The Descent of Sarah Palin, and the Decision of the GOP.

28 10 2008

Golden Girl —> Pit bull —> Air Head —> Diva. Thus has been the progression of labels given to Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential wannabee, Sarah Palin. Now we can add a new monicker to the de-evolution of the Republican Party’s darling girl. “Whack job.”

And no, this didn’t come from a blog, or the “Liberal Media”. It came from an official in the McCain campaign! Have a listen.

This is a good segment. I particularly like the acknowledgment that the Republican party needs to decide what it’s going to be. After the next four years, which looks like a scenario in which the GOP will be wandering the moors like King Lear, they need to make some choices. Will they look to their pre-Reagan past for inspiration? Or will they allow the party to be cannibalized by the religious right, with the pit bull-diva-whack job as head chef?

This Just In!

As reported earlier, Governor Sarah Palin will star in the upcoming movie X-Men 4 replacing Anna Paquin as the character Rogue. However, Sarah Palin’s character Rogue will no longer reunite with love interest Iceman played by Senator John McCain. In a bold, rogue move Palin has asked for a rewrite of the script. Her new love interest in the film will be a business associate of her husband Todd Palin.

I still think the best thing is for the GOP to splinter in two with the rightwingnuts going their way and the true conservatives going theirs. Heck, the moderate cons can have our moderate libs if they want. Three parties. If we keep the party-system at all.

If you look at her calling out Joe the Plumber, Mary the Hair Dresser, Pete the Roofer… the next thing you expect to hear is come on down and play the election! Which is exactly what she and McCain are trying to do.

Hey mudpups..

I’ve been quiet.. Got a damn cold/sore throat.. Wonder who was at the Leesburg VA rally that did this to me.. hmmph..!

Anyway,, here’s my take on things tonight.

I’ve been looking at McAngry videos tonight, and see a distinct contrast to them when I see the calm, polite demeanor of Obama.

Here’s the weird part. I ruptured my achilles tendon back in June and today was my last med visit and he said i have healed well.. I asked him if he’d been hammered in the stock market and he said he just didn’t look at his losses..

I said at least you’ll be happy when Obama takes over and fixes this mess and he instantly went off into how he was totally in McGrumpy’s corner. He clearly had koolaid on his lips. He even used the Failin is so much more qualified than Obama. Every talking point memorized. Yet, when he asked me why I liked Obama, he didn’t care to hear my answers.

As one of the top orthopedic surgeons in northern VA, he’s very busy and said he would love to discuss this more, but he had a waiting room full of patients. So, it ended there without much more dialog.

My question I ask myself repeatedly, is how intelligent people like a surgeon can’t see what we see. I understand how ignorant racist idiots can justify mcgrumpy, but a doctor? Maybe he makes over $250k and he’s mad he has to pay more in taxes?

But he’s the curious part of the mcgrumpy allure. Middle aged, over middle income, well educated. Yet, he thinks Barbie is better than Obama.!!

It just makes no sense to me.

Good questions, AKM. I can only hope that for the sake of good conservatives (like my hubby who feels so betrayed by his own party) that some new, good, honest and respectable ground will be found from which to rebuild conservativism in America. (I’m not afraid of true conservatives, even though I may not agree with all of their beliefs.)

But I do hope the far right wing religious fringe feeds on itself until there’s nothing left or, at the very least, becomes so marginalized in the American politcal system that it can no longer do any harm. And I do think its utter marginalization can happen if we stay vigilant, if we keep pushing back, if good folk of every stripe (liberal, conservative, green, libertarian, etc.) keep the pressure and the scrutiny on, keep revealing their rant and their nonsense for what it is. Most of us are fully awake now. Let’s stay that way.

