Tomorrow, Sarah Palin, like all of us, will make certain decisions about what to do with her time. She, like all of us, will decide where to put her energy and focus and attention. She has a newfound power and ability to influence decision-making on a populist level. And she has made decisions about how she wants to do that.
Tomorrow, Sarah Palin will fly to Georgia to use her influence on behalf of Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss. She will appear at four campaign rallies speaking to thousands of voters on his behalf. The run-off election between Chambliss and his Democratic challenger Jim Martin has become an epic struggle, the outcome of which may decide whether Democrats walk away from this election with a filibuster-proof 60-seat majority in the Senate.
The holy grail of 60 seats has not only elevated the Senate race in Georgia to Olympic proportions, it has focused the magnifying glass on the laborious and exacting recount in Minnesota, and has kept Republicratic-independent Senator Joe Lieberman in his plum committee chairmanship for fear of making him mad and losing him to the dark side entirely. It is politics. It is a chess game. It is, as our current President would call it, “strategery.”
But, as political candidates, and strategists, and voters often do, we get deep into that dark forest of strategy and we no longer look at the trees. To many, Chambliss is a political pawn in this Senatorial chess game, who has suddenly made it to the other side of the board, and now has all the significance and power of a Queen. To others, including Max Cleland, the man who ran against him last time, he is more than that.
Matt Zencey was kind enough to do my homework for me today. In the Alaska Notebook, he reminds us:
Chambliss was elected to the Senate in 2002 by running one of the most reprehensible campaigns of modern times. He was up against incumbent Democrat Sen. Max Cleland, a Vietnam War veteran who lost both legs and his right arm to a grenade during that conflict.
Chambliss avoided serving in Vietnam. He got four student draft deferments, and when his number finally came up, he was medically disqualified with knee troubles.
In the best Karl Rove fashion, Chambliss the draft-evader attacked Cleland the war hero for being soft on terrorism. Distorting Cleland’s votes about workplace rules for the new Homeland Security Department employees, Chambliss portrayed him as a tool of terrorists like Osama bin Laden.
Here’s how the Almanac of American Politics (2006) described it:
“Chambliss ran an ad, much attacked in the press, showing pictures of Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Max Cleland, and saying that Cleland ‘voted against the President’s vital homeland security efforts 11 times.’” (Those “vital homeland security efforts” Cleland opposed were intended to strip homeland security employees of union rights and other workplace protections.)The man who couldn’t bring himself to serve in the military said a man who left three limbs behind in war was a weakling who would turn the country over to terrorists.
I have no doubt that our Governor is proud of her son Track, who recently enlisted in the army. She wears her blue star pin, and I’m sure there’s not a day that goes by that she doesn’t wonder about his welfare, and worry about his safety as all mothers would worry about the welfare of the child that first made them a parent. She thinks about the military differently than she used to, because she now has very precious “skin in the game.” So, I wonder. I wonder how it is that she, and so many others including John McCain who have a personal narrative that is touched by war and conflict, can stand next to Saxby Chambliss and see him as nothing but the shiny new Queen in the chess game.
And while America prepares to witness the most historic Presidential inauguration of our lifetime, and children of every color look at their TV screen at our new first family and think, “Yes, I can” maybe for the first time, we hear again from Senator Chambliss. Here’s what he said about the neck-and-neck race that brought about this run-off election.
“There was a high percentage of minority vote,” Chambliss told Alan Colmes on Fox a couple weeks ago, “but we weren’t able to get enough of our folks out on election day.”
“WE weren’t able to get enough of OUR folks out on election day.” Who is “we”? Who are “our folks”?
During the fall Senate campaign, Chambliss cautioned his followers that “the other folks” are voting. The senator added that the “rush to the polls by African-Americans” has “got our side energized early, they see what is happening.”
In Chambliss’ world it is “our side” vs. the African-Americans. Our folks vs. the minority vote. I am tired of Chambliss’ world. I am tired of racially divisive politics and the words that keep it alive. It was Gandhi who said, “Words become our deeds.” This country has had enough of those words, and those deeds. And this country has had enough of those who support them. This is not a chess game.
HIs grbbing his grandkids chest at the end of the ad should disqualify him–what an example. Initially, when I watched it with my eye on that hand, thinking “what’s the problem?” and then he grabs at her!
Jeez, what happened to my typing!?
Sarah should stay home and do what she was hired to do instead of getting involved in other elections. Isn’t one disaster enough for her?
Doesn’t your Governor have a job? How is it she spends so much time doing ‘other things’? Who pays for her time? Tell me the State is not supporting her and whoever she is dragging along with her on these ‘other than State business’ escapades to increase her personal gain profile.
