly really are. last night while posting on the forum at the Anchorage daily news, I saw this post and copied it. It includes a link to a glowing letter of recommendation written by then Mayor of Wasilla, Sarah Palin on behalf of Mike Wooten sent to the State Troopers. What is really interesting is that this letter is written on official mayoral letterhead…which is normally a huge no no!. You do not recommend your brother in law for a job on mayoral letterhead (mayor’s stationery). Any such recommendation should have been relayed on personal stationery.