The AMA having drumming fear of socialized medicine into MD’s for years. The big fear is that people will take a really close look at their incomes and perhaps think they’re a tad too high. Goalie Sanka in NM,

Don’t know enough about NM Gov Bill Richardson to endorse him for Secretary of State. But, I will say this …

To enhance his appeal to everyday Latinos, Bill Richardson should claim to be a relative of former L.A. Dodgers pitcher and Mexican-American icon Fernando Valenzuela. They look alike beer belly and-all. Richardson can also pass as a relative of the older, retired and overweight world boxing champion Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Duran. A Spanish-language nickname might also help- something like Bill “Ricky Ricardo” Richardson.

No worries. I’m half Mexican. The beauty of being bi-racial is that I can make white jokes and I can make Latino jokes and nobody can call me racist because I am both.🙂

OH, my god, This is such a relief! I’ve watched Sarah Palin for the past 15 years, as she somehow, incredibly, has moved from Wasilla City Council to Mayor to (gasp!) Governor. I’ve been in total disbelief the entire time. How could people POSSIBLY be so gullible?! Her divisiveness, mean-spiritedness, and total devotion to her own personal agenda and political goals are so transparent!
I’ve lost countless hours of sleep over the past two months, had disturbing dreams, and spent entirely too much time blogging. I’m pretty sure I’ve been written off as a nutcase by more than a few of my friends/relatives because of my rantings about this election, and especially about “the frightening absurdity that is Sarah Palin”. The fact that a McCain staffer actually admitted that yes, Sarah truly IS a Whack Job, just makes me want to dance like a wild chipmunk on the dining room table. YES!!! Someone finally SEES it! The truth is finally emerging from behind the thin veneer of Sarah Palin’s “public persona”. She is, very much indeed, a scary, dangerous, woman, and probably a poster child for narcissistic personality disorder.

Marty Hussein,
Being a southern belle and all here’s my take–the scary facists are usually blue collar and working poor. And in spite of their hatred and anger I feel sorry for them. They’re afraid and often have good reason to be as they are usually getting the shaft and on top of it being manipulated by the very people they champion. People like your doctor–and I have very good friends in Richmond who come from the same kind of background–are basically concerned about their money. That’s it. Nothing else. For some reason they resent having to share the wealth. They believe that everybody else got the same start on third base they did or if they didn’t they should just work harder. I’ve heard this my entire life and I’m not young. What can you say? Not much. I just do my best to either have a sense of humor and try to make them laugh or find something we both agree upon. Sigh.

the best thing the GOP could do is back away from some of this hard-right ideology. shake out all this “God hearts Politics” BS and get back to what the party used to represent – smaller government, fiscal responsibility/conservative. the way they look now is like a bigger version of the infamous days of televanelists Jim and Tammy Faye Baker (may she rest in peace).

I guess the label “Rogue” must have had too positive a connotation for the McCain camp. You can envision an evangelical TV ad with Sarah Palin in X-Men gear touting her new rogue identity. “My running mate John mccain may be a maverick, but i’ve one-upped him because i am now a rogue! VOTE YES ON PROP 8 IN CA!! Hee-Haw!!!” Let’s see how the Sarah Palin camp spins the “wack job” label into a positive.

I am sure the comments by eajphd Molten Contra Palin are quite true, too. Though I think medicine is totally up for grabs right now and they don’t know which way to go. Or how they will have to work in the coming years. My husband just had a long conversation with his doc about the difficulties of being a doc these days. Comment f/The New Republic “Defending Sarah”

The Arizona senator, after all, has been well served by his maverick instincts for much of his political life. But, at the most important moment of his career, those instincts led him in disastrous directions–causing him to gamble with his vice-presidential pick, provoking him to suspend his campaign in the midst of the financial crisis, and generally making him appear erratic and unpresidential.

It’s time to turn the tables and try to start another distraction for the Republicans. Here’s a link to all the news agencies again.

Lets write them all and ask them to investigate Todd Palins membership in the Alaskan Independance Party. Lets accuse Sarah of sleeping with a separatist! Maybe we can question her loyalty to the USofA. It’s worth a shot. I know the Dems won’t do it cause they’re taking the high road. Maybe with a little luck we can get one of them to raise the issue.