Disgusting. But equally disgusting is how it is allowed to occur.
Did she learn how to do her own make-up and hair and is she still borrowing clothes?
Alaska could come out of the woods…but solidarity reigns supreme no matter the matter.
Lol
Not first? Guess not. oh well.
It really disturbs me that Sarah cannot be counted on in her own state of Alaska to do the work that she was elected for. It disturbs me even more that she has such a high rating. Why? She doesn’t DO anything for the people… just herself. People are too blind to see it. I am glad that some are coming around though.
It is also nice to see the headlines about Obama and his planning and efforts for the good of the nation, world, and the environment. Thank heavens. This is why we need a filibuster-proof senate now more than ever to reverse the devastation caused by the Bush administration.
Saxby Shameless
Saxby’s old man should have kicked him in the nuts a long time ago. That guy is a piece of shi’ite like no other. Must be why Palin’s attracted to him.
Saxby is what is wrong with our politicians today. Finding a way to divide it’s citizens with words….
Go away…just go away…
I saw that as last night with his hand around the girls chest. I felt very uncomfortable about it.
I didn’t know much about Chambliss prior to this, but I had heard of Cleland through his involvement in the 9/11 Commission and what seems like an honourable decision to not participate in that farce.
My best friend is Google and I was sickened to read what Chambliss had done to Cleland. It was news to me – I’m in Ireland so am not quite as up to date as all you folks.
I must admit, I do not like him. Sarah Palin campaigning for him only reinforces my already awful opinion of her!
My spelling is not great either tonight.
Someone in GA, who is a mandated reporter, needs to call Social Services to investigate the senator. Lack of boundaries. Using a child as prop. Where have we heard those before?
I might feel proud if Alaska’s governor were out campaigning for lofty principles of some kind. But the fact that she is continuing the promote the dated, fear-mongering, spiteful partisan divide in a changing world where the actual leaders (with actual responsibilities) are moving the country toward greater unity is simply sorry.
If Chambliss remains in the Senate, his old ideas will be marginalized. If Martin is given the chance to become part of the Senate, he will help bring forth the fresh perspectives the country sorely needs at this time. Veterans and many others are working hard for Martin, but the Democrat is running a few behinds Chambliss in this red state. More information on how to help out in the next few days with this campaign is located in the “Action Alert” section of the forum.
The despicable ads Chambliss is running are over the top. The one accusing Martin of not being tough enough on penalties for people who pray on children is the worst, so far.
Martin did vote for a bill that was constitutionally acceptable after voting no on one crafted with errors that could not have been implemented. Chambliss made a horrendous accusation against Martin, when Martin’s own daughter had been kidnapped when she was 8 years old. The family was successful in getting her back. If people know the real facts how can they believe the lying Chambliss?
Here is the site for the explanation of the first “No” vote, then the yes vote for a properly written bill- most astute and admirable on Martin’s part.
http://bobgeiger.blogspot.com/2008/11/chambliss-returns-to-slimy-campaign.html
Just the fact that she thinks going to GA is more important than staying in AK and getting caught up on those things she’s left behind for the last 3 months is telling enough. Le’t see can we list the things she’s missed in AK, like the State ED meeting, her childrens schooling, Trigs health appointments and special ed classes, the emergency request for help with energy costs to the villages, just to name a few.
Sarah Palin, herself, is now a pawn in the Republican chess game. In order to gain clout for her next run for power, she must do what the Republican leaders want her to do- which is to throw her enormous celebrity behind their last remaining hope. I wish Sarah would just resign as Governor so that the needs of our state are tended to, not the needs of Saxby Chambliss, Sarah Palin and the Republican party.
It says a lot about Sarah Palin’s attitude towards race issues when she supports somebody like Chambliss so blindly amd completely.
Remember, The Sarah has no plans to hire any of “them” and feels she doesn’t have to either.
I wonder if she has her Confederate flags back up at the Wasilla homestead?
Or the Confederate stickers on the cars replaced?
And here’s a question for y’all in Alaska – are there still any Sundown Laws on the books which dictate that any of “them” walking the streets after dark are subject to imprisonment and/or fines?
http://www.laprogressive.com/2008/09/05/alaskans-speak-in-a-frightened-whisper-palin-is-%E2%80%9Cracist-sexist-vindictive-and-mean%E2%80%9D/
Maybe the next Governor will do something about that and be a bit more respectful of “them”. I don’t think this one will.
