On my way to work yesterday, I noticed an Obama-Biden yard sign I hadn’t seen before. It seemed strange that it was stuck there in a snow bank on the side of the road, because there was no particular house associated with that piece of land. As I got closer, I realized that someone had used a black Sharpie to put an “N” in front of Obama, and also had put a red diagonal line through the O. I pulled over, of course, yanked the sign and stuck it in the trunk. I thought about all the people that have been losing yard signs, and it made me mad that this one got destroyed.
Then, this morning, I found out that Spouse had been very clever, and using rubbing alcohol had managed to remove all traces of marker from the sign! It was as good as new! I wish I knew where it had come from, but since I didn’t….I now have an Obama yard sign! It has survived its first 24 hours without incident, I am happy to report.
So for all of you lamenting the loss of yard signs, maybe…just maybe…it’s in my yard!

I’m listening to Morning Joe & Mike on MSNBC (it’s 5:30 AM here in Minnesota). They’re reading a newspaper article which says Sarah was mismanaged by the McCain campaign.
In a wicked sort of way, I’m glad this idea is being floated by the media because I believe Sarah is vain enough to agree with it.
I would love to see Sarah on TV indignant over her own mismanagement, blaming McCain and the campaign staffers for bruising her reputation.

I found out something interesting – in noting that several of the ‘red red’ states do not have a recent poll I wrote to the ‘Votemaster’ on the electoral-vote map – and he answered me! Seems that no one wants to pay for an SC poll and that’s why the most recent one is Oct. 20. OCTOBER 20!!! Makes me crazy. But I did notice one state that has a ‘most recent’ poll of Oct. 19 (Oklahoma) – and one with a date of SEPTEMBER 17!??! (Idaho). Any mudpups from OK or ID? What’s happening with polls where you are? There has to have been some movement. Is it just that we won’t find out until Nov. 4?

Good on ya, rescuing the wayward sign. After all ours got pinched in the neighborhood last weekend I went to the local headquarters to replace them and they had only 1 (one) left! I brought it home and coddled it for a while, bringing Sign in at night, putting Sign out at daybreak. Reminded me of when I used to do field work around Kodiak and had to bring the pink flamingos in at night to keep the bears from molesting them! I had to leave last night for the weekend, so it was time for Sign to make it on its own. I installed it at a sligtly jaunty and optimistic angle about 10′ up in a tree above the road. It will take a dedicated thief to get to this one. And with a little luck (and work), I will drape it with some celebratory ribbons tuesday night before reclaiming it.

However given all the oddness surrounding Joe the Dead Beat, a tin hat might be nice.
I finally got a good night’s sleep last night. Haven’t been sleeping well, then got sick. Sound familiar? I’ve been hearing this a lot. Stress stress stress.
I think I slept well last night because i did something yesterday that I’m mildly sheepish about, but still glad I did it. My llittle sister has been PATIENTLY answering the horrid emails she has been getting from an old friend of my father. You know, one of those people who keeps forwarding all the lies and crap about Obama, all the fearmongering doo doo. She apparently got on his mailing list during some exchange with my father. Anyway, since she was stuck with this guy, and she is much, much nicer than I am, she has been looking up every allegation and giving him answers, plus telling him where he can find more answers. I was on the mailing list for some of this exchange but was ignoring it because I don’t like listening to those braindead muttonheads.
I made the mistake of reading one of his responses the other day, and sure enough, I saw red and went into fight mode. I wrote him two very nasty emails telling him to lay off my sister (and my mom, who had also gotten involved) and calling him a big fat bigot (he says anybody with the middle name Hussein very clearly is a muslim, blah blah blah). And I told him not to bother to respond because i would delete his emails without reading them. I got some emails back from him and indeed deleted them without reading. From the emails going to the rest of my family I think he had another big spaz-out yesterday after I called him out. I felt anxious for a while, and worried that little sis would be mad at my “ghetto” approach, but after a while I just felt better.
Nothing like telling off a big fat bigot to make you sleep well. He will still vote like the ignorant putz he is, but he needed to know that not every democrat is as patient and civil as my sister in the face of hate and bigotry and ignorance. I told him I wasn’t prone to civility.