Other issues that I haven’t heard any MSM cover is the endorsement of Obama by NOW (National Organism of Women) First time since 84 that NOW has endorsed a presidential candidate.

Also, I haven’t seen any mention of the Alaskan Daily New’s endorsement of Obama either.

I’m afraid that with the recent Wall St. mess, the economic conservatives have lost all credibility – and the repubs are ripe for a social conservative right wing nut job takeover. These folks still like Sarah Palin. (I was going to say “warts and all” but I don’t think they see the warts.) She may be looney, but she’s a rock star. Remember, this country elected Reagan and W. I won’t put it past a percentage of the country to rally around Palin.😦 So, I guess our job, as upnorth suggested, is to stay awake!

28 10 2008
asianHusseingrrl"thatone"MN

I think since Palin is so empty of a real personality, people tend to project things on her. She’s the ultimate doll in that she can be whoever you want her to be. Unfortunately for her, there’s no there, there.

28 10 2008
Marty (VA) Hussein Queen Grifter Failin

Here’s my other point.

Less than a week to go before we’re done with McGrumpy Coward, and other than rhetoric, can anyone definitively tell me what his ACTUAL policies are?

He doesn’t seem to have one. Both his and Barbies speeches are just loaded with hate filled comment about how bad Obama is. There is never any actual time spent on policy statements. Why bother? That’s simply not important to the McJerkoff twins.

There is a whole series of videos of crowds going to mcstupid’s rallys. In them, the hate message du jour is spewed by the lemmings WE LIVE NEXT DOOR TO.. How scary is this? ?? Our friends, neighbors, work associates, doctors, all buy it.

But what are they buying? It’s certainly not McDopo’s tax plan. He doesn’t have one. It’s not his energy plan, thats just drill baby drill, but that’s barbies plan. It doesn’t matter it won’t help for 10 years. It’s just fun for them to say. It’s not his education plan. He’s never stated one. It’s not his health plan, which amounts to ‘AMF’s.. you’re on your own’…

so, what is it? Hate. Simple. We knew there would be backlash to a black candidate, but while so many of us don’t see a black man when we watch Obama, the haters always will, and they’ll hate us for electing him. They can’t see what he offers, they ignore what he says.

Hate consumes them. Those videos, Hate filled tirades by people that ARE neighbors. Many of them look like someone we know. Yet, what we couldn’t see what the hate that rages within them. Maybe they don’t even know it. Maybe if we called them racists, they’d be indignant and insulted. Not them, they’d proclaim. But then, what is it? Hate doesn’t need to be racist, it can be hating the unknown, or hating people who have nice smiles.

The end result is we end up with a huge part of America guided by some warped sense of value that maybe sociologists in 50 years will figure out. but it’s out of our control. We’re confident Obama will win, all the polls seem to bear this out. For this, there is some gratitude that enough people are intelligent enough to see past the ugly venom the McGrumpy twins spew on a daily basis.

McGrumpy will go home, his darling Stepford Wife, Cindy will divorce him.
Barbie will go home and she’ll get indicted. The Feds got a taste for Alaskan blood with Teddy and now they’ll focus on Barbie, and my guess is Obama will be the top of the heap wanting her gone.

It’s just sad America has such a huge screwed up population. And this isn’t just about McGrumpy’s candidacy. He could have kept a promise he made way back in March or April when he promised to run a clean campaign, i think he said the cleanest ever.

Yet, from DAY ONE, when it was Obama v. McGrumpy, he was already in attack ad mode. Wright was his first, Ayers, Socialism, and whatever other made up BS they could think of.

In Contrast, Obama has acted like an adult and a professional man who knows his mission. He’s never stooped to the gutter and stayed on message. Explained his plans and dreams, and that’s resonated with so many of us. Fortunately, enough to carry the Obama team to the Presidency.