The arguement *might* be made for Republicans if it’s claimed Sarah’s part in campaigning for Chambliss is solely about preventing the Dems from getting the 60th Senator elected.
Beyond that, it must stick in her throat to stand beside a known draft dodger, encouraging folks to vote for him. And – “palling around with draft dodgers” – not a good look on your resume missy!
Do you think Sarah had to sign a future tour agreement like the contestants on Idol? You know – a commitment to be at their beck and call for a year or two regardless of the outcome of her contest? Is that why she rushes off to do this stuff?
Nah. She just likes the stump 🙂

Here it is for everyone to see, he gropes the poor girl in a public TV ad where everyone can see, he is definitley one of the GOP (Grand Old Pedophiles).
If someone in his county filed a complaint, wouldn’t Social Services be obligated to at least look into the matter?
Helen Philpott’s blog on this very subject for the enjoyment of all. Laugh those turkey dinner calories away!!

Andrew Halcro’s blog (link on right under Alaska blogs of Mudflats) graphically shows the dive Alaska’s permanent fund has taken while Palin has been out campaigning (not necessarily her fault, but probably something a governor with actual responsibilities might want to address).
She might want to come home and have a look at that graph on Andrew Halcro’s blog. The muck is getting deeper and stickier. Yikes!
Thanks for this info.
re: grandpa’s video ad is also a turkey
It’s another case of those in higher office having no clue (no empathy) to even hire folks to think of others for them–
here’s a grandfather who is oblivious that his granddaughter is no longer 3 years old. He isn’t groping her but using a traditional gesture.
Where is his staff/paid videographer public relations flak (and himself) who neglected to tell him that granddaughter isn’t 3 years old?
Is there no ADN or AK msm coverage or editorial addressing your governor’s gallavanting out of state to pimp herself? Seems like more than a few roguish Alaskans would all be up in arms that their needs are being sidelined for some old-school Georgia reactionary named Saxby Chambliss.
Hopefully the state of Georgia will realize that it’s time to take the garbage out.
Thank you AKM-
NONE of this is a chess game- is not a game of any kind. Not the racial undertones Mr Chambliss relies on… not the swanning around the gov is indulging in- none of it .
The disconnects these yahoos rely on to get into office poisons any work they do afterwards.
We would do well to remind ourselves that much of our current disaffection for politics and politicians – and attendant feelings of powerlessness – came from being marginalized by GAMEplayers these last many years. We let those twits pretend how many millions of Americans didn’t exist or deserve to be heard?
While I am very excited about Mr Obama becoming our President , we have a lot of work to do to re-patriate ALL Americans . If words do be indeed become our deeds-(i think they do ) we need to start with defining some of our words.
POLITY- the group
POLITICS- the business of the group
POLITICIANS- the folks we hire to do the business of the group
GROUP- ALL of us -the whole of living, breathing humans in our society, not just the ones who look like us…
Somebody else- pick it up?
To Sparkleball Lady – actually, there has been some as quoted in the blog. I share with MudFlats the desire to be ‘over’ Palin, but we here are not so lucky. Don’t worry – I am quite sure ADN and other news outlets in Alaska are watching attentively. But for those of us who are not in the business full time, I think it behooves us to be careful – as they say, you get more of what you focus on, and we really don’t need more ET type hype about anyone in politics,
e-SP-ecially certain people whose fame is disturbing and disconcerting.

Palin’s campaigning on behalf of Chambliss is somewhat of an acid test for her, no? If Chambliss wins the runoff (which I believe he is likely to do in any case), her support will bolster Palin’s credentials as a national level politician; if Chambliss crashes and burns, this will be an indicator that Palin has jumped the shark, and that she should stay in Alaska, where she (presumably) belongs.
I am always amazed by the defense of Cleland, though, like he is the patron saint of something; if Cleland was such a great politician he should still be in office right now. Dozens of mediocre pols manage to stay in office election after election, why not Cleland? And if Cleland is so great, why didn’t he run against Chambliss this time around, anyway? Nobody should get any slack for military service, who gives a damn about what a person did in the military (I am a veteran of 18 years of service thus far, so this isn’t a shrill communist or something); McCain didn’t get any slack for his service during this election, and rightfully so. If Cleland was a kick-ass politician, he would not have lost to a “mediocre” (your characterization, not mine) politician like Chambliss in the first place.1
Ambition still counts for something, so I am betting that the divine Mrs P. will still be on the national scene after the Georgia Senate runoff, come hell or high water. We’ll see how it all turns out. . .
There she goes palling around with racist hate mongers again. Hope she doesn’t whip the crowds into some crazy frenzy. There are plenty of corrupt politicians, but few who are so shameless & blatant.
