You know something occurs to me…McLame’s thing has always been “exciting the republican base”. Always. It’s in every speech he makes, especially when it comes to defending SWWNBN. It’s so divisive. Then Obama comes out and talks about exciting everyone! ALL people are welcomed.

Good for Colin Powell. I’ve wondered when a respected public leader would stand up and ask the question, “What if a Barak Obama was a Muslim?” The implicit message in the suggestion that Barak is a Muslim (snicker. whisper, eyebrow raised) implies Muslims are the OTHER, can’t be trusted, are foreign, Unamerican, might be a terrorist…. The bigoted Ugly American smear not only feeds hatred toward other Americans, but paints us as small, narrow minded people to the rest of the world.

Early voting info in an AP story today. Come on Florida! Need more Schlepping??

Voters in every state can now cast ballots through early voting or absentee voting programs. Results won’t be released until Nov. 4, but a look at those who have voted shows the Democrats have been aggressive.

In Georgia, Iowa, North Carolina and Ohio, Democrats — or at least those living in heavily Democratic areas — are requesting and submitting ballots in large numbers. In Florida, Republicans hold an edge, while in Indiana, absentee voting has been split among Republican and Democratic areas.

I spent the day canvassing for Obama in NJ. He doesn’t need it here, but we’re hitting every ‘lazy’ dem, every independent. I am so impressed that Obama takes nothing for granted. That nothing is wasted, everything is focused.

Impessed as well that McCain can’t get by himself without running into his own webs of insantiy. Palin, of course, being one of the largest. Perhaps Leiberman is second, I don’t know. I watched Colin Powell dissect him and his campaign this morning and cheered. It won’t matter much to progressives, but it should to independents and hanging republicans. Imagine that they’re like chads….

Carol – I bet there will be another celebration rally afterward in Chicago. Mayor Daly will hold one! I hope so. Election night will be a bit difficult – since they have to wait until the polls close at least on the West Coast (sorry Alaska!). It will be November. It will be cold. When do you think Obama would really come out to see the crowd? Midnight? We’d need to bring tents! But it will be a momentous occasion. (I do have to count my chickens – just a little bit).

Why is it that the Republicans say the Democrats are bringing up the whatever card (and I hate that phrase) when Democrats point out some inequalities, but they are sooo quick to slap the label on something when it fits them? Questioning Palin’s qualifications as VP is sexist. Colin Powell could only endorse Obama for race-based reasons. What a load of hooey. It’s like when people in college used to say I was racist for only reading Asian female writers (I went through a separatist phase). My response? I bet the only thing you read are dead white men, but you would never think of it that way.

Or, better yet, “And I probably have read more dead white men than you have anybody of color.”

Colin Powell expressed beautifully the differences between the two campaigns and cited plenty of reasons to endorse Obama.

As for McCain, I don’t think I can feel any more disgust for him than I do at this moment. Having said that, I bet he’ll prove me wrong.

Powell is simply magnificent in this clip. “Guess what folks, a true ADULT in the Republican party”! (That’s what it feels like!). On the other hand, contrast the smug, self-satisfied, canned remarks of McCain.

If you begin the Powell clip, then start running the McCain one, they both run side by side, with Powell’s soaring statements trampling McCain’s hesitant, stop-and-start blather underfoot – then McCain just blinks out, seemingly exhausted!

Great happiness for all you early voters!

The McC camp started to marginalize Colin Powell on Friday as they anticipated the endorsement.

Who could have guessed that in 7 minutes he could crystallize almost every important issue of this seemingly interminable campaign? He met the issues succinctly, calmly, instructively and completely.

The hysteria engendered by Mc/SWWNBN is not only despicable, but is lamentable because the effects will linger well beyond inauguration day. It raises the specter of the most heinous abusers who vow that if they can’t have the object of their affection, no one can.

We must all initiate a healing process just as surely as we have embraced this extraordinary presidential bid.

And we should take nothing for granted…remember to drive all the people you registered to the polls, remember to thank them for their conscientious vote….and we will prevail.

I discovered this blog shortly after McCain announced Palin as his running mate. I’ve read it faithfully since then, but never posted because there are so many intelligent thoughtful posts that pretty much sum up my feelings. But today I wanted to share this. The Houston Chronicle endorsed Barack Obama in it’s editorial section today! That’s the first time they’ve sanctioned a democrat since Lyndon Johnson in 1964. They gave many of the same reasons that Colin Powell mentioned. There’s no chance that Texas will go from red to blue, but this does give me hope that the race will be much closer than people think.

Okay… now that that’s out of my system… Powell is a man of honor. Many of us thought so even thought he assented to being gw’s man. He held his peace then but he’s square into it now. Military folks all over will be following the good general’s lead.

One of his major concerns? The lack of judgment in McCain selecting Palin for the co-pilot seat. That’s the thing which is going to be the playmaker on Nov. 4. The racists may not like having a black man as prez, but Palin scares the hair right off their collective skinheads.

19 10 2008

the biggest difference between Obama and McCain is simple-

Obama is speaking to America and McCain is speaking to conservatives. while Obama is trying to bring us all up, and have a larger discussion, and find common ground to move forward, while McCain is pushing the whispers of the bigots and uneducated in this country and being their mouthpiece of hate.

i barely have the stomach for this anymore.

Go Joe! 12,000 strong in Washington!

(last line pretty cute😉 )

TACOMA – More than 12,000 people filled Cheney Stadium on Sunday afternoon to see and hear Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joseph Biden.