So many years, our Dem candidates were really the lesser of two evils and we lost twice in the past eight years. This year, there is a clear choice, good v evil and an honest man with integrity will rent the White House for the next eight years. We know he can do no worse than W.. But, unlike in the past, this year, there is excitement and passion. And we sit around a blog in Alaska commisserating with friends who understand.

And we wait for late night on 11/4 with the confidence of the future. And God help us all if we’ve miscalculated. This will be a very sad place to live.

Just vote, and in numbers, we’ll win and we’ll watch that wonderful smile when President-Elect Barack Obama tells us it’ll be ok.

Newsflash!

George Bush has agreed to play William Stryker, the.Christian fundamentalist politician who sees himself on a mission from God to destroy the mutant race through economic catastrophe, for the fourth installment of the movie franchise X-Men entitled “X-Men 4: Mavericks Down!” Stryker is teamed up with his sidekick Karl Rove who plays himself.

The good mutants are led by Wolverine played by the optimistic Joe Biden and the beautiful Storm played by Halle Berry (who is just too hot to be replaced by a career politician).

The militant mutants are led by cynical yet resolute leader Magneto played by Ralph Nader. Ted Stevens will replace Rebecca Romijn-Stamos as Mystique, Magneto’s loyal second-in-command.

Barack Obama will play the voice of the ghost of paraplegic telepath Professor Charles Xavier.

@Marty (VA) —

Have you seen this yet:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/28/13364/503/1011/644778

I ask because the 5th photo made me cry like a baby. A lot of things about this election campaign have made me cry — good tears, tears of hope. I get really really angry about the hate talk and the racism and the rest of the M/P bullsh!t, but I don’t cry about that stuff. The hope & happiness in these faces just really really moves me.

I, too, am a little blue boat in a sea of red. My neighborhood here in Alaska, where the toddler & I have been going door to door, is enough to get ya down. Some people are just so effing rude, as if it is personal to them that I am not voting M/P. Of course I don’t explain to them that until the Palin pick I was a registered republican, that when she was picked I knew that there was no hope for the party unless they go down in flames this time around and have to regroup.

I don’t get it, why these people are so hateful — my husband & I have never scoffed or been angry at Democrats in the past. Big deal, it’s democracy in action, everybody gets to choose their own candidate to vote for. Mind you, I hope that I can never ever understand why people are voting for M/P — I don’t think my brain could handle it, might burst into flames or something. Yes, some people are filled with hate and fear and rage, but some are good people who have their reasons, reasons that I will never understand or relate to, but I’ve got to let that go. I have friends who feel really strongly about abortion, they are one-issue voters, and I have to be okay with that or give up friendships that are decades in length.

Focus on the positives, it’s the only way you’ll get through with your sanity intact.

Coming here helps A LOT.

Hang in there. And don’t invite the haters to your xmas parties.

Yo, I was in California last week and was tripping out on all the “Vote Yes on Prop 8” propaganda. What the hell is going on in the Golden State? Why all the haters?

My liberal friends, if some jerk-off Californian conservative is pro-Prop 8 make the following appeal: “Yo, jerk-off. Think about it this way. If gays want to get married let them. Then, they can get divorced and be miserable like the rest of us.” Jerk-off’s love that “misery loves company” appeal.

I think it’s because recent Hispanic immigrants have trouble pronouncing the “y” sound. Instead, they often use the “j” sound. Since the expression is “yo’ mama,” Joe Mama could be heard as a slur against Hispanics. It’s a stretch, but I think that’s what Olbermann was going for.

Since the “j” in Spanish is pronounced something similar to the “h” sound in english, “yo momma” becomes “ho momma.” but, i don’t think that was obbie’s point. i think obbie was simply calling S Palin a racist idiot for saying, “yo/joe/ho momma” to begin with. The title of the game she will host? MAVERICK!