Marie Antoinette Palin “let them eat cake” or Emperor Nero Palin “the fiddler”:
While the villagers sit at the kitchen table trying to balance a budget for the winter that includes at least 40% just for home heating fuel, while the local grocery store lays off 5 people (or 50% of it’s work force, and 20% of the retail jobs in the village), the village fire department closes down for lack of funds to fuel/maintain the one small truck, the only Village Protection Safety Officer (VPSO) moves his family to Anchorage where he can get a job that actually is a living wage with less expenses, and the school loses it’s accreditation because the enrollment dropped below 20 students…..
No Worries Palin is off to the East Coast to support a poor soul in need….in deed!
the people in GA just need to get out and vote. They get a second chance to do the right thing. I don’t think Poodle will help out in any way, and in fact, might just bring out more people against her favored Saxby and his racist rhetoric.
Please Alaska, can’t you tie her up or something?
Oh and BTW, lovely picture of Brian in the last thread… just lovely.
Another little known fact about Chambliss is that a Deibold employee testified, under oath, recently saying that a representative from Deibold applied a “fix” to voting machines in Atlanta (heavy Cleland area), days before the election. The “fix” was programmed to either ignore votes for Max Cleland or to flip votes from Cleland to Chambliss. In other words, as many people have suspected, Chambliss stole the election in 2002. Exit polls showed Cleland winning by 4-6% and in the end Chambliss won by 5%. Just a coincidence? I don’t think so. Many people are starting to think that the same thing happened in this election.
The special election is going to come down to who gets out the most people to vote. The Republicans are really depressed and the Democrats are really jazzed. Perhaps that will make the difference.
WE HAVE MORE TO DO:
Democrat Jim Martin is in a runoff against Bush Republican Saxby Chambliss for the Senate seat from Georgia. Bush’s Saxby Chambliss voted against spending a few measly dollars to provide health care coverage for Georgia, and Americas needy children. But he supported wasting hundreds of billions of your dollars, and the life BLOOD of Americas finest on an unnecessary war in Iraq.
At a time when 47 million of you have no health insurance coverage, and over 100 million of you with insurance are just one major illness away from complete financial destruction. Bush and Saxby Chambliss voted to make the heart break of bankruptcy relief even harder for all of you to use.
You see, Bush and Saxby Chambliss, and his family don’t have to worry about their health care coverage. They have the finest health care coverage your tax money can buy for them. Courtesy of you. The American Tax payer. In fact, no one but the super rich can afford the health care coverage you the tax payer provide for Saxby Chambliss, and his family for FREE! with your tax dollars.
He supposedly works for you. But he doesn’t think you and your family should have access to the type of taxpayer supported FREE health care that you provide for him, and his loved ones for FREE!. Doesn’t that just make you BURRING MAD!
Vote for JIM MARTIN for US senator from Georgia. Vote for JIM Martin who will be on your side. Vote for JIM MARTIN who will work with President Obama and a majority congress for you. Vote for JIM MARTIN most of all for your-self, your family’s, friends, and loved ones. Vote for JIM MARTIN for a better America, and a better World.
Don’t let Saxby Chambliss make a chump out of you by tricking you into voting against your own best interest. Saxby chambliss is NOT! on your side. He’s not one of you. He is on George Bush’s side. And we all know what a catastrophe the Bush Chambliss administration has been the past 8 years.
Contact all your family and friends and do every thing you can to see to it that JIM MARTIN and GEORGIANS! take that senate seat back for Georgia, and America. No matter where you live in America. This is important to you. President Obama will need all the help, and power you can give him to try and fix this catastrophic mess that the Corrupt Bush Chambliss administration has created.
As I said before you will have to vote in overwhelming numbers to overcome the Bush Chambliss “Let Them Eat Cake” vote fraud machine. Vote early if you can. Then help everyone you can get to the polls and vote for JIM MARTIN. You and your loved ones don’t have to be Saxby Chambliss’s victims anymore.
I know you will get it done. Just like you did for President Obama.
God bless all of you
jacksmith – WORKING CLASS… 🙂
Well said as usual, AKM.
We as a nation need to move past this “us vs them” mentality and realize that we *are* them.

Each and every Alaskan reading this: Please write to your legislator. Let them know we need real NON PARTISAN solutions to real problems. The Executive Branch of our State Government is MIA, and we must now BEG the Legislature to please STEP UP. WE BEG OF YOU.

And we are not pawns.
Very happy to see Brian again! (glad your window did not get smashed)
WHO YA GONNA CALL?
