Apparently the irresistable siren song of the swing set has lured Brian the moose back to the yard. And as we have established that Brian is really more of a grand idea, than any one particular moose, you will notice that this one is sans antlers, and therefore a female. Brenda?
After the original Brian got the swingset tangled in his antlers and dragged it into the woods, we retrieved it, and set it back in place. Now, it seems obvious that the appeal, whatever it is, crosses the gender gap. Brenda rubbed her head all over the bars and played with the swings for a little while – long enough for me to snap this picture.
Never a dull moment in Alaska.

With the Republicans doing everything they can to purge voter rolls it’s important to verify your voter registration. Even if you’ve voted recently just double check that nothing has been done to steal your right to vote from you. You can go to this website to check if your registration is still valid and all your information is correct as well as telling you where you vote at:

For my state it also gave a sample ballot so I know the ballot questions for my state (such as approving early voting which is a good thing). I guess the important thing to remember is that if the Republicans can’t win honestly they will do whatever they can just to win. Republicans hate to govern but they do like to win and that means stopping as many people as possible from voting.
So check your registration!! Do it now so if there is a problem you have the time to correct it.

I just read that article before coming over here…this whole thing is unreal! It reminds me of the unraveling that occurs in the case of abuse…often it only takes one brave person to come forward to allow others to feel safe in bringing their own complaints and concerns.

Regarding the daughter at the Flyers game, I think that was Willow, the second eldest daughter who is not the one rumored to be pregnant or have already given birth. But a valid question is WHERE is the supposedly pregnant Bristol….It would appear she is off nursing her now about six month old son somewhere out of sight.

On Keith Oberman last night, there was a gentleman that was being interviewed about the construction of the Palin’s house in Wasilla. Best I could determine…sorry it was during my shower…..this man is an investigative reporter and it struck him odd that the house was built during the same time period as the civic center in Wasilla. It also struck him funny that First Dud built it with some “contractor” friends. So far, he said that he found out that the same person that provided materials for the civic center, provided materials for the house. He said that it was hard to connect the dots since Wasilla did not require building permits. I am interested in how all this comes out. Looks like the Falins are going to have their hands full once they return to Alaska November 4th or 5th defending themselves with all the allegations that are floating around.

Just wanted to give a plug for Rachel Maddow (MSNBC). She did a great job last night when talking to Frum. What is it about right wing conservatives and figuring if they just keep talking they will make sense? Or maybe just overload our heads with their inconsistencies that we’ll explode?
Anyway, Rachel just listened to him have his say, and then succinctly expressed what he had said, (he was comparing the Democrats with the nut jobs in the McCain rallies) and then let him have it.
It was wonderful to see.
She also did a thing on Palin lying about being cleared in the report. And yes, she said lying. Rachel mentioned you’re not supposed to say that about a politician, but that when it was necessary, she had to. I’m glad she did.

We all crowded together on the couch to watch it on local tv. (He was brilliant and funny and warm). I recently asked her if she watched the debates and she said “Of course not!” as if only idiots would watch. Then she got mad when I tried to reason with her. Love the picture of Brenda. We don’t have moose in southern Iowa, but lots of deer. They visit our backyard at night and love the corn we put out to feed the birds and squirrel.—I just received an e-mail from brasscheck. this is one scary video. I also have the impression that “W” is none too happy with McCain and that may influence the paper’s editorial staff. I think he’s still riled over the convention disinvitation and McCain’s stunts over the bailout. If you recall “W” commended Obama’s contribution to the bailout, but failed to include McCain. A lot of other people are seeking to distance themselves too. They want to avoid being caught on deck when the campaign sinks under the weight of its own egotistical mismanagement. i just read the full ADN story on monegan’s request that the personnel board investigate palin’s allegations with respect to his job performance.
this entire situation defines the disaster that is the republican party.
if sarah palin had simply acknowledged inappropriate behavior, troopergate would have been an easily overcome blip on the national radar.
if sarah palin had simply allowed the legislature’s investigation to go forward, troopergate would still not be the disaster for her that it will surely be.
because sarah palin has not an iota of sense in her head, she winds up with a can of worms open that nothing can close. if nothing else, her handling of the scandal demonstrates that she is inherently unqualified to handle the demands of the office of president or vice president.