Sorry, I just love this term, every time they manage to float it. It is so succinct and expressive, with its limitless promise of nothing.

I visualize it as something combining Superman, Wondewoman, the Fantastic Four and the Incredible Hulk.

Can we have the game on a desert island, please? One of those between Alaska and Russia.

Re: sharing the wealth

They are worried about their money? So is the poor guy or gal who works two jobs just to put food on the table. They should thank their lucky stars. The facts are that in many ways the wealthy pay less taxes. For one, people only pay social security taxes on the about first $90,000. Anything above this amount is not taxed for SS. If all income was taxed for social security and the Congress would stop looting it for things like the war, then it would be solvent. The thing is that in the middle class, there are different tax brackets also. There is a higher tax bracket for someone making $40,000 than there is for someone making $20,000. And $40,000 is not very much money. Where is their the incentive to make more money when it is just taxed higher? One would have to make A LOT more money for it to pay off. This is where the wealthy need to be taxed a little more, not the people making $40,000. I could go on and on about the tax scenarios, social discrimination, and government roadblocks that penalize the middle class, low income, and poor people. The rich have nothing to complain about. At least in this country, they still ( and STILL WILL) have the opportunity to be and get rich. In England it is about 50 percent income tax.

The programs were there when we needed them and now we are in a position to help ensure the same programs will continue to exist. This is our obligation and a happy one. We have SO much now, and after 5 years of manual labor to support my family, I know first hand how hard some people have to work to bring home those just above poverty level paychecks. You are correct about Social Security; if incomes above $90,000- say up to $150,000- paid into the system, and the retirement age (for full distribution; you can get some money before age 65) is increased slightly each year for several years, then Social Security would be fine. The program to worry about is Medicare-

I agree with Warren Buffet, who said that there is something wrong with our country when he pays a lower percentage of his income in taxes than his administrative assistant. He also doesn’t believe in getting rid of estate taxes- too bad more Repugs don’t listen to the Oracle of Omaha (my home town, by the way- my childhood home is close to where he still lives)

I’m seriously thinking of changing dentists because of this. I know it might sound weird but I keep thinking now that there’s something I don’t know about him. Something wrong. Is it possible to be intelligent and support McCain/Palin? This election has changed my mind about a number of people – I don’t hang out with people anymore that don’t get it. As a mom who has always been into promoting education, I considered that the campaign would provide a unique educational opportunity for Palin’s children—the travel and the process of election and even exposure to so many different people. However, I think the down side would outway all the good UNLESS they were very well attended and protected from harmful influences and helped by an adult to sort through stuff regularly. I know they have a Nanny, but really, I don’t remember kids that young having been so exposed in a national election.

Random thought before I go to bed:

Had interesting idea today. It seems to me that Mccain throughout the whole campaign was constantly trying to trap, box in or corner Obama on one thing or another. As it didn’t work, he got more and more frustrated. Nothing he did could ever shake him. The pundits all claimed that Obama was slow to respond to the Palin bump but I disagree. They kept on track, never going off message or buying into the media hysterics. Prime example, calling off the debate to “save America.” They thought Obama would fold or at least show some hesitation about the whole thing. Obama coolly and coldly called his bluff and Mccain was left with egg on his face. The same really could have been said about Clinton though I didn’t follow the primary well enough to say for sure.

Anyhow, what struck me is how successful Obama is going to be in regards to foreign policy. If he treats our enemies and frenimes like did Mccain, he will be pretty successful. Most of presidential diplomacy is like the biggest staring contest in the world anywaze, waiting to see who will look away first. If his election run is any sign (and why wouldn’t it be?), Obama is going to be a tough mofo that many of these guys don’t see coming. However, and here’s the beauty of it, the same pragmatic and realistic streak will go along way towards then gaining their respect.

It should be interesting to watch.