The Georgia campaign trip is Palin’s big GHOSTBUSTERS moment-it has more to do with cementing Palin’s credentials as a big attraction, than with Chambliss and his policies. Palin needs only to draw a big, preferably hysterical crowd, to mark the bible belt as her turf and send a message to Huckabee and all others-Move it on over!
Oddly, some old school Republicans are accusing the ‘liberal media’ of lavishing Palin with attention, in an attempt to (subliminally) embarrass the GOP.
If Palin applied the same principles to herself—-who would be paying for her house and all the commercial products in her kitchen??? Did I read that the same people were involved in the Stevens house project? Neither she nor Dude make that kind of money to not only build, but maintain this kind of property from what I read. Free help from somewhere—–swept under the rug.
Also the snow machine , boat and airplane???? Whew!!!!!!! And then she says that people should be responsible for themselves without help of any kind? DUH!
McCain actually spoke out against the Chambliss ad he ran against Cleland 6 years ago. Said he couldn’t believe anyone would run such an ad against someone who left 3 limbs on the battlefield.
Then this year he campaigned for Chambliss against Martin. Go figure. So Sarah is just actually following suit. Not that I am excusing her at all. She just is wanting to keep her name out there in the MSM in the lower 48 so that when 2012 comes around we will be ready for her. OHHHHH that made me feel ill typing that.
Is anyone gonna do a body count on how many minions/fawning sychophants are going on this jaunt ?? Is the 1k per day lady going ?? Who is watching the Russkies while Sarah is gone ?!?!
This article should be titled, “The Ice Queen of Alaska and the Queen of Georgia.”
I like the moose pictures. I think you picked a great name for him. 🙂
Alaska may be a beautiful state, with lots of wonderful people, but this harpy shrew is really making me never want to visit there. Perhaps the citizenry will awaken and make her a “one hit wonder”.
SP is a pig….period. The race is mostly about bigotry, hate, and much more that is BAD, and where else but in the south. This is nothing but a out and out right publicty stunt on SP part. Chambliss is ahead by 3-6 points and when he wins…she will take all the credit, you know “the closer” She just keeps popping up like a bad pimple. Sorry don’t think we gonna get rid of her unless the Alaskans can quell her ego. I sent my donation the Alaskans for Truth.
@ Dee
Whoa! Don’t stay away from Alaska because of SP – she does NOT represent anything but a wacko zealot politician that slipped in under the radar and who happens to live here. Nor is she anything like an every day Alaskan. Shannyn Moore said it on her blog better than the rest of us who have tried to explain this:
http://shannynmoore.wordpress.com/2008/11/19/keith-olbermann-broke-up-with-me/
Free Alaska! hee hee
The Georgia event is to show how the Republican brand resonates in events they hope will parallel Obama’s in turnout.
He wins; she brings home the Winner. A sort of parallel universe of the election and a portent of things to come.
Note she is NOT appearing in Athens which is another country. — (No, no, no, Sarah. Not really.)
I’d like to ask Palin how she’s campaigning for Chambliss, when he’s pro-choice and she’s pro-life. What a sorriful lot.
Anyone have the latest numbers? Last I heard, Chambliss was up 6.
I think Chambliss will win. Just a bad habit, like biting your fingernails.
What irks me is the “flip.” If Martin had the deferments and Chambliss had enlisted in the Army and left for Vietnam when his baby daughter was only two months old, oh what a fine American she would have the privilege to “brag on.”
She would “love him and honor him” as she did McCain.
PS – OT – whew, delighted to see Brian! I feared Greta van Suckeran had eaten him in the Governess’ kitchen.
shilo – are you sure he’s pro-choice? In Georgia?
Chambliss a draft evader? No….more like a draft dodging coward. His knee hurt? Poor widdle sissy can’t take a little pain? What a world class wimp.
Sarah, you should be ashamed of yourself supporting such a yellow belly like Saxby while your son is in harm’s way. Shame on you.