I don’t remember the exact figures, but CNN was showing the (un)favorables on McCain last night and the split has now widened from the 50/50 figure in the bad direction. I think Obama’s have changed also in the ‘good’ direction.

I used to live in Minnesota and my sister lived in the town of Rochester (famous for the Mayo Clinic). They had a staggering goose problem–thousands of them would congregate on the banks of the river and goose poo was a serious aesthetic and health concern. Some enterprising artist started collecting the stuff, drying it out and making it into sculpture. Not sure what the market for her artwork was or that that would be a very good idea in these days of avian flu, but it was a clever solution to a big, stinking problem.

A most interesting interaction between Biden and his crowd today in Warren, OH. The article is on HuffPo here:

But the take-away is this:
“Biden told the Warren audience that there’s a fundamental difference between the Democratic and Republican tickets. Then someone in the audience shouted, “Brains!” The Delaware senator laughed and the crowd cheered.”
Just maybe we’re turning a corner in this country, where we want more from our leaders than for them to be someone to have a beer with. Given that Warren is in a 3-county area about to become eligible for assistance from the Appalachian Regional Commission, could it be that even Palin’s vaunted Joe Six-Packs are beginning to see that it takes brains to run a country well?

It has been a month since John McCain’s running mate waved goodbye to Alaska from the stage at the Anchorage convention center and flew off to America on assignment to rouse the Republican base. Since then those of us she left behind here in the subarctic have not seen hide nor hair of her.
But from what I’ve seen of her on TV Sarah seems to have been doing a pretty good job of it, hop scotching from Nevada to Florida and back again making John McCain’s last best case for his candidacy, which is that Barack Obama is unfit for the presidency because he’s on speaking terms with a “terrorist” named Bill Ayers.
For those too young to remember Bill in his prime, in the 1960s Bill Ayers, who today is a college professor neighbor of Barack Obama’s in Chicago, was a full of his own shit rich kid who thought that busting plate glass windows out of storefronts along Michigan Avenue and setting off homemade pipe bombs in the men’s room of the Capitol in Washington, D.C., would persuade Richard Nixon to end the Vietnam War. As a consequence of that and similar nonsense Bill, ended up underground for some years. But for Bill, those were good years because he got to spend them with Bernadine Dohrn, the Angie Jolie of the New Left, who he made an honest woman of when they were on the run and to whom, being a practitioner of the family values that Sarah Palin cherishes, he’s still married.
I mention that because each time she’s thrown it out like a piece of raw meat to the sanguinolent roar of the crowds she’s been inciting on the campaign trail, the national media has dutifully reported without much comment Sarah’s rote accusation that Barack Obama hobnobs with “terrorists”. But to the best of my knowledge not a single reporter has asked Sarah whether prior to having been told by Steve Schmidt to memorize that sound bite she had ever heard of Bill Ayers?
If I get a chance when she’s back in Alaska next month I’ll ask her myself. When I do, since Sarah Palin was 5-years-old and living in Wasilla during the Days of Rage, I’ll bet the mortgage that she has no idea who Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn are, what the Weathermen were, or what the acronym “SDS” stands for.

I am so glad you wrote this piece. I am 47 years old, and I have never heard of this guy, until this election cycle, nor had any of my friends. Now I know why. The McCain/Palin campaign has made it sound like 9/11. I could find very little information, but one thing I was sure about, is that Obama was 8 years old when it happened. And I knew his actions were in protest to the Vietnam War, like so many others. I also felt, that Mr. Ayers current position, would be disallowed, if it had been as “extreme” as they are trying to make it out to be.
Palin associating Obama with Mr. Ayers, has caused quite a bit of unrest, and much criticism from both Democrats and Republicans. Both Palin and McCain are unapologetic, she said today, and I quote, “I have nothing to lose, attacking Obama”. I wonder how Senator McCain feels about that?

they were in black helicopters……..sitting on the edge of the helicopters with guns pointing out……….landing on top of buildings……….this happended the night obamba was in denver………didn’t the police pick up a couple of guys afew days eairler who said they were supposed to shoot him in denver…….the the police came back and said “sorry they were on drugs” that was it….it scared me