Maybe “jo” is code for O.J. And, maybe McPalin’s weekend strategy is to say that Barack Obama was O.J.’s paid assassin that killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. The GOP plans to demonstrate as proof an Obama Hand Sculpture fits the glove left at the 1994 crime scene. The RNC will also put former LAPD detective Mark Fuhrman on the stump in western PA where he will endorse the McPalin ticket laying out the timeline that clearly shows how a 33 year old Barack Obama was able to teach a University of Chicago constiutional law class in the morning, register fake voters for ACORN in the afternoon, fly to L.A. and assassinate two innocent victims at sunset, fly home in time for a nightcap with Bill Ayers and Weather Underground before ushering midnight mass at Rev Dr Jeremiah wright’s trinity unity church of christ where he organized a post-midnight mass roundtable to discuss readings of Karl Marx.

“Obviously both sides are trying to run and create image. Over on the Forum I reported that we’d sent one to my in-laws in PA. They put it up and have had at least one “little old lady” (this from my over 70 year old FIL!) knock on the door and tell them she was happy to see it. She said that politics is a young man’s game and McCain is too old and anyway, that Sarah Palin is a ditz! FIL agreed with her! And he’s been telling off the McCain pollsters too!

Sent one to my grandmother in OR too. She bleeds Democratic blue blood like the rest of us, so she loved it and put it up.

Spreading the word that not all Alaskan like the “diva/whack job/mavericky rogue”!

I did find it, thank you! I answered you in that post, then tried in another… sorry you missed my response. I appreciated your response very much and pretty much felt like a dunce.

Martha,

This is amazing! I am thrilled to tell everyone that signs are coming from Juneau, Alaska to right here in MS. This is such a great story and great teamwork. I spent quite awhile on BO’s website tonight and now need some sleep. Just about 3:00 here. Most of these signs will probably be displayed by Choctaws, as that is my neighborhood. I live on a Choctaw Reservation.
Thank you, Martha and talk to you tomorrow. Thank you, all.
Goodnight. Sweet dreams of victory.

And another thing, I’m getting damm tired of hearing about conservatism! The national debt is eleven trillion dollars. Seventy percent of which has been accrued in the last eight years by conservatives no less. What has been conserved? Our constitution has been wrecked our economy has been wrecked and they want to continue on this insane path with pledges of “I’ll fix whats wrong”, “Sarah the Liar” herself said that she and John will balance the budget in four years! They don’t deserve a chance. Never should she or McCain be allowed near the national cash register. You have a sitting Senator with seven felony convictions that is allowed to continue making laws that everyone else must obey and yet the average Joe the exconvict is stripped of his right to vote.
Our troubles lie soley at the feet of the republican party and theirs alone. If they get busted doing something wrong, why they just go back and amend the rules because they believe it doesn’t apply to them while the rest of the average people in this country are crushed into submission by righteous freaks of supremacy.

I too (like many other concerned progressives) juggle conspiracy theories concerning an emergence of October surprises. One involves a 2001 Obama interview that the McCain campaign is apparently trying to get its hands on. I haven’t read the entire text yet on Huffington Post, but I would guess that by tomorrow, Sarah Palin will be attacking on a new front.

At the same time, I am intrigued (not overjoyed, just intrigued) by the news that Vanity Fair has been pursuing a story on an alleged McCain car crash that occurred 40 years ago (visions of Chappaquidick) just OUTSIDE the gates of a Navy installation and resulted in the hospitalization of McCain and the death or hospitalization of another person.

The Navy gathered the records and filed them away.

Through the Freedom of Information Act, Vanity Fair (along with at least one wire service) has attempted since August to get the Navy to release the 1964 accident records; nevertheless, the Navy asserts that any information it might release would cause far more harm than enlightenment, at least so close to the election.

It seems that both McCain and Palin have led charmed lives, at least in their abilities to previously sidestep personal scandal.