Propaganda used in advertising is perfectly ethical, however, when propaganda is also brain washing and is done for Negative purpose it becomes dangerous speech . Free speech has one restraint: It can
Do no harm. The right to falsely holler fire in a crowded theater is not
Protected free speech, it is prohibited Speech. So when you paint an issues
With a propagandist’ s brush is it protected? Fascist Germany used propaganda to defeat the Weimer republic. They said they supported Socialists. Hmm I’ve heard that before! How does propaganda work? Propagandist use short accusing phases! “Democrats are Socialists”
“Obama associates with terrorists” “Obama’s recession”. They use
Snippet’s of untruths like hollering fire in the theater. These type of untruthful comments are not protected by free speech. They try to blame the opposition for all of the negative happenings. Germany did this with the Jews, Polarizing them with the population, sensitizing the German population into accepting the Jewish extermination ( Holocaust). This shows the danger Of unfretted propaganda. Propaganda is political pollution that exuberates dissent and makes a less perfect union. A more perfect union is a union of different opinions that can coexist with compromises designed to elevate each opinion to its highest constructive potential. I think that we have to eliminate propagandized Brain washing ,on our public airways, whether they be right or left wing radio. This is not free speech it is its antithesis. We have learned over the last eight years the harm caused by Deceitful rhetoric meant to manipulate rather than inform. Many of our patriotic citizens armed with meaningless expression like “cut and run” that Really meant cowards and anti-American maligned real patriots. Tokyo Rose by any other name (Sean Hannity) smells the same.
Cannot remember where I read a comment, re her campaigning in Georgia but could have been one of the local Georgia newspapers:
a poster said she was going to Georgia for “the American people and the Constitution of the United States.”
There AKM! Now you know.
That has puzzled me ever since I read it. What on earth could it mean?
Then again, maybe Sarah posted it.
BRAVO MUDFLATS…BRAVO.
they hoped that Chambliss comment went away….I heard it back during some moment in the loathesome neverending spiral of shit that swirled early Sept…
no one had time to look at what he said, then…
Okay good Mudpuppies (hey to Brian and his midnight frozen knock knock snack) this riles me, and I’m angry!
I’m in Sacramento, California, but I have great power…I have power to shut down the Palin’s and Chambliss’s of the world, and I certainly have power to help bring to office good representation like Obama-Biden (remember them?) and Jim Martin in Georgia.
Guess what, so do you (have power that is). I’m fortunate that I can donate $$, and I have at least three times. JUST LIKE I DID FOR BEGICH. Martin’s campaign also asks for help on phone banks. Any help at all from Mudpuppies is good for our country (oops, I think I hear America the Beautiful or the Star Spangled Banner, but let’s move on).
Please please please consider contributing time or money to this Senate race and take a swipe at the knees of rubbish like Sarah Palin and this Chambliss joke of a human being. At least visit http://www.martinforsenate.com/
Kos wrote once that we should leave everything on the road, because if we don’t, we look back and regret. (not the original eloquent words of course…I suck) http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/10/29/15369/191/849/645957
Kos doesn’t care for wingnuts 🙂
AKM, thank you for this forum.
And if you don’t have the $$, don’t worry…these are trying times. If you let me know, and depending on the number of Mudpuppies who respond, I will donate $5-$10 for each…but please consider the phone bank thingie.
Thanks!
Sparky
As a native Georgian, who is happily now living in Southern California, this absolutely makes me livid all over again. I moved to San Diego in November 2000, but remember Max Cleland losing his seat to this piece of S__T in 2002 and now six years later, it is again something that makes me want to smash plates, glasses or whatever will break against the fireplace. I can tell you exactly who “OUR” people are – it’s anyone who isn’t white and a good ole boy or girl!
Max Cleland was and is one of the finest people to serve his country with honor and integrity; not to mention the fact that he left three limbs on the battlefield; whereas poor Saxby had a bum knee. The fact that he was unseated by this backward -thinking “redneck” is a disgrace that the State of Georgia will have to live with for a long, long time.
If Sarah Palin wants to “pal around” with the like of Chambliss while her son is serving in Iraq, I think that speaks volumes as to the kind of absolute self-serving politican she is. She is disgusting beyond words. I don’t know how she can look herself in the mirror, let alone look her son in the face. What a disgrace she is to the beautiful State of Alaska, to her family and ultimately to herself. Hopefully, at some point in the future she will be recognized for what she is – someone who cares not for her family, her state, her county; someone whose only true love is her image through the reflection of a camera lens.
Sparky was just kidding; methinks that is illegal.
Sarah is sailing a leakey boat on the ocean of delusion………
“In Chambliss’ world it is “our side” vs. the African-Americans. Our folks vs. the minority vote. I am tired of Chambliss’ world. I am tired of racially divisive politics and the words that keep it alive. It was Gandhi who said, “Words become our deeds.” This country has had enough of those words, and those deeds. And this country has had enough of those who support them. This is not a chess game.”
Those words right there express so perfectly how I see this!
Thank you, AKM!

The company we keep (and endorse) helps define who we are. Chambliss, McCain, Palin… They all belong together.