I just had a thought. In the last 8 weeks Sarah has become accustomed to a certain “style” of living–being jetted everywhere on a private plane, getting to wear, if not own, fancy duds, throngs of adoring crowds all over the country—she is on her way back to AK to vote in a couple of days and then when the election is over, I wonder if she’s aware that the Repubs will pull the plug immediately?? LOL. There she’ll be in AK just getting ready for evening cocktails when the election is called for Obama. Will she go back to McCain HQ? Unlikely. Who will pay her way? It’ll be like Cinderella when the clock strikes midnight and all her finery evaporates. Can you imagine THAT postpartum funk?
And now maybe I can relax and finish my Halloween display and Day of the Dead shrine. I’ve got my Palin zombie head out with the rest of my ghouls. Voting done, yelling done, postcards sent, letters to editors sent, facebook links updated, my town is 90% hard core voting liberals. Stick a fork in me, I’m done.

I was getting sent some selected anti-Obama smear e-mails from a friend (someone I just became friend’s with at my high school reunion this summer) and him asking to explain, give me my opinion which he respected as he knew I was more politically aware and knowledgeable… So I patiently (mostly) answered each and every lie, distortion and accusation with proof, voting records, bills written and sponsored, education, resumes, things done and associations and grades by various groups, all for both candidates and SP when required In the end after two months almost daily of this back and forth he finally sent a very succint e-mail “I have to vote for the ex-military/POW and as far as Barack being better educated, in my opinion education isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.” A bit later I got “Obama will take away all of my guns and he doesn’t put his hand on his heart when the Pledge of Allegiance is recited.”
Oy! So your poor sister can write till she’s blue, a die-hard is a die-hard and only wants to trip us up. On the other hand, I ended up doing so much research about all 4 of the candidates, I was amazed at how much I learned – even my friend was impressed with my knowledge even though he wouldn’t be swayed.

Here in Oz I am often pestered with advertizing Robo faxes and calls.
If there is a live person on the end I usually answer with a ‘made-up’ language…that gets rid of them…(it is fun to make up a language…they get confused and do not know where they are)
BUT…a computerized call…you hit the # button on your phone receiver several times and it ‘blows’ the computer sending the message…they usually try again, hit the # button again a few times and see what happens.

I’m here in Oklahoma and the most recent poll I found was the Oct. 19 that you referred to and it shows Obama down by 29. However, there are not nearly as many signs or bumper stickers around for the other guy. Even when we attended the state fair we saw more t-shirts for Obama and the Democratic booth was alot busier than the GOP booth. We also saw more people carrying signs that they had picked up for Obama. I heard on this mornings news that we now have 200,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans, so there may be some hope here.

Someone asked about Oklahoma and other red states. I can give you some insight into Oklahoma. My son was just there for a week, Prior to leaving I told him he may want to get to know people before he tells them he is big for Obama given the rather radical sentiment of some McCain supporters. His reply upon returning is that for such a red state there are sure alot of Obama supporters. Ethenol has been a huge boost to the midwest where small farmers have been struggling for ever. McCain is supporting the oil company propaganda that ethenol will lead to food shortages, they know this is not true and McCain is trying to take away their first shot at getting out of poverty since Jimmy Carter left office. Most of the major universities in the Midwest are researching better crops for both ethenol and bio diesal that could be grown on marginal farm land that we now pay these farmers not to use, need little or no fertilizer or pesticides and little care. McCain while trying to deny them this new income also voted against the farm bill that would extend payments, provide free meals for poor children at school, and provides for the food stamp program. His reasoning is they are making plenty on ethenol they don’t need welfare. Excuse me have the poor suddenly come into money, have all the farmers suddenly started growing only corn. We have the lowest food costs in the world compared to our incomes in the world because the government has subsidised the farms to stabalize prices and provide us with low cost food.

