Yes, you heard Palin right. In her speech to the adoring masses in far away Georgia, she explained why she fled her responsibilities in Alaska. She explained why she used her precious time to stump for Saxby Chambliss instead of doing her job. She did it….for Alaska. (One hand on heart, one hand dabbing eyes, and an imaginary third hand waving the Alaskan flag) She did it for me, and for the little children, and for their puppies, and for future generations, and for the country! God Bless Amairca. (sniff)
I’m kinda selfishly lookin’ at this to tell you the truth. It’s not just for Georgia, this is for folks in Alaska and in Hawaii, and in Maine and in Washington State and in Washington D.C. I’m lookin’ at this you know I’m a mom with five kids. This is for my kids and their future…
Meanwhile, Alaska Dispatch reports on the reaction by the Palin administration to the Democrats’ press conference this morning, decrying the governor for leaving the state to engage in partisan campaigning while vital Alaskan issues go unaddressed by our absentee governor. They called a press conference of their own:
“It has been 27 days since the election and this is the fifth day (Palin) has not been in the state,” Bill McAllister, Palin’s spokesman, told reporters at the news conference. “State business is unaffected.”
OK… let’s do the math. Where is that calculator…..ah, there it is. Let’s see….(punching buttons)…that….means that she’s been gone… 18% of the time since the election, and “state business is unaffected.” That’s pretty interesting. And there are some wider implications.
Using Palin standard, we can conclude that if you work 50 weeks a year, you can take an extra 9 weeks off this year, and your job would be unaffected because that’s only 18% of your work schedule! Wow! And if your child attends school full-time at 180 days for the typical school year, you can keep them home for over a month and their school work would be unaffected! And if the Alaska Legislature shaved 18% of the days off the legislative session, that session would be whittled down to a mere 74 days instead of the current 90 day session, with no effect on the business of the state. Just amazing!
And if anyone tells you otherwise, you just send them to Bill McAllister at the governor’s office. He’ll straighten them out. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go plan my three month vacation. Nice.
Has anyone found out what happened with the GOP accountant sent to tally up and collect Sarah Palin’s RNC clothing? Why is she still wearing her fancy campaign clothing?
Bill McAllister you are such an a$$hole! That’s nearly as egregious as your “ultra left wingers” statement. What a panderer & sycophant you are. I hope that you never get a decent job after you & your boss are jettisoned.
– signed Alaskan who changed her voter reg from republican to undeclared after your boss was added to the GOP ticket and you can shove that where the sun don’t shine
Someone will have to put a podium in the nursing home for Palin.

“It has been 27 days since the election and this is the fifth day (Palin) has not been in the state,” Bill McAllister, Palin’s spokesman, told reporters at the news conference….
What caught my eye here were the words “IN THE STATE.”
Soooooo, she was in AK 27 days. How many in Juneau, or at the office?
But I really wondered about “27 days.” It just doesn’t seem right. Has anyone really kept track of where she was every day since the election?
I’ve just been reading the 4 page Gov Office expense sheet for 7/1-10/08. Some pretty interesting expenses, some I’m sure paying for that 18% leave time. Unless some one else on her staff spent $1,236.00 in CO at Denali Lodging and
Detroit Entertainment, LLC, MI $1,186.80 Northwest Airlines, MI $2,588.58 Ritz Carlton Hotel LA$3,447.38 just to name a few. I should would like to have this gals budget….wow, she does know how to spend, spend, spend. I’d for sure take a peak if I live up there, before she comes home and decides to take that check book offline.
WOW the video has already been pulled from youtube… anyone there have a clue as to why?
Oh and I think someone needs to redo the math on those ‘days off’… she surely can’t figure in all those days she was giving interviews in Wasilla as working days? And didn’t she take a couple of days off just after the campaign? And didn’t she stay an extra day at the governor’s convention? You know – the one where she gave unlimited interviews and a 20 minute speech but didn’t attend ONE scheduled event? Ok maybe she attended the free massage thingy…
Hey, NewsTalk 1080Kudo has a poll up – everyone participate!
“Do you feel Governor Sarah Palin is doing a good job?”
http://www.kudo1080.com/
Wow huh?
“It has been 27 days since the election and this is the fifth day (Palin) has not been in the state,” Bill McAllister, Palin’s spokesman, told reporters at the news conference. “State business is unaffected.”
He finally is telling a little bit of the truth, “State business is unaffected.” Maybe because she didnt do much to begin with. :O
Oops, sorry, I messed up – this was wrong:
“Soooooo, she was in AK 27 days. How many in Juneau, or at the office?”
Should have said “Soooooo, she was in AK 22 days …..”
And I still wonder how she was “working” those 22 days.
(Really truly, I do know how to subtract!)