Georgia is the party’s first use of her as a fundraiser and stump speech closer. She will recycle campaign rhetoric just as she did at the Gov conference. At least here it will be more relevant (except for the fact that she is a Loser).
I think the GOP will use her for these purposes and allow her to be the sacrificial lamb for 2012. This buys them time to get serious about 2016.
Say what you will about her cult of personality and babe appeal; she does not wear well and people will sicken of her.

I live in AK — not AZ, IL or NY, so I have no idea what the constituents there thought at the time. Right now I think my gov better get her sorry a$$ back to AK and fix what’s broken in this state. That’s what we hired her for and that’s what she’s paid for.
Thought so.
Is this Georgia runoff using the same Diebold machines that were “fixed” in 2002? Will there be legal teams present at the polling places to provide security and oversight? Oooo, Diebold…..no good. It would stand to reason that if the GOP were prioritizing the races needing a little “help” (not talking simply money here), this one would be right up at the top.
I donated to the DNC when they appealed following the election – hope they use that $$ to safeguard Georgia’s vote!
I saw the video, my jaw dropped and my DH saw it and his did too!!!
I just hope all those “other people” come out and vote and whip his A$$!
Pervert!
Palin, Paling around with draft dodgers and perverts.
Sparky (17:17:20) :
“And if you don’t have the $$, don’t worry…these are trying times. If you let me know, and depending on the number of Mudpuppies who respond, I will donate $5-$10 for each…but please consider the phone bank thingie.”
Sparky…I have a list printed out for calls to make to GA tomorrow.
Struggling with $$ here, but I do have free long distance on the cell
phone, and free time!
I hope Palin sinks Chambliss in Georgia there with one of her classic, ramblin’, vapid monologues again also too! And how perfectly hypocritical of her to stop by to pal around with that dangerous Obama. Doesn’t she have flock of kids includin’ an about-to-give-birth teenager and a state she’s supposed to be runnin’? Or maybe a shotgun weddin’ to plan?
I’m sick and tired of hearing about airhead Palin. She thinks she’s the best thing that’s ever happend in politics. Well, she can take your dumb moose ass to the north pole along with her sea crabs for all I care.
Dragon Lady (17:22:31) Not to worry Dragon Lady, I would not do anything illegal, nor anything even close to illegal, that I promise.
Help defeat Chambliss by supporting Martin’s Campaign. The run off in coming quickly. Chambliss is as bad as they come–shame on Palin for supporting such a piece of work.

Considering that Ghandi was a lawyer who defended segregation in South Africa and who despised black people, I’m not sure that using a quote from him is entirely apposite…
Any word on who tomorrow’s fundraiser will be with/for?
That should be interesting. We’ll no doubt hear how much she raked in for them, whoever they are.
Catching up with my pals from Mudflats after a few days of dysfunctional family time. Hey, my bunch put the FUN in dysfunction!
I’m with you 100%. We’ll probably get a bunch of coverage on the teevee, being in the state next further south.
Some of our local newsies may even meander up to GA to see what Sarah has to say–it’s kinda slow here post election. Usually the only GA news that counts is the UFL UGA game aka World’s Biggest Cocktail Party.
I was sickened by what SC did to Max in 2002, and would love to see him get his head figuratively handed to him.
Hey, duh, Saxby? More of “your folks” voted for BHO than voted for John Kerry four years ago. Put that in your thinly veiled racist pipe and smoke it! LOTS of us are sick of this unmitigated BS, and want it to stop.
We are ALL AMERICANS. Somewhere, somehow, everyone has to get that through their sometimes thick heads. We can have differing ideas about how our country should be run, and best serve it’s people, but that doesn’t mean any of us are any less patriotic than others.
An associate (rabid R) of my DH’s sent an email saying that if the electorate had been the same make up as it was in 1960 (ie, way less of those pesky minorities voting) BHO would never have won. DH wrote back–“Yup, ain’t progress great?” Haven’t heard back from the guy.
Isn’t Plow Woman running out of time to finish the budget? Or is Stalker Boy set up at his conference table in her office working on the budget?
Sparky –
Thanks for the link for donating to Martin – I don’t have any friends or relatives in GA but wanted to do SOMETHING to help keep the draft dodging, hate mongering pedophile out of office.
Don’t forget to sign the petition asking Gov Palin to please stop talking (in similar words!) at
http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?1113nov8
I would also recommend that you post this link on as many sites as you can when ever you can. I personally read the Washington Post, LA Times, Chicago Tribune, and New York Times online and try to include it in all of my comments.
here in ak
I LOVE that petition – some of the comments are great. I wish it was going to be sent to SP, though.