I am hoping Alaskans will work to pound the last few nails into the coffin of her political career. I imagine they know how to take care of this problem. 🙂 It has become obvious to me that both Sarah and Ted Stevens don’t think that they have done anything wrong and that they are entitled to these side benefits they have received. I finally watched the entire Obama/Joe the Plumber exchange and I tell you, Obama made such sense and was so thorough and what he said was so advantageous to somebody like Joe (did you see the people behind Joe nodding their heads in agreement the whole time) that if Joe is still a McCain supporter after that, then he deserves nothing and he’s a real idiot!
Also watched the Rachel Maddow interview of Obama and Dan Rather’s brilliant take on it. Obama is surely a brilliant man who knows what’s really important for us as a country and people in particular, but, then, you guys all know that!
If anyone is interested, here’s an analysis of the polls yesterday and what one research firm says about Republican notes about the race “closing.” Hope this hasn’t been posted yet, but I haven’t had time to read comments this morning.

The biggest problem I see with Sarah Palin’s “look” is she doesn’t seem to want to appear professional so much as she wants to appear glamorous.
We have had our sign for 8 months and no problems. Though there is only one other Obama sign on my street, there are NO McCain signs in my whole entire neighborhood.
I have seen ONE McCain sticker on a car. He must not like the paper hanging in my rear window that has McCain and Bush hugging and says McSame 92% of the time, be cause he almost ran me off the road and flipped me off as he passed me!
I print my own stuff and just tape it in my car.
One day a few weeks ago I was leaving work and was blocked in by two seniors who were scoping out my car. I thought…”Ut ohhhhhh”. I asked if I could help them, turns out the liked my homemade sign and I gave it to them. Every once in a while I see it driving in my neighborhood! As I was leaving yesterday, the woman was walking down my work street decked out in Obama gear. She saw me and blew me a kiss!

Well, you know, maverick, rogue, screw-up, they’re all part of the same continuum. Just think about the guy who managed to lose five Navy planes. I’m sure he’d tell you it was part of being a maverick, his flight commanders would probably say it was part of being a rogue and his fellow fliers would say it was a total screw-up.
My 90 year old mother-in-law who lives in Erie said she would’ve thrown Palin off the stage yesterday for not knowing that when in Erie you root for the Cleveland Indians. Of course she didn’t go to that rally and is voting for a democrat for the first time in her life.
Geeze.. Barbie is squeely even on soft mute.. she’s just so annoying.. i could never imagine her as president giving speeches.. isn’t that just something that would give you chills.. imagine barbie giving the state of the union address, once she knows what it is..
i don’t think her crowd is very large.. i can handle a few more days of barbie.. i can’t take 4 more years of their insame policy..

I was just on 538.com and a poster asked a good question: what time will results start coming in? Do we on the East Coast have to wait until the polls on the West Coast close?
One person responded that if Obama hits 270 early we could know by 10 p.m. However, I did a quick calculation and don’t see him getting to 270 by the time the polls in CO and NM close, so we will have to wait for the West Coast.

Here is what you have to do when a McCain person calls – knowing that the longer you keep them on the phone the less people they have the time to contact. These are what my husband does when somebody calls trying to sell something –
Either act like their call and every single little thing they say is the most interesting, the most exciting thing that anyone has ever told you in your entire life! Exclaim a lot, express surprise and wonder.
Or act like you have just woken up from a 40 year sleep and know nothing, don’t know who McCain is, don’t know there is an election, don’t know about cell phones or the war in Iraq or economic crisis and just act surprised and keep asking them questions, ask them to explain.
They may start by either being flattered that they are going to inform someone or they will be very patient but eventually they will get extremely exasperated and hang up on you. Gotcha!
I have to thank you and all the Alaskan bloggers for educating the voters. Labor Day weekend, I was saying …oh, maybe she won’t be that bad but what the heck was McCain thinking? Now I know she WILL BE that bad and McCain doesn’t think.
I have not strangled anyone wanting to vote for McCain/Palin though it has been a close thing. I have had some great laughs at Republican expense, have shed some tears of anger while watching the news and have shaken my head at my cousin’s description of Palin as being cute and perky.