GJ in ID: You’re a glutton for punishment … the AK online checkbook as light bedtime reading … ugh. But you’re right, there could be something there, although why would they have the b@lls to put it out there?
I confess, I have frittered away far too much time looking at the checkbook online! And to answer your question about how many days she’s spent in Juneau, that would be ZERO. AKM
it just dawned on me that she didnt go to help Ted Stevens and this is supposed to be the state she works for. not that I would support him, but now that this one is so close, and knowing its mostly republicans anyways. Talk about self serving. hmpf.
yukonbushgrma: I’m sure the Palin Administration doesn’t believe there is really anyone out here that would doubt her “open and transparent governing.” Certainly there wouldn’t actually be anyone that would go online and try to figure out that 280 plus pg. “vendor list”. Surprise, surprise this ID granny just loves to follow the money. And on nights that I can’t sleep (I ate pizza after 6pm a no, no, for me if I want to get to bed early) I just love to play with google online to see what new tricks this old dog can learn.
If she would just go back to AK and keep her mouth shout, it would not have occurred to me to see where she has hidden the bones. But she just keeps coming out and winkin’ and not blinkin’. So I’m willing to do almost anything to shut her up. Reading through a few spread sheets isn’t all that big of a sacrifice.
Could it be that she is getting tired of the cold and just can’t help herself, she’s become what we here in ID call a “Snow bird” they take off for down south with the first sign of frost.
“I confess, I have frittered away far too much time looking at the checkbook online! And to answer your question about how many days she’s spent in Juneau, that would be ZERO. AKM”
Shudda known you’d have done that, AKM!
===========
By the way, if anyone caught Halcro’s blog recently, there’s a memo Palin wrote about (really paraphrasing here, plus putting my spin on it) how she was going to show everyone that the seat of government needed to move from Juneau. It’s pretty good…..
“I confess, I have frittered away far too much time looking at the checkbook online! And to answer your question about how many days she’s spent in Juneau, that would be ZERO. AKM”
(Sorry to be a comments-hog, but guess I can handle only one thought at a time in my senior years …..)
AKM, I think we do need to keep an eye on this, because apparently they’re very behind on the entries. Looks like this is NOT a REAL-TIME system! (Leaves more room for doctoring.)
So the really GOOD stuff is yet to come ……..
yay! It played 🙂 Totally weird though as the first time it gave the message “this video is no longer available” Usually it just tells me I’m in the wrong country 😛
Thanks for posting the link !
KO, tonight is really hitting the zero days in Juneau, and asking some good questions. oops that where is sarha button was the other thread..sorry
Can anyone tell me exactly who Leta Simons is and what qualifies her to have a Director’s job on the OMB? I was doing a bit of research on alaska natural resources and her name just keeps coming up as the contact…
I didn’t want to shell out $12.95 for her profile. Wouldn’t there be a gov listing of state officers with their backgrounds?
Sorry for the double post – I’ve been mousing around here as well:
http://gov.state.ak.us/omb/
I’m guessing if I just had a Wasilla yearbook I could figure them all out 🙂

I have her as Director of Support Services for the DNR; where I come from, “support services” are office trogs.
OT, A possible end to the baby-gate speculation could be out soon.
http://www.palindeception.com/blog/
This oughta be good.
Aussie & Ozmud:
I also looked at the AK OMB link … then googled her name.
At one time she was from Anchor Point AK. She’s done some drama work in Homer community theater (Arsenic & Old Lace). She traveled to Belize and commented on it, and also entered a photo-naming contest to win a fancy coffee machine.
But here’s the most interesting item. When I googled ‘”Leta Simons” appointed Director Alaska’ — there were a couple of links to state media releases announcing her appointment … and then …
WHEN I CLICKED ON THE LINKS, THE PAGES WERE NO LONGER AVAILABLE! Hmmmmmm……
Wonder what was in those media releases? Maybe something that wasn’t quite true, and something someone doesn’t want to comment on???
yukonbushgrma (01:58:59) :
She’s 56 years old, I guess she must have done something in all those years to deserve to be Head Secretary/File Clerk/Driver. There is no record of whether or not she liked cows as a child. 😉
Might be old news to some, but since the name Leta Simons was brought up:

the disappearing media announcement is sort of what intrigued me to begin with… why the dead links after barely a year on a public official? I’m thinking any website related to Palin has been pulled and redone to suit the new image. Maybe the RNC hatchet men did that while in wasilla.
You don’t need inventory control when things are going fine? Really? They teach that in busines school?
That’s rather like saying your car doesn’t need brakes until you need to stop.
Thanks for the info to all who checked for me –
If John McCain cared about this country he would slay the monster he unleashed. All he’d have to do is come out and say, “I made a mistake. She wasn’t remotely prepared or qualified and it turned out she was nuts.” He owes it to the American people to tell the truth, but his vanity will never allow him to do it because when you look at what a moron she is, it makes him seem like a dottering old senile fool.
ozmud (03:11:47) :
“I’m thinking any website related to Palin has been pulled and redone to suit the new image. Maybe the RNC hatchet men did that while in wasilla.”
Exactly what I thought. I’ve never found dead links like that on the state website before ….. especially when they’re not that old. And why weren’t they redirected to new ones?
Betcha that KTUU reporter, Rebecca Palsha, would know a little bit about her ……..
@yukonbushgrma and @ozmud
I did the search for Leta mention above and got 4 Google hits. The DNR link is no longer available but the 3 pdf files are. HOWEVER….
The DNR announcement IS available in the Google CACHE. Here is the DNR announcment in full. Make of it what you will.
NEW DIVISION CREATED/NEW DIRECTORS APPOINTED
Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Tom Irwin is pleased to announce several changes within the department.
The department has recognized the need to create two offices in addressing the workloads and complexities of both the Alaska Coastal Management Program (ACMP) and the Large Project Management team. The magnitude of these programs dictates that there are two offices committed to the individual missions. Therefore, the Division of Coastal and Ocean Management (DCOM) was created while retaining the Office of Project Management and Permitting (OPMP). This will focus resources on the numerous and complex issues, such as climate change, ocean health and responsible resource development facing the department today.
The Alaska Coastal Management Program functions that were formerly under OPMP will now be housed in the new Division of Coastal and Ocean Management (DCOM) with Mr. Randy Bates as Director. Randy was formerly the Deputy Director of OPMP and has been implementing ACMP regulations since 1997. His instrumental involvement with program consistency reviews and coastal district plans has made him an asset to the state and the public he serves. Randy resides in Juneau.
The OPMP will retain the Large Project Management team and ANILCA functions. With over 20 years of dedicated service with DNR, Mr. Ed Fogels has been appointed as Director of OPMP. Over the years, Ed has held many positions within several divisions within the department. Among the many functions, Ed has contributed to the land disposal and homesteading programs and was the state’s large mining coordinator. Ed currently resides in Anchorage.
In addition, Ms. Leta Simons has been appointed as Director of the Division of Support Services. Leta, CPA, CIA comes to DNR with extensive administrative and auditing experience from areas around the state including Kotzebue and Homer. She was formally an auditor with the state office of Legislative Budget and Audit, internal auditor for the Department of Education and most recently as the Administrative Manager of Support Services. Leta replaces longtime state employee and current Director, Mr. Nico Bus. After thirty incredible and dedicated years of leadership Nico, will be retiring at the end of the year.
AKM, you are being generous, by my calculations Sarah has been AWOL for 5 or more of 15 Business Days since the Election.
33% absenteeism. Zero days at her work station. Where I come from that’s called a Mandatory Pink Slip.
RLS:
Thanx for finding that cached story!
Where is Donald Trump ……… “Sarah – YOU’RE FIRED!!”
Don’t you think for a second that you are doing any favors for the State of Washington by stumping for that jerk. The only benefit to Palin’s stumping is to her own 2012 presidential bid, and it will be a snowy day in Seattle before we vote for her. (We have had snow before. Not on election day, however, and I’m feeling pretty certain that we will not.)
And Palin isn’t back yet. So if she comes back to Alaska tonight it wiil be 21% away since the election, if tomorrow 24%, etc. Hurry home, Sarah. AKM may not be able to stand more vacation.
In the HuffPost story http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/01/sarah-palin-still-wearing_n_147520.html
In the fist picture, she seems to have a white scarf pinned inside to make the neckline more modest and yesterday not be wearing it. ???
BigSlick YES WE CAN! Clamp Noodle Palin (03:43:18) :
Thank you for doing the counting and calculation for me. I was wondering how many “work” days there had actually been. Spin, Billy, spin!
Thought I’d share with you non-forum goers the following composition:
There was a slick flack from Alaska,
Who could spin out of any disaster.
He parsed and he feinted,
He garbled and tainted.
It’s William “the Truth Squad” McAllister!
Don´t like to alarm anybody, but how do I tell AKM I keep getting Virus Alerts when opening this page (has happened for the first time today)?
Gotta run now. Will AKM see this?
Thanks
Let’s add another 20% having reporters film us so that we can try to become more popular! I am going to ask my boss today if I can do this for 20% of the time that I work!
ALASKANS AND AMERICANS FOR TRUTH!!
Did you include all the time she spends at her home in Wasilla throughout the year? Now is the time to get this lazy ass out of her chair and send her back to Wasilla for good.
lettersfromeurope – the most logical answer is that your anti-virus/firewall is picking up normal files as viral. I need to turn off my pop-up blocker when I come to these threads because it identifies many ‘ok’ things as ‘problems’.
I’m probably not wording this correctly – but I’m guessing your system is perceiving threats which aren’t actually there as most firewalls/anti-virus programs are prone to do.
yukon – thanks for the read on Leta – well at least it she appears to be genuine then – I’m guessing the description of the dept is no longer valid? The new name is OMB maybe? It is odd to find the site entry gone with no ‘go to’ link though.
Just a pet peeve of mine, but I’ve seen this several times now – when you are speaking about the city that is the capital of a state, it is capitAl – the only time you use the spelling capitOl is when you are speaking about the building that houses the legislative body – so the Alaska State Capitol Bldg is in Juneau, the Capital of Alaska. Sorry, but it bugs me . . . . !!!!
Yikes – every time I click on the Mudflats Home page, or this particular post, my real time anti-virus program (CA) alerts me that there are 4 infected items in my temp internet files, which they call “Actns/Swif.T” and identify as a trojan. When I click on the Comments link to this post, I get the same alert, but with only 2 infected items. I currently have other windows open and have no problems there, and have also opened new windows in other sites, but I only get the virus alert when I refresh this particular post or the Home page here. I tried closing this window and opening a new one, and the same thing happens (only on the Mudflats site). Anyone else experience this? I’ll update when I have more info. (Jeez, I haven’t even had a chance to read any of the new stuff yet. It looks like you guys have a busy few days on here… but I gotta figure his out first.)
Aussie Blue Sky (02:40:58) :
Neat video on the Palins and the Gov Mansion – interesting that they all seemed to love it – but not enough to actually live there; I heard that the kids didn’t like Juneau . . . the town is much more liberal than Wasilla so I’m sure SP didn’t want her children “exposed” to “that sort of thing” . . .
OK, this is just too rich. You all need to check this out:

Seems her royal highness has an IQ of 83
her SAT scores put her in the 39th percentile
and we all wondered why she can’t get a coherent thought out of her mouth… She’s the SCARECROW! Hay for brains!

You may be asleep, but I looked at this post (good morning from CO) and there is no Denali Lodge in Colorado- SP wowed the crowds (stupid sheep) in Pueblo, Jeffco (western Denver metro), and Grand Junction only, I think…so I’m not sure where she spent the money in my fair state.
We’ll take her $$$, thank you very much, but go home now and do not come back.
BTW- Karl Rove the Darth Vader of the RNC ( who’s now a respected pundit on Faux News) was talking with Matt Lauer/Today Show about Obama’s cabinet choices; Lauer asked him about “remaking” the RNC and was Palin the new face. Interesting- Rove sidestepped a direct answer, and said we have only seen her for 9 weeks, and over the next 3-4 years the Republicans can evaluate her/others’ performances and decide. Hmmm…
AKM-
Love the math, but you’re assuming The-Governor-From-Afar is coming straight home to Alaska, do not pass “GO” or collect more dollars (shoes, clothes, contributions). You may have more vacation days coming; after all, she has interviews to do, late night talk shows to go on, book deals to discuss…busy, busy, busy.
JS in Chicago (05:16:06) :
I am not having your problem; my Apple G5 loves Mudflats and willingly goes here every time.
Darlene…what an awesome link..not to be missed!! ( I especially loved the Ivana Trump escapade). Thanks for the sharing.
Grammy in PA – thanks, I hope that’s all it is, but this has never happened to me before, and it’s only on a few screens here. I just googled the file name of the virus and only got two hits, both of which look like forums where people have posted within the last hour about exactly the same problem–but one is in Italian, and the other is in Swedish! They mention something about YouTube, so maybe this has to do with an infected video clip that got posted in Mudflats? I also went back to the Home page here and clicked on all of the recent posts in the right-hand column. The only one that triggered the virus alert was “Joe the Plumber Won’t Go Away Either” (figures). I had already read that one the day it was posted, and had no problem then.
Ok, I just refreshed the google screen and got several more hits, all with today’s date, which makes me think this is something new. There was only one in English though, and that person thinks this has something to do with Shockwave/Flash player files, which kind of makes sense since the infected files that I got all ended in .swf. Refreshed again, and a few more hits. They are from all over. Someone in the Philippines also thinks this has something to do with embedded YouTube videos. Very weird.
JS – wow, whatever it is it’s spreading . . . wonder if some troll is behind it?
In addition, Ms. Leta Simons has been appointed as Director of the Division of Support Services. Leta, CPA, CIA comes to DNR with extensive administrative and auditing experience from areas around the state

