It appears the site is crashed again. Sigh…
So, for those of you who find our Emergency Meeting Place, please note the following:
If you are in Anchorage, Fairbanks or Juneau, stop by McAdams headquarters and they’ll put you to work on the phone banks! This last minute push is critical. New polls are out and ALL are good news for Scott. He’s within the margin of error and support continues to grow. It’s last minute efforts that will make the difference!
Also, there is a rally for Scott McAdams tonight at Carpenter’s Hall on Denali & 4th in Anchorage. Come get pumped up for a Get Out the Vote effort! This is it! See you there from 6-7:30.
***Note from Linda***
Jeanne is out and about and I’m sure she will post a bunch of her great pictures later. I was there earlier (and came home earlier) so here are a couple to start you off.
Here’s Scott surrounded by his wife, kids and supporters while being interviewed (via satellite) on Greta Van Sustern’s show…yes, Fox News.
I could tell having Scott’s family here from Sitka was good for him. His son (the dark-haired little boy in the front) is quite the bundle of energy!
Candidate for Gov. Ethan Berkowitz was also there and AK Sen Hollis French was the enthusiastic Master of Ceremonies.
On my way home (sigh) it started snowing. I’m hoping we just get a dusting or I’m afraid how the first snow of the year might effect the voting. Here’s hoping the main Mudflats site is up soon, the snow stops and the voting is through the roof!
Glad the emergency meet-up is up and running. Go Scott! Go Ethan! Go Harry!
Anyone else having problems with Discus/ADN comments today?
Sorry 😦 I hate it when mudflats goes down. But I am happy to know that we can continue to meet here 🙂 I hope Scott has a wonderful rally tonight and that his sunny face brightens the dark winter days in Alaska. Go SCOTT!
I have had problems with Discus / ADN comments on some stories but it was working fin on others.
I had the impression that ADN shut off comments on some . . .
Okay, I just ran a test. Forget my previous comment.
Some ADN article comments are using “Discus” and some are using “Pluck.” Both systems are working. It just looks different.
great, emergency plan works.
moose pucky- i have had problems with comments for about a month. i called them and was told i was the 4 person to complain and all the callers were using safari. they were working on it, but i still am having problems, that has been 2 weeks now. spouse uses firefox and has no problems.
it is crashed, and i’m really disappointed. been gone to DC over the weekend and i was really looking forward to catching up. see you sson!
Feel free to use this as an open thread as well. Also, you can follow me on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/mudflats or find me on Facebook as Ak Muckraker and there’s also a Mudflats fan page.
check!
will be checking in at McAdams HQ tonight.
Go Scott!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks AKM!
I wish I could be there but my heart and mind is with you all. Go Scott!! Kudos to all the Progressives and Democrats and working their hearts out for this effort! I’m worried about Patty Murray here in WA. Today Rossi moved ahead of her by 2 points in the polls! It is going to be a nail biter all over the country.
it is soooooo lonely in here.
and kinda dark. and scary.
and I’m in purgatory, fawnskin…
actually, it’s moderation but it feels like the twilight zone…
My first comment is in moderation. 😦 It was a very supportive one!
I agree fawnskin…..very quiet and lonely.
Scott kicked ass and took names on Lawrence O’Donnell tonight!
Oh no – there are manny of us here:-) Just jumping in and out while we watch the national news!!
(((((Fawnskin)))))…po baby
Never fear fawnskin, LMD is here.
I voted for Scott today!!! Lots of people were there voting early. I like filling out my ballot by hand and putting it in a ballot box instead of in the diebold machine. Didn’t see any hinky stuff going on.
Talked to an aquaintance who is a poll worker and boy is she PO’d at an Fagan. she said the write in list is at least 4-5 pages long now. Apparently all ballots from voters that request help are being sequestered.
I was polled by Lisa’s campaign this weekend. wonder how that one came out?
Hi Momma bubbles!!! (waving madly)
Did you get to jump rope with the Muslims at the rally? I LOVED that story.