It is amazing that, given the unbelievable screw ups in the McCain campaign recently (actually all along), I still feel soooo constantly nervous about the outcome on Tuesday. I mean the disorganization is beyond comprehension, how on earth would McCain be able to run a country when he can’t run a campaign? The amazingly pitiful and embarassing sight of McCain trying to summon JTP at a rally when he wasn’t even there (doesn’t he have people to coordinate these things) at an event they had to bus school children to just to fill up the venue. And SP’s faux pas concerning the PA sports team, I can certainly believe that she would not have the good sense to do the research herself but doesn’t she have a staff with any clue? Then I read on HuffPo that at the Sarah Palin rally held at Penn State (a closed rally so they had to pay $8,000 to use the facility when it would have been free if they had done an open rally) the President of the University wanted to meet Sarah Palin and they said “No, he’s a big democrat, why would he want to meet SP?” so they blew him off. The President of the University IS a democrat but as he pointed out the school had hosted tons of events for both parties and he always, out of courtesy and interest, liked to meet and introduce himself to the candidates, dignitaries, whoever. He said this was the first time anyone had ever spat upon him (my words) and it was no “miscommunication” as the McCain people later tried to claim. These people are not only stupid and incompetent, they are just palin rude. This is a state they are trying to wrestle away from the dems and then they treat the head of a school of 44,000 students and untold numbers of alumni all over the state like dirt. These are just a few of the gaffes in the last 3 days, you could fill a book if you enumerated all of them for a longer period of time.

And in this case, those two states are probably pretty much predetermined, and usually wouldn’t make much difference in electoral votes anyway. I’ve been listening to the McCain/Palin rallies and they are getting disparate. If you listen to what they are saying, write the talking points down and then analyze them. They are promising things that they can not deliver. Most of what they are promising has to originate in Congress. (Money issues have to originate in the House.) The campaign is stressing that one party rule is dangerous. I am a veteran and McCain/Palin always call out the veterans in the crowd like they are the only ones that care about veterans. I’m afraid that many people are going to vote with their emotions. This makes it all the more critical that each of us votes on Tuesday. Run, walk, drive or even crawl to the polls and cast your vote. Maryland doesn’t allow early voting so I know we will have long lines but I will not let someone else decide what my government will look like. Maryland is strong for Obama but I’m not taking a chance.

A Chicago Sun-Times columnist says this morning that Obama and Biden will not appear on stage Tuesday till sometime after California polls close (10 Chicago time) and if it’s still up in the air then, even later.
Based on past experiences, the networks will also probably be reluctant to call it till all polls are closed.
But there will be no denying the map. Eastern Time Zone states that will give us a really good idea of where things are headed earlier will be Florida, Virginia and possibly North Carolina.
If all three are Blue we’re headed for a good night. If it’s Florida and one of the other, same story.
This assumes that all votes will be counted and panicked, sinister Republicans don’t starting screwing with the machines in other states to make up for it.