Do you think a troll has targeted AKM/Mudflats, or is this some kind of virus worm that is worldwide?
CO Almost Native,
thanks for the props! i have an active imagination and this sure is fun!
CO Almost Native – no, I don’t think this has anything to do with a troll here. I’m seeing posts from all over the world now (anyone read Russian?) and the common theme seems to be YouTube, and loading sites with videos. I imagine we’ll know more by the end of the day (if not sooner), but for now I would not be embedding any videos on here (or anywhere) until we know what’s going on. I ran a couple of virus scans on my PC (after deleting my temp internet files) and they didn’t pick up anything, but who knows why some of us are getting this and others aren’t. I’ve been online all morning, and so far this is the only site where I’ve been alerted. Now I’ve got to go work and hope my computer doesn’t blow up while I’m gone. Whah…

aaaaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaahhaaaa!!!!! Did anybody catch Biden’s reference to the seating at the governors’ meeting? Seating according to when state entered the Union. Um…doesn’t that put palin in a back corner? snicker.
Hi, I`m just passing through again and the virus check I ran while I was gone kept coming up with this
Actns/Swif.T trojan
It is still happening as soon as I open this page. No other pages affected I have looked at from t-online, facebook, yahoo, zoho.
And I don´t see the youtube video on this page.
Small consolence – At least my virus checker seems to be working….
Gotta run again

While I think the IQ number and percentiles sound about right for dear sarah, I hesitate to trust that part of the document without reliable confirmation. Too easy to photoshop.
I was on this site last night when my usual desktop decided to crash right after the avp popped up. At this point, the desktop is not fully restarting itself. I’ll ask the company IS guy if embedded youtubes or swf files are among the reasons.
Werent those SAT and IQ test scores for Palin debunked several weeks ago?
She’s speaking for folks in Maine?
Not any reasonable ones that I know. Most of the state is probably still laughing at her this morning.
Re: that checkbook online, don’t forget, you can download it in a “Save As…” document for later perusal…. (better do it now before someone on Sarah’s staff reads this! 🙂 )
Funny stuff about that KUDO1080 poll’s results so far:
“Is Governor Palin doing a good job for Alaska?
Yes, she has raised Alaska’s image in the national eye. 0%
Yes, but she needs to come home soon and get the gas line constructed. 0%
Somewhat, but I would feel more confident if she spent more time on state business. 2%
No, and we better not be picking up the tab for her trip. 42%
Absolutely not. My cat could do a better job running the state. 56% “
Yes – there is a virus – it nailed me from here about 2 weeks ago. I had my “geek” fix it and put in a super firewall…….did not mention it sooner because I wasn’t sure of the origin but now it is clear with all the other mentions….and it was a trojan.

A little OT, but maybe not! I found this in the Juneau Empire this AM

I wonder? Wooten is up here, the ex is in WA. With all the media attention on him & his family during the election and now with the twit Gov out of the state, I wonder what he’s up to? I hope he’s not blowing his chances for custody but it sounds like this might really cause another round of nastiness?
I was hoping he would just mind his Ps and Qs and sit tight til January. I think there is more than a good chance that the Troopergate issue will be brought up again during session since half the state doesn’t believe any more that the Governor can tell the truth.
HoHoHoooo!!!

I have been listening to Day to Day on NPR. The program will be up on http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=17 after 3pm ET.
The program was about the problems of the Republican Party and in particular issues with Evangelicals. It was interesting to note that Sarah was generally viewed in a negative light. No one totally trashed her but the biggest complaint was she lacked Christian humility and her stance on the environment was against the thrust that younger evangelicals are taking. They felt she did not represent them.
Good to hear that all evangelicals aren’t nuts.
OT, but pretty funny:
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/reliable-source/2008/12/rs-ornament2.html
Too bad it’s one of a kind from the state of Washington:)
Well, since she “works” from home and “works” from a variety of remote locations (while she’s spending my tax $$$, and yours) then she is ALWAYS doing the work of the Governor of Alaska, right?
Reminds me of a recent boss (the main reason he’s “recent”) who couldn’t take a turn being “on call” for our 24/7 business because he was “technically, on-call ALL the time” Yeah, me too. Except I made <50% of his salary, DID have to take turns with “on call” and I actually answered the phone when I was called. He didn’t even bother to answer when it was us managers calling. It gives me shivers to think I worked that closely with someone who was clearly among Sarah’s soulmates…
@ Hick Town
Sounds like the younger evangelicals do have some sense, as Sarah represents NO ONE but Sarah.
INteresting interview on Fresh Air (NPR — Terri Gross) with the guy from beliefnet.com. He actually said that Sarah Palin was a drag on the McCain ticket! Said that while she fired up the base that she alienated more people in the middle than she brought to the table. Amen brother! Glad to hear a fairly high-profile religious person who is speaking the truth about her!
Stream the show later when it’s available on NPR’s site. It’s quite interesting.
just got finished voting her in Macon Ga, I wish Jim Martin the best- Sarah go home (sorry mudflats)!!!!