Isn’t there any way to address the issue of abandonment of duties? She hasn’t been there to do the state’s business and hasn’t delegated to the lt gov like she should (even Coghill recognized that as a problem) – what happens when an elected official walks off the job??
I believe that Georgia is asking Alaska to retrieve Sarah…

your link doesn’t work
Georgia, please vote Chambliss into oblivion Make Sarah Palin trivial. Please make a statement that there is no “us” versus” them in Georgia anymore.
Please.
“Our folks”? Ouch and Yikes! Please GA use your brains and run this guy out on a rail.
Once again, I stand (or sit) in awe of your writing talents! This time I even took action to financially support Chambliss’s opponent Jim Martin. (a small amount to be sure, since I am a retired school teacher/librarian)
Others who may want to support Jim Martin’s runoff campaign can link to his website at http://www.martinforsenate.com/.
Georgia: From Carter to Chambliss…Go Dems, get the grass root voters out again and show the change is real…Saxby, go back to your plantation and pick your own cotton.
Erin (12:01:58) :
Sarah Palin, herself, is now a pawn in the Republican chess game. In order to gain clout for her next run for power, she must do what the Republican leaders want her to do-

I, too, have wondered about this. And about what happens after the results are in. Will they then throw her under the bus? What kind, I wonder. …
I vote to impeach her.
Compare this to the love of Barack and Michelle:

It must be sad to live in Sarah Palin’s world.

Great site – I loved Focus on the Family’s Christmas Shopping Guide, which criticises retailers for not exploiting Christmas enough! 😀
I am from GA and ashamed of Senator Chambliss, Alaska is 50/50 and GA is 49/50 in education, I guess birds of a feather flock to gather what is theirs. Palin shows no respect for education the one thing that would change lives and minds – dragging her kids on the trail while school is on, while Saxby talks of “other folks” and “us”. He may win, but the days of collective ignorance and bigotry are numbered.
Grammy in PA (04:50:04) Cool 😉
Forget blaming Chambliss for being an a-hole….blame the people of Georgia who elected him to office and who will be doing it again. A man has a right to be a complete and utter turd, but how dare the people of GA elect him.
I spent the afternoon making calls to voters in GA, and
enjoyed it! I’ll happily be doing more calls Monday in
the afternoon.
You know it is pretty sad when it appears that the Republicans are looking to Sarah Palin to bring them a victory…when they know that all she generates is hatred. You can rest assure that wherever she is today, she will mention Ayers, which seems to be a favorite false accusation that she uses when speaking to her racist white base, who are either connected to OR are “Domestic Terrorists” aka: KKK themselves standing right in front of her.
These Domestic Terroists bombed Churches, Crosses, People..that includes 3 beautiful little girls, just a little older than Piper. What a racist hypocrite Palin is, and may the Republicans that she represents lose every election where she appears…a vote against Palin and the PEOPLE SHE REPRESENT is a vote for CHANGE…Enough!
If Sarah Palin really wants to put her money where her mouth is, she’d say “thanks but no thanks” to the Juneau Road to Nowhere and the Knik Arm Bridge to Nowhere! Alaska received money for these projects in the same federal spending spree that gave them the other Bridge to Nowhere. The total cost of both of these projects is well over $1 billion, and the decision is hers to cancel them or allow them to go forward. That will be the true test of what’s behind her fiscal conservative tough talk. Check out http://www.akbridgesandroadstonowhere.org for the details and this video about the crazy dangerous Juneau Road to Nowhere… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fai9UT8ZRrk
Dear Mudflats,
I hate to even think this, never the less say it, but, I don’t believe Palin cares a great deal for her children. She used them for political props. They passed that poor baby Triq around like a ragdoll at every rally they had. And letting a seven year old care for that baby the whole time they were on the road? I wouldn’t do it to a healthy baby, nevermind a special needs baby. It was pathetic.
And, why would you encourage your oldest child to enlist in a war that was built on lies? The military is not in Iraq to protect our Constitution. They are there to make Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld, etc, more wealthy, along with their stckholder friends. They are there for the great military industrial complex, and oil. I would NEVER let my child be put in harms way for lies, lies and more lies.
Then, don’t forget about Bristol. Another one of her children, used, to try to promote herself to the reichwingers.
If Palin was a “regular hockey mom”, just the treatment of that baby, along with her children not getting an education, would be enough for her to be investigagted by Children and Family Services.
I am sorry. But she is a disgrace to Motherhood. She can have it all, but she needs to make sure her children are looked after properly.