I’ve always known that the Polls would be close at the very end. After all, they were close in the Primarys with Hillary. Obama has always said that the polls would be close as well.
Yesterday, I watched Rick Sanchez’s segment on CNN about election fraud. He had an expert show how easily the chips in the electronic voting machine can be manipulated by replacing them with chips that are pre-set to calculate a percentage of the votes cast to go to the other candidate.
But whatever the outcome, I am so proud to support and vote for this man who has shown tremendous character, integrity, and dignity throughout all of the nasty attacks thrown at him by McCain and Palin.
Obama and his wife reflect more christian characteristics and values than the other side, who have no qualms about using “God” as a weapon of fear. I can’t imagine how many times he has had to turn the other cheek. Obama is a Peacemaker, and he lives the 2nd greatest Commandment which is “Love thy Neighbor.”
Remember, depending on where you live, you will need to set your clocks back an hour.
I don’t know if I want to SNL tomorrow night, but I suppose I can see what people say about the show at around 10 pm.
Is there hope for Oklahoma? MSNBC just had a report about early voting starting today and the longs are really long. The reporter said that no one really wanted to say if they were Democrat or Republican but that the ones that did are for Obama and to top that off there are quite a few Obama supporters! Alot of the voters said they haven’t voted in a olong time because they haven’t had someone they wanted to support. The IHT had a huge front page article with a huge photo of Michelle on Tuesday’s International Herald Tribune entitled “Tryout for a new role”. A beautiful article about how smart, charming, warm, hard-working, confident she is. It says that as First Lady she’ll focus first on her family, then on issues facing women and military spouses as well as taking on National Service.
It is a beautiful article and when I first saw it and saw the size of the photo I thought “This paper already has her pegged as the First Lady and is treating her as such. Yummy!
This morning I heard on the news that “Joe the Plumber” was working and that a new survey showed 50% thought Obama would raise their taxes, and it was less than that for McCain.
Are Americans really that stupid? I don’t get it. Joe the Plumber is such a fake, obvious opportunist, and suddenly he is the beloved GOP poster boy?? I really don’t get it.

Hi Mudpuppies! First time poster, long time lurker here.
Yesterday my husband and I submitted our early votes in Lake County, Montana. We were surprised by the number of people in the little room where the elections office is located. There was by no means a long line (it is Montana after all) but there was a constant stream of people coming in to vote.
We asked the clerk how things were going, she told us that in the 2004 election they only had 700 early voters, this year they have had over 4,000 ballots returned! I’m so proud of the number of people actually getting off their laurels this election and voting, even if they may not be voting for my choice.

My Missouri friends went to the Obama Rally in Columbia, Missouri last night. They e-mailed me at midnight to tell me they had a great time. Only problem was that a too tall man was in front of them, so they had to watch on the large screen. Our Iowa Gov called me yesterday to say that Obama would be in Des Moines, Iowa today. He will speak at 11:00 a.m. CST. I wish I could attend, but Des Moines is 100 miles north of our small town. I know the traffic will be more than I can deal with. But I will watch on WHO news, and feel he is very close.—My Grandson is putting on a musical tomorrow night at our local High School. Hopefully, I can get lost in the music to calm me down.

I am! A very nice young man from Arkansas. He started in Boston, then Cincinati, next was Austin and now here in New Mexico. He arrived last Saturday and will be here through the 5th or 6th to help close down offices.
He’s working hard all day everyday. He is 26 and graduated from the University of Arkansas and is entering law school next year. Wants to be an environmental lawyer.
We are having fun introducing him to our local cuisine….

One of two scenarios : either she knows that once it was known that Prince Harry was in Afganistan he was forced to head home to GB to keep both him and his unit from being targets so she hopes that if she mentions it enough her son will be brought home. Then she can still claim her son’s patriotism while having him safe at home (maybe blaming the Dems for forcing her son home) OR as you say, she doesn’t really care about her son’s safety or takes it for granted and she uses it to her political advantage.
You must notice that both Biden and McCain are very quiet and discreet about their sons in Iraq – for security reasons and because they are more discreet anyway – but as for SP, her son’s being in Iraq is on her list of her own qualifications for office right up there with her teen daughter keeping her baby, SP’s PTA experience and being so close to Russia.