I think the general feeling here in Alaska among those who don’t support Sarah is: bring it on! The Murkowskis have been around for a very long time, and undoubtedly would get out the big guns to take her down. I, frankly, would like to see it. I think it would be the best way to get rid of her — her dirty laundry could not survive a fight against the Murkowskis.
My thought is that she is just digging herself another deep hole by ignoring her duties to the State of Alaska. The less time she is actually in office, the fewer people will support her for the “great job” she is doing as “Alaska’s Beloved Gov.”. Unfortunately, that means that the good people of Alaska are being neglected. How long will that be allowed?
By the way, it is warming up in Georgia today. Does that mean she is on her way to PA already?
@SMR (09:54:30) :
And I’m sure her syntax and grammar and knowledge base could not survive that fight either!
I first got the virus message 7 hours ago and I still get it every time I click on Mudflats. I hope AKM knows about this.
letters from europe, JS in Chicago (06:03:44) :
I am not seeing what you are, but my virusware tends to run pretty much in the background at work.
This may have something to do with the fact that AKM put embedded YouTube vids in both this post and the JTP post? See if it is the case for other posts with YouTube content?
lettersfromeurope and JS in Chicago.
I would suggest that you alert AKM by e-mail. It may be that she needs to clean her system before posting more video.
Hmmm, if y’all in AK start getting 9 weeks vaca like your gov seems to be approving of, then I might just have to forgo the sunshine and move north!
I frankly couldn’t stand watching yesterday. Did she say anything truly cringe-worthy, or just the usual garbage?
I enjoy watching politics and staying informed. That being said, I am completely addicted to Alaskan politics these days… LOL… ever since August 29th and since I found this blog early on… Thanks AKM!!!
Funny to read about Lisa Murkowski warning off Sarah Palin. And the possible pardon of ConvicTED by the Bush administration.
On the other hand, My Governor, Janet Napolitano, a woman governor with real gravitas, has been tapped for Obama’s cabinet. Which leaves the Sec. of State to be next in line for the Governorship… a Republican… and although she is not enormously radical, Ms. Napolitano has been the only barrier between a very conservative congress and imposing some draconian restrictions on reproductive rights. I fear for the poor women in this state.
I know we just seem to “love” your Sarah here in the lower 48, but can you call her and ask her to come home? Enough of this b@@@h!
Just e-mailed AKM re the possible trojan YouTube issue.
Sauerkraut –
She’s definitely not speaking for THIS spot in Maine. I nearly choked on my morning muffin when I heard her say that. I thought I’d already been as incensed as possible by that woman, but to hear that she thinks she’s speaking somehow for the good of this state (I know, it was only one of several she mentioned, at the corners of this nation — do you think she knows any inbetween??) …. I don’t THINK so!
She had her hair madeover, she’s looking more like Tina Fey (poor Tina). Wretched woman. And those clothes, what a liar.
Re: Mike Wooten keeping his son. It appears that they both have equal custody and primary custody is based on where the son wants to be. According to Wooten, his son wants to live with him again. Should be interesting.
Come on you guys! Don’t you think it was a total burn of Palin by Biden when he first acknowledged her presence at the governors’ meeting and followed that immediately by voicing his delight at the seating arrangements that just happen to put palin in the very back row in the corner? I don’t think his timing of those two items was a coincidence. Not so subtle slap-down.
The virus is on the politics blog at the ADN, too.
womanwithsardinecan (11:39:44)
Huffington Post has included a couple of Biden “jests” at Palin’s expense, stuff about now that the election is over, it’s nice we can all work together…and I’m still not noticed, so maybe we can walk out together.
Her (young) RNC Gov. rivals laughed the loudest:)
Even if the SAT and IQ scores are photoshopped, it shouldn’t be that hard to access Sarah’s high school record. I’m not a grade junkie since even in high school there are really no set grading standards from teacher to teacher, and some people just don’t do well academically. Like my husband. But if you need a house built from the ground up, your vehicle repaired, parts fabricated, your fields farmed, etc. etc. then he’s Mr. Amazing.
But Sarah doesn’t really seem to have any skills outside the academic realm either. And her college record speaks for itself. It’s interesting that she is listed as getting a D in foreign languages, to me that shows that the idea of trying to understand other people ON THEIR TERMS is totally alien to her . . .
Usually high school foreign language classes in the US are pretty softball, more geared towards generating an interest in another language rather than proficiency . . . I wish Alaska had a foreign language requirement (with one option being American Sign Language) for high school graduation ! Mostly so kids realize that there are other valid ways to communicate . . .
Aeroentropy: she’s not speaking for Hawaii either. In fact, our governor apparently decided not to attend the governor’s conference – because she has a lot of budget work to do here in Hawaii. She took some heat for not going – got accused of being anti-Obama but I think she did the right thing. She also invited him for a visit next time he is here (this month maybe). Our governor is a republican in her second term and did campaign for mccain but I still think she made the right choice to stay here and work on the budget. maybe palin should have considered that as well….. sounds like Alaska and Hawaii are both having major budget problems.