We have literally cried on each others shoulders over our respective divorces. We can candidly talk about anything. BUT……when this election comes up……..he goes batshit…….the blinders go on and the lame-ass talking points spew forth……..he has even used the “n” word………..he is smart and funny….but I dunno no more……..his main rant is “taxes”…….I’m sad for him….

I’ve read only the up-thread comments but just had to hop in now and say that last week I was talking to our CFO, who is voting for McCain and has said he “has to like Palin” (IOW, he doesn’t approve of her but he has to accept her). His words to me were “I’ve worked hard for my money and I don’t want it given to anybody else.”

That statement, along with the statements another acquaintance has made to me that she is going to lose her house and end up in the women’s shelter under Obama, leads me to believe that many repubs are totally selfish and in life for themselves (and their families) only and anyone else be damned.

Galactic Federation of Tanning

National Association for Dividin’ America

That in a nutshell is it. I commented on one of the Atlantic’s articles that I thought the GOP’s current rep was that it didn’t care about helping folks, and that this needed to change if it was going to be attractive to voters. The reply I received was along the lines that Democratic candidates that professed to wanting to help folks were either being unrealistic or were cynically misrepresenting their (selfish) intentions.

It was if the replier intrinsically could not understand selflessness.

To tell the truth, I’d prefer this as an explanation for the rabid response the right has to Obama — that they just can’t understand selfless motives so they’re searching around for the hidden agenda. Unfortunately, I think it’s just racism, plain and simple.

Bigger than any gaffe attributed to Joe the Biden is SWWNBN using the term “Joe mama” in her stump speech as her favorite sign.

Making fun of the Hispanic/Latino population only isolates her and her party from the colorful fabric of this society oven more. I hope she pays for that. BIG.

She’s supremely unqualified to be VP, and she’s even more unqualified to be a decent human being. I no longer feel sorry for anyone who is attracted to her hyperbole and external personna. She’s got evil in her bones. Rapture? Doubt it.

What I loved about the Keith clip was how uncomfortable McCain and Palin looked next to each other. They both avoided looking at one another and while it was a short clip, he only seems to acknowledge her once.

West Virginian: I think McCain has reallocated his resources. Looks like he’s done if he doesn’t win PA so a lot of the money is being spent here now, and particularly in the western parts of the state. Seems like an odd strategy to me, PA hasn’t gone Repub in 20 years!

I don’t believe that Sarah Palin will rise to be the HEAD of the Republican Party.

McCain will make damn sure that doesn’t happen. After their loss next week, he will make it KNOWN that it was her fault. Of course, it won’t be HIS fault for picking someone so obviously not prepared for the office of vice president.

But anyhoo.

Everyone should remember that what Alaska has here, is a Governor that has already been PROVEN that she abuses her power of office, and is unethical. We don’t know when or how the Personnel Board is going to decide. But if and just IF they find her guilty as well, she is going to be put into a situation where her political career is dead.

McCain/Palin is requesting that Senator Ted Stevens resigns, because he is now a convicted felon. Yet, NO one is calling for the Governor of Alaska, after being found GUILTY of abuse of power, and unethical behavior, by the Alaskan Legislation, to resign. That to me, is hypocritical.

The Obama campaign has hit the BULLSEYE with their latest campaign ad. ‘They’re targeting Palin at last!

“A new Barack Obama campaign ad targeting John McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate is making buzz not so much for what it says, but for what it doesn’t.

The 30-second spot is entirely without a narrator, and instead shows John McCain’s past statements appearing to acknowledge he lacks expertise on economic issues.

“I’m going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated,” McCain said in a 2005 interview with the Wall Street Journal.

A quote from McCain in a November 2007 CNN/YouTube debate is also shown, when the Arizona senator said, “I might have to rely on a vice president that I select…”

(The Obama campaign says McCain was particularly talking about relying on the VP for the economy, though McCain was describing a wide range of issues.)