At lunchtime I went out to the grocery store. While standing on line an older man said to me “well, I guess I know who you are voting for and my vote will cancel yours. You know, he’s too close to those terrorists.”
I said to him that Obama had no ties to terrorists and that Sarah Palin scared the sh** out of me. Unfortunately, by that time the man’s prescription was being delivered and he was paying for it.

You seem to forget – or not to know – just how big the Cracker (our version of the Redneck) population is in Florida. I just watched the McPalin ad in which Barack Obama praises Joe Lieberman and John mccain for their work to fight global warming. As an Independent, this ad really confused me when at the end john mccain’s voice came on and said, “I am John mccain and i endorse this campaign.” My thought was, “thanks, John! i knew obama was a good guy that is willing to give his opponent’s credit when he believes they have done something right and admirable. you gave me one more reason to help me convince other independents to vote for Barack Obama for President.”

Joe Biden, has experience, and McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin, hasn’t nearly as much as Biden. Next Tuesday, however, we’re not electing running mates. We’re electing the man who will lead our country for the next four years, perhaps beyond.
McCain has faced much criticism in this campaign for being angry, impatient and quick to call a spade a spade. He’s not, however, being criticized for people not knowing where he stands on issues. On those matters he’s quite clear.
The biggest knocks on Obama are that, although he serves in the U.S. Senate, he just doesn’t have the breadth and depth of experience that McCain does, particularly with respect to foreign affairs. There’s no arguing that.
The Democrats’ most resounding criticism of McCain has been his choice of Palin, the governor of our great state for the past two years. As with Obama, Palin’s critics are quick to label Palin as a small-town soccer mom who knows nothing of national politics and even less about foreign affairs. But she does have more practical, on-the-job experience than Obama does.

That’s not Bristol. Willow and Piper have been on the campaign trail all along and that was Willow, I believe. Bristol has spent the campaign, other than the convention, in AK. Isn’t it nice how her mother has been there for her during such a tumultuous time in her life? Family values!

A couple of random thoughts about Uncle Ted.
It’s not surprising that he still has substantial support in AK. He’s a fixture of life there. Also (heh), Senatorial staffs work to fix things for constituents. I don’t mean anything illegal or unethical, just intervening with the various bureaucracies when needed. Ted has been Senator for about 2000 weeks. If his staff has helped, say, 10 folks a week, that would mean that they’ve directly helped maybe 10% of all Alaskan families. People tend to be grateful for such assistance, even though it is really just part of the Senatorial job.
There is also the widespread belief that “they all do it”, even though “they all” don’t actually violate the law. And there is also party loyalty. I’ll be honest: if Alan Cranston had run for Senator from CA in 1992, I would have voted for him, despite his Keating 5 censure. I liked Cranston, and I damn sure would never have voted for Bruce Herschensohn. Luckily, Mark Begich does not appear to be as polarizing a figure as Hershensohn.
So, it’s not surprising that Ted has support, and it’s reasonable that his remaining supporters are pretty intense — many of them are committed to him personally, and others are committed Republicans who can’t be very happy about the recent polling trends.
As to Ted being allowed to vote in this election, I think it’s fine, as long as the same principle is applied to other convicted-but-not-yet-sentenced-felons-who-have-not-exhausted-their-appeals. I generally favor letting people vote. In fact, I would be fine if felons were not disenfranchised. I understand the reasoning behind it — violating the social contract, etc. — but it’s never seemed like a critical issue to me, and it opens the door to the kinds of voter purges we’ve seen in Florida and elsewhere.
Mudpups this cheers me up! Besides 538.com this is the only other poll that I really pay attention to.

I voted early in Pima County, AZ, this morning at the trailer in the Sacred Heart parking lot. I was 17th in line. It took 45 minutes to get in, which was real pleasant, chatting with an older couple and a young woman about various non-partisan things, including their visits to Alaska.
The poll worker with a laptop, finds my record and prints it out on a sticker label, sticks it on my envelope, which I sign and date.
We have a long paper ballot, and fill in ovals with a sharpie pen.
Then roll it up, put in envelope, seal, and into a slot in the wooden box.
On the ballot box, is a big bowl of Halloween candy.