I bet Lisa Murkowski knows somebody, who knows somebody, who knows where the bodies are buried. 😉
Yesterday on channel 2 news, Billy Mac, who was on the defensive about his and unfortunately our absent state leader, was quoted as saying that with technology today like blackberry’s one can keep in touch…
Well heck, if ‘keeping in touch’ is all it takes to run a state then sign me up!!!
I’ll be in my new office, the river. Sarah’s in Georgia, Pennsylvania… apparently her office is anywhere but here in Alaska.
Here’s Bill’s letter to the editor in today’s ADN:
“A letter on Monday made the unsubstantiated allegation that Gov. Palin has spent “most of her time” since the election “promoting” herself “all over” the Lower 48.
Let’s look at the context and do the math.
The governor has made two trips Outside. She was gone for three days in order to attend the Republican Governor’s Association meeting, an event she always goes to. This week’s schedule called for three days out of state, including a meeting with governors of both parties and with President-elect Barack Obama.
As of this Wednesday, it’s 29 days since the election. Her travels account for six of those days. That’s barely 20 percent of that period, not “most of.”
Meanwhile, the governor has been hard at work on the next state budget, her initiatives for the next legislative session and ongoing issues associated with a natural gas pipeline, including the awarding of the license for the gas line on Friday in Fairbanks.
These internal discussions, occurring at the normal time within the budgetary and legislative cycles, do not make news, of course. That happens only when the actual documents are released, as they will be in the coming days. But it is a disservice to the governor to say she’s not doing her job.”
Erin
So SP’s been in Juneau then??
@UK Lady (13:16:00) :
HA! Not a chance, though rumor is she will be next Tuesday, 9 December, for the annual Governor’s House Holiday Open House. Thinking of going, only because I want to hear the youth choir (I know kids singing).
Injuneau – With the exception of yourself (obviously), and several of your exceedingly intelligent compatriots, I do seriously doubt the comprehension of a number of Alaskans. Do they not mind a Governor who is only interested in her own glory? Do they not do any digging onto the workings of their own leadership? Do they not own or have access to computers? Do they not know how to google?
Do they not wonder how their Gov afforded her house.Do they not wonder who built it? In heavens name, do they ever ask themselves the question, why am I sticking up for this fool?!!.
New thread all, and it’s about the fascinating Murkowski v Palin issue.
@UK Lady (13:38:21) :
There was A LOT of stuff about SWWNBN that no one (at least no one with any inclination or ability to get the info out) knew about when she was elected in 2006. Besides, she beat the worst gov. in State history in the primary and only won in the general because it was a three-way race (she won with less than 50%). She promised us a change from all the good old boy corruption nonsense, and apparently enough people bought the line. She was good at hiding all the ugly truths that have only come out because of the diligence of AKM and others like us. I suspect that this lovely “open door” she went barreling through has opened up a lot of people’s eyes, and with any luck, we’ll be rid of her in 2010, if not before.

“But there were some dissenting voices. Govs. Mark Sanford (R) of South Carolina and Sarah Palin (R) of Alaska said they were philosophically opposed to increasing the federal deficit to stimulate the economy. Many of the current economic problems were created by fiscal irresponsibility, they said.”
She is fiscally irresponsible and is too insane to realize it.
Curious (23:20:14) :
Someone will have to put a podium in the nursing home for Palin.