Yep, this doesn’t have the same mojo as the other site. Hope things get worked out soon. Hi Fawnskin and Bubbles…good to meet you both this weekend!
Scott McAdams was simply awesome on Lawrence O’Donnell this evening! Such clarity and integrity.
Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight.com was on later, and said that McAdams has a real chance of winning the election tomorrow.
Vote McAdams!
mudpups! come to the treehouse! http://03.chat.mibbit.com/
crap…my comment went to moderation
come to the Mibbit treehouse!
test
AKM, I cannot help wandering if the site crash was caused by outside parties?
Eyes wide open, so good to see you.
Outside/inside parties messing up the comments at ADN also, too.
I do know that both the Washington Post and New York Times have reported the Alaska Senate race as a TOSS UP.
So there it is. Alaskans are going to decide tomorrow, I guess.
Is it going to be Joe the Miller.
Murky the corporate Lurky.
or Scott McAdams, the big guy from Sitka that we all love.
????
Thanks, AKM, for the family emergency plan. Glad to see some familiar faces here at the bus stop.
I’ve been working on a lot of dems thinking of voting for Lisa and sent my final “what are you people thinking?” email out yesterday. Got a bunch of responses saying they have seen the light and are voting for McAdams. If we all do our part…
Not only is it lonely over here…..it is dark and cold in moderation! Can someone let me out? 🙂
Just got home from working the phones at Democratic Headquarters in Fairbanks. Lots of energy there. Lots of poll watchers getting organized and ready. Lots of tired workers, but lots of positive thinking!
Good to hear that, fireweed.
Just saw report on Alaska Senate election on Nightline. They said they definitely will not know the results tomorrow and if there are legal questions regarding write in votes, it may be December before they have the results. So, strap yourselves in up there it looks like it’s going to be a bumpy ride. Go Scott!
I caught a little of the previous story about Palin and the dust up about whether she is qualified to be president and if her own party is trying to knock her out. The reporter ended up saying that Palin was brilliant because she has positioned herself to run and the media is focused on watching her and waiting. I feel a little sick to my stomach.
Good luck all –
Keeping fingers crossed for Scott McAdams tomorrow –
hope he pulls 55%
GO DEMOCRATS….slinking of to my Irish corner now.
Testing
Here is a nice “time out” from all the insanity. The visuals and music are beautiful and of course, the story is sweet. Enjoy.

Go Scotty. Thank you all volunteers and poll staff. You guyz & galz did a great job of promoting a great candidate.
Best wishes to all of you. Bring home the “big” bacon.
May this site crash be an omen for miller’s and lisa’s incoming crashes.
oh, MY. This feels just like the 2008 election, being here again! I think I might go look through the dusty filing cabinets for that fabulous November night … that winning feeling …. the champagne and the tears of joy …
FIRED UP! READY TO GO!
Hi, Mudpups! I put on my tinfoil yarmulke, consulted the stars, and I predict that Scott will win, and even more confidently predict that “said-it-wasn’t-so” Joe will lose.
It makes gut sense, in that it boils down to two questions: (1) “Do I want somebody new?” and (2) “Do I want somebody nuts?”
Sleep well!
Please include Wisconsin in your prayers, for Tom Barrett, our smart, educated
experienced Milwaukee mayor for governor, and the best Senator ever,
Russ Feingold. Predictions are poor for them, and Wisconsin voters can be
really stupid…think Joe McCarthy.
I know everyone has their own challenges and nightmares right now,
but any extra energy of kindness and freedom from fear you can
direct our way, would be really good.
And for the whole damn country.
Wow…
kind of nice to see the older mudflats.
I have to admit Alaska politics are anything but boring!
If I remember correctly this older site was getting hit by trolls pretty bad, and the moderation was set pretty strong.
I did not realize how much I liked the reply feature of the new and improved site. So my reply to everyone – hurray and yay for a great day tomorrow with folks smiling and voting for Scott in happy droves! Go Scott!