A graphic is then shown displaying the question, “His choice?” — before showing Sarah Palin winking at the vice presidential debate.”

About your doctor, the Ortho….. he’s almost surely an authoritarian follower.
It used to drive me crazy trying to figure out why people thought like that…. until I found out what some psychologists have know for quite a while. They will follow perceived authority (to their own detriment and everyone else’s) right over a cliff!

Bob Altemeyer’s from the University of Manatoba- “The Authoritarians” http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~altemey/

This study completely opened my eyes to how the “sheep” think and feel …
John Dean heavily referenced this study in his book “Conservatives Without Conscience”

from the book: “The studies explain so much about these people. Yes, the research shows they are very aggressive, but why are they so hostile? Yes, experiments show they are almost totally uninfluenced by reasoning and evidence, but why are they so dogmatic? Yes, studies show the Religious Right has more than its fair share of hypocrites, from top to bottom; but why are they two-faced, and how come one face never notices the other? Yes, their leaders can give the flimsiest of excuses and even outright lies about things they’ve done wrong, but why do the rank-and-file believe them? What happens when authoritarian followers find the authoritarian leaders they crave and start marching together?

McCain has no say in the future of the Republican Party. They didn’t want him this year, and they will blame him for the loss as well. The far right is going to try to take over the party and will probably do so for some time to come.
I think Sarah Palin will be central to this new Republican Party unless her legal problems destroy her…and I think she will survive those. The Republican base is going to keep her out there in the news and use her to consolidate their hold on the party.
The good news is that by doing so, they will make it hard for the party to gain much real power. They will still not be able to attract the center, and the independents. The right wing will just stand around making each other feel good about each other.
Just my opinion….

I’m amazed by the incredible amount of public interest in Sarah Palin. Good or bad, she’s become somewhat of a pop icon. People are dressing like her to be and/or mock her all at the same time.

Northern Exposure

The largest group supporting McCain is wealthy white men, mostly older wealthy white men. Their problem this year is likely that there are fewer and fewer of the very wealthy as the wealth has failed to trickle-down to a broader spectrum of folks and we all face the vast abyss of the economic fallout of their making.

29 10 2008
Northern Exposure

The Queen of Narnia can’t decide if she is for “spreading the wealth” as she has said:
“And Alaska – we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.”

Or she thinks spreading the wealth is a bad thing she and McCain keep accusing Obama of proposing to do.

I asked a few McCain supporters tonight. “Could you see John McCain doing an ad that showed him caring for Americans in the same way Obama did tonight”?
Even the most livid McCain supporter admitted that Sen. Obama looked more Presidential and presented himself as “the one”. The one who millions will vote for and elect as our new President. I do not fault anyone who accepts that he or she made a mistake in choosing McCain. It’s time to pick yourself up and come on over to the Obama camp. You are welcome to join at any time.

was gone from home last night, but i taped obama’s 30 minute “get to know me” show. looking forward to watching it tonight. my daughter said it was really good and didn’t mention mccain or palin at all.
i have a hard time believing that obama isn’t alot further ahead of mccain. he would be so far ahead if he was white. i hope everyone that goes out to vote stop and think about what will happen if palin would become president. it is so scary to me. at least biden is capable of being president. i think alot of republicans don’t know what to think about palin. she talks alot, but you don’t know what she says. she goes in circles.
and what about that nut “joe the plummer”( that he’s not) ?? he says he likes the quiet life so why is he doing all the tv stuff he’s doing? if i didn’t want the limelight, i’d just say NO. he’s a big joke, and mccain will use anyone or thing to get elected. go obama

What we maybe Seeing here from this point forward is 3 Parties

The Republicans get back to where they used to be.
Democrats for the most part stay Status Quo

The Radical Right splinters off and becomes its on Party and they elect Palin to be its dictator
(Radical right then becomes a blip on the Radar and from hence forth poses no future threat to the United States)