from the link:
Sarah Palin’s October 2008 appearance on Focus on the Family head James Dobson’s radio show, during which Palin thanked “our prayer warriors across the nation.”
———-
prayer warriors?!?!?!?!?! is she on a “crusade”? what about that Thou shalt not kill?!?! little thingy that Christians are supposed to pay attention to, thanks to some god-like saying?
Another thing I don’t understand about Palin an her ilk! They are Pro-life! does that only count if the life in in-utero? and American?
She has no problem with wars. She has no problem with saying ‘hang em’, when discussing murderers. Are there no grey areas? How about self defence? how about prolonged abuse?
Do pregnant women in Iraq not count as human beings? Do the teenagers who are sent to kill and be killed or maim and be maimed not count, how about their emotional well being? OMG when do I stop?!!
Actns/Swif.T is an action script associated with youtube and possibly shockwave. Update your web browser, firewall and anti-virus programs to each one’s latest version.
Yesterday on channel 2 news, Billy Mac, who was on the defensive about his and unfortunately our absent state leader, was quoted as saying that with technology today like blackberry’s one can keep in touch…
yeah, even IF, is that public accessible information? how about records, eh? how about hack proof endangerment, just like the prez has to deal with.
also as far as questioning how much time out of state is occurring perhaps a better question would be “how much is gov palin actually working?”
another also, hahaha…..it’s blogs like us that are driving them to respond to our rants and questioning…..IF they were doing a good job none of this would be necessary.
What this article suggests is that it doesn’t make much difference whether Palin is in Alaska or not–it runs just fine without her, undoubtedly with a lot less drama.
Could be a very interesting brouhaha coming up (not withstanding the planned invasion of the Palinites) Sens. Hatch And Murkowski Support Pardon For Stevens:
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/12/02/stevens-pardon-hatch/
Please Ms Murkoswski run for office and win. Some of us in the lower 48 are so tired of Sarah Palin and hopes that she and her family go back to Wasilla to stay.
We do not need a president or senator who in multiple interviews say’s “me ain’t bein no dictator” I love Alaska, enjoy your lumber, oil and salmon in my home but you can keep Gov Palin no need to export.
To follow up on Billy Mac’s letter to the editor for the ADN, which said in part:
“A letter on Monday made the unsubstantiated allegation that Gov. Palin has spent “most of her time” since the election “promoting” herself “all over” the Lower 48.
Let’s look at the context and do the math.
The governor has made two trips Outside. She was gone for three days in order to attend the Republican Governor’s Association meeting, an event she always goes to. ———-
Yabbut…I can do math better than you, Billy. Let’s figure out how many days in November-December Sarah has actually WORKED for the state of Alaska.
You gave her more travel days than I did, so let’s subtract 6 from 29 = 23. OK, then let’s subtract the Greta Van Susteren interview and the Matt Lauer interview Nov. 10 and 11, subtract 2 more days, that makes it 21. And the interview in front of the turkey slaughtering, subtract one more day = 20. Subtract 6 more weekend days not already accounted for in her travel days = 14. Subtract Thanksgiving Day = 13.
Is Bill McAllister saying Sarah Palin has actually worked for the state of Alaska 23 days between November 4th and December 3rd, or does it make more sense to say Sarah Palin has been promoting herself and her career all but 13 days of that same time period?
This is the MOST newsworthy blog I ever stumbled upon and I thank you from the bottom of my Georgia Peach state heart. She was barely covered in the news here, if that’s any consolation. Please keep her in her pen.
Hi all:
A Mudpuppy lover from California…you guys should rule the world!
I’m in awe over the link Darleen shared.
Sarah’s IQ at 83 caught my attention, and I thought I’d share, in turn, some thoughts about IQ levels from:
http://www.geocities.com/rnseitz/Definition_of_IQ.html
Some tidbits:
• Current military enlistment standards exclude any individual whose IQ is below about 85.
• Persons of average IQ (between 90 and 100) are not competitive for most professional and executive-level work but are easily trained for the bulk of jobs in the American economy. By contrast, individuals in the top 5 percent of the adult population can essentially train themselves, and few occupations are beyond their reach mentally.
• An IQ between 75 and 105. Children in this IQ range are not generally able to complete a college prep course in high school.
• People with IQs between 75 and 90 are 88 times more likely to drop out of high school, seven times more likely to be jailed, and five times more likely as adults to live in poverty than people with IQs between 110 and 125. The 75-to-90 IQ woman is eight times more likely to become a chronic welfare recipient, and four times as likely to bear an illegitimate child than the 110-to-125-IQ woman.
(Guess she figured out the poverty part…)
First time back online since this morning, refreshed this screen, and voila, no more virus warnings here! In addition, I now see the video in this post, which I didn’t even know was there this a.m. cause there was just white space. I’ve done nothing to my pc except wake up from hibernate, so something has been fixed somewhere in cyberspace. The google search that just gave me a few hits this morning now come back with 18 pages, so presumably the geek squad has been on the case. If anyone still has a problem, let us know. Now, on to the good stuff, finally! (P.S. I’m mainly a lurker here, but I’m a real fan of AKM and I think you guys are great. It was easy to see that SP was a dingbat, but without the benefit of sites like this, I would not have understood just how dangerous a dingbat she really is, and why she won’t go away on her own. Thanks for all you do here – it’s important stuff!!
Glad your PC is back to normal, JS.
Wonderful!
new post
Great post. It’s ridiculous that Palin has been absent this much. Time for a new governor!
Wow. I had no idea Hawaii, Maine and Washington State were *red* states.
LOL palin
I enjoy reading all of the AK Bloggers writtings; Mudflats, Celtiv Diva, Alaska Dispatch, Alaskans for Truth, ect. ALL of you have more intelligence, integrity, honesty, common sense and class in your little toes than Palin and her appointed “possie” will ever have if they lived 100 life times. That being said, why don’t all of you get together and get all of the paperwork and necessary signatures to get the Wicked Witch of the North IMPEECED/RECALLED??
You do realize how much more damage this “woman” can do in 2 years time don’t you? For the life of me, I cannot undertand why no one is trying to take this horrid “woman” DOWN and OUT!
And why not some/all of you run for office?
How about everyone getting together and taking out a FULL PAGE ad (in print) in ADN? WANTED: A GOVERNOR TO RUN THE STATE OF ALASKA. Then list all of the QUALIFICATIONS and DUTIES of the applicant. It most likely won’t embarrass your Gov, because she has NO SHAME. But it will draw attention. *wink*wink*