It’s kind of nice to come back home, but then I realize that I can’t add my comments to a comment. So, I have to say I’m worried for Patty Murray as well. Rossi is such a slimy git I can’t believe he gets as much support as he does from them east side of the state. I had really hoped that wouldn’t be a close vote. Argh.
Go, Scott McAdams! One thing I’ve realized this year is that it really does matter who wins in other states and we have to pay attention to all the cnadidates.
Up at 5:30 tomorrow morning to hit the polling site at 6:30 to poll watch all day!
Looking forward to it — may the force be with Scott!
Watched Scott on MSNBC tonight—–I pray that he wins BIG TIME!!!!!
Heard the witch from Wasilla is now calling politicans “bastards”
Wow—-she is really ticked off. HA HA HA!!!!!!
@ Bear Woman.
I’m doing poll watch tomorrow here in my district tomorrow. Most people here vote by mail by a few do wait and go to the poll. Good luck to you all up there in Alaska and wish us luck here in Washington. I can’t believe the gains Rossi has made here in the polls. It is frightening!
Just wanted to report that we had a good night at the Juneau office. We had lots of people all over the floor including calling in the hallways. Everyone is a bit tired but very excited. We had a good night of phone banking. Tomorrow we will be sign waving, phone calling (I think) and poll watching. If anyone wants to join us to wave signs we are out numbered by the Murkowski camp and can use all the help we can wrangle up. We are meeting up at the bridge and by Nugget Mall around 6:30 AM and then again around 4 PM. So, grab your rain gear and come on out to support our next AK Senator.
I’ve been having problems with any site using Disqus for a couple weeks now. occasionally I can read and post, buy most of the time I get the message, “problems loading disqus?”
Hi Bearwoman! I’ll never forget the great time we had visiting with you guys in Juneau a year ago. I made it to the Mudflats after party in Washington over the weekend.
Hi folks…still not sure what is going on with the other site. Jeanne is working on it and trying to catch up after being gone. I’ll check the comments and let them through as often as possible tonight, for those who never posted at this site before.
My stomach is in knots and the snow isn’t helping. I’m not sure I’ll be sleeping much tonight…and ALL of us will be at the big election night shindig tomorrow! Shannyn will be broadcasting from there and will be on the air a total of 7 hours tomorrow!
Yes we can — get out the vote!
Found a link to Scot’s interview with Greta. I hate to link to Faux….but he did such a great job I hope you all will forgive me.

The cause of the other site crash is still a mystery but Jeanne is working on it and trying to catch up with everything since she’s been gone. I’ll check the comments as often as possible to let them through. (Those of you who never posted on this site before)
I’m very nervous and excited…my stomach is in knots and the snow isn’t helping. I think everyone has done what they can and it’s in the hands of the voters now.
vj, this does feel just like 2008. I remember turning the television sound down when someone said we were losing and turning it up when it seemed like we were winning. Nail biting and anxious, but received great encouragement right here on Mudflats. Yep, it really does feel like 2008. I just hope we will be celebrating tomorrow, just like 2008!! Yes we can!!!!
really digging being back on the old site with election anticipation – it’s 2008 all over again! Obama, Begich, and soon, McAdams!
But if anyone visits here today, I have a question. I am able to see all replies to comments here on old site, but cannot get past page 1 on the new Mudflats site. Any thoughts or advice? Thanx.
anyone here yet? MF having the vapors over waiting for election results…
anyone make it here-

Crap! The Mudflats crashed again. First returns in. McAdams in third place, so far. C’mon, Scott!
It’s one thing to register a write-in name, but actually voting for that person, doesn’t it dilute the vote of the candidate you want? Otherwise it doesn’t screw up the actual voting (though may slow down the count). Can’t figure out if that hurts Murkowski or Miller or Adams more. Hundreds of people voting for dozens of write-ins can only keep them from voting for whom they really want. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