The biggest tactical blunder of this election was Stevens pushing for a speedy trial. Had he not panicked post-indictment and held steady, campaigning at home, he may have pulled this off. The trends were definitely headed that direction. Instead, his conviction has made him dead man walking while giving the Democrats a boost in the House race as well. Wow, what drama! You can see the reason for the topline results in Stevens’ favorability numbers:

I had tried to find a hotel in DC for the inauguration, and will still do so, but I don’t want to jinx Obama. I’m kind of supersitious as well. Raised by my grand parents, mostly.
I have been looking at the rates though, and they are outrageous! I may have to stay in Fredricksburg and drive to DC. Can’t afford anything more than $100.00 per night, and plus I am driving from texas.

Cookies for O2B campaigns

Today, most of the O2B campaign offices will be receiving a huge basket of cookies and brownies (the biggest size) to give their volunteers a nice sugary boost heading into the weekend. The two exceptions are the Baker campaign, which will get theirs tomorrow (I missed the cutoff time), and Begich’s campaign which will get theirs Tuesday because Alaska is apparently on the other side of the world next to Putin’s rearing head.
I bought the baskets in the name of our wonderful community. These guys are working their butts off for a more progressive America, so let’s do what we can. If you’re near a campaign office, dropping off some food is always appreciated. And here on Daily Kos we’re out of time — today is the last fundraising day. So no more slacking because the deadline is upon us. Let’s give our great candidates one final push before we fully transition to GOTV mode.

(I am late to the party, as I was helping at the local Obama office- great people, awesome experience). Like your sister, I have gotten Repug emails, mostly from a good friend who has TB (True Believer) friends that send lies and other nonsense over email.
I started out sharing my research, then I reverted- I am a retired high school English teacher- to humor, sarcasm, and the mighty pen. My best one was in response to a prayer email, asking everyone to pray for a McCain win- hmm…no mention of Caribou Barbie…
Anyway, I sent back a prayer of my own, which began:
True Believers, let us gather today, joined by the Internet, and pray for the deliverance of all the unwitting dupes who believe the lies and hatred spewed from the mouths of Republicans. Let them know that these mouthpieces have been sent by Satan, to tempt us into darkness.
It was a fine prayer, filled with brimstone (copied from my visits to black Methodist churches)- and ended with an alleluia and amen. I must admit it was one of my better writings.

Though, for you elitists, the Ritz Carlton is offering a deal. You get 2 nights in the hotel, tickets to one of the balls and a car and driver for only $50,000! Get in on it before they sell out.
Seriously, I suggest that you try a hotel outside of DC but near the subway or train. Driving in DC will be impossible. It is so bad that federal employees have the day off to keep them out of downtown.

I am going to assume it was neighbor’s sign, since it was stolen sometime Wednesday. Since putting up a sign advising would-be thieves that their actions only lead to more donations to Democrats, the thefts from our yard have stopped.

Arizona: I’m in Tucson which tends to vote dem but there are rumors that we might just see the whole state turn blue. I will be doing the happy dance for sure if that happens! I’m holding out to vote first thing on Tuesday morning for the ‘total experience’. I stood in line for 45 minutes during the primaries and I expect a longer line on Tuesday even with the early voting. Obama is putting some money here this weekend which, I believe, are for the express purpose of getting McCain to get his butt back here and defend his territory thus abandoning efforts elsewhere.
Palin’s future: Somebody got it spot on I think suggesting that Palin returns to AK, appoints herself to the Stevens gig. She avoids a recall and finds herself in Washington after all…brilliant strategy

OMG. You guys are great. I love to hear about Obama supporters and I seem to see more than I thought I would. Although my house is split (my husband is for Mcloser and barbie) and I am for Obama.