It was Biden’s first campaign stop in Washington state. And with so many battleground states, some people were surprised that he came at all.

But Biden’s message wasn’t just to get out the vote for Democratic presidential contender Sen. Barack Obama. He also was in Washington to stump for Gov. Chris Gregoire, locked up in a tight race with Republican candidate Dino Rossi, just 16 days before Election Day.

“The kind of change that we want to bring to this country will be lost – will be lost here in the state of Washington – if you don’t re-elect Gov. Gregoire,” Biden proclaimed. “She’s already doing it. She’s already doing it.”

The rally turned Tacoma’s Cheney Stadium into a big party for Democrats. And Biden took note of the irony of the stadium’s name – the same as Republican Vice President Dick Cheney – in his speech.

“I want to thank you for making this stadium today, temporarily changing the name from Cheney stadium to Obama-Biden stadium for the day,” he told the charged-up crowd.

“Besides,” he quipped, “if it was Cheney’s stadium, we’d be at an undisclosed location, and you wouldn’t be able to find us.”

Which, to me, translates that Miz Failin must therefore represent the conservative male agenda for America. That certainly seems a rather obvious statement. And shame on conservative males then. Why is it that when things get tough in countries, the first to start losing their ‘rights’ are always the women? The one point I’ve been itching to bring up about this stupid ‘Ayres’ issue. Does no one remember Kent State?
I was there. People, YOUNG people, were killed , not on a foreign battleground, not in a war zone, but in the USA for exercising their rights to free speech. This was the mood of the country in those days. If you had a demonstration, the ‘shield & teargas’ riot police would come.
Imagine, if that was still the case. Imagine if that pro-Obama rally in Anchorage had been met with Palin sending out the Alaska National Guard – just because she can?

Ayres was trying to SAVE America’s freedoms from the establishment that needed to silence the voices of protest in order to maintain favor for a war that cost an unbelievable loss of young lives. Certainly, he chose the wrong route to achieve that, but, at that time, those with the authority to stop what was going on in Vietnam were as guilty of usurping the people’s rights by violent acts as Ayres was guilty of acting on his convictions. Ayres did his penance.
Obama can hang out with whomever he wants. Palin, if that’s her only point of contention with Obama (other than the one’s she can’t mention, like race/religion) needs to go read her Bible again, because the Jesus I know, didn’t steer clear of the criminals and thieves,…because the righteous didn’t need him,…the sinners, the downtrodden, the forgotten, and the children,- did.
Unfortunately, it appears most repugs don’t know what compassion and forgiveness means, and that is sad. But it explains why they rear up whenever anything remotely smacking of ‘socialism’ is mentioned.
All that compassion, care, and love for other human beings is just so,…..un-American?

But Ayers has taken his passions and made a life in education with them teaching and mentoring for educational change in America. Isn’t this what we need? The fact is that the Republicans could not care less about Ayers. In fact, McCain said he was a washed up terrorist. What does that mean? He is hardly washed up by the standards he has lived his life the past 40 years. The GOP is only interested in using him to destroy Obama’s chances for the presidency. Good for Ayers that he won’t make commentary on the issue of how he knows Obama, but just says “Life happens.” He knows better than to play the game.

More say machines changing their votes
by Paul J. Nyden
Staff writer
WINFIELD – Three Putnam County voters say electronic voting machines changed their votes from Democrats to Republicans when they cast early ballots last week. …”

Two county clerks (Repub.) interviewed said this isolated, and both tended to blame the voters for the problems. But even if it happened to a handful of ballots, that’s too much and out of line.

I’d much rather focus on that hottie anti-American separatist who’s out schlepping her kiddies around instead of getting them to the point where they are more educated than her.

asiangrrl… participated is a typo; should be participating. Red China did not participate in the 1960 Olympics but Taiwan did. Some countries were pressuring Taiwan to stay at home while the US encouraged the country to go to Rome. The IOC, led by American jack*ss Avery Brundage (McCain is just like him), would not allow Taiwan to participate as China and come countries, notably the USSR totally ignored Taiwanese athletes – including Yang, who got the silver in a close match with his collegiate teammate, Rafer Johnson. The book is part sports and part Cold War politics, and shows how Rome 1960 and some of our current political issues are very similar.

Maybe Nebraska Republican Chuck Hagel honestly won two US Senate elections. Maybe it’s true that the citizens of Georgia simply decided that incumbent Democratic Senator Max Cleland, a wildly popular war veteran who lost three limbs in Vietnam, was, as his successful Republican challenger suggested in his campaign ads, too unpatriotic to remain in the Senate. Maybe George W. Bush, Alabama’s new Republican governor Bob Riley, and a small but congressionally decisive handful of other long-shot Republican candidates really did win those states where conventional wisdom and straw polls showed them losing in the last few election cycles.

Perhaps, after a half-century of fine-tuning exit polling to such a science that it’s now sometimes used to verify how clean elections are in Third World countries, it really did suddenly become inaccurate in the United States in the past six years and just won’t work here anymore. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence that the sudden rise of inaccurate exit polls happened around the same time corporate-programmed, computer-controlled, modem-capable voting machines began recording and tabulating ballots.

But if any of this is true, there’s not much of a paper trail from the voters’ hand to prove it.

While we are bringing up feminine topics, candidate health issues and a reference to Palin’s baby again — I have to ask some opinions here . At my inlaws’ this weekend I was reading the Sept. PEOPLE mag that featured the Palins. She talks about Trig, her pregnancy, finding out he has Downs, and all of that. I know many of us feel she holds that baby in the most un-motherly fashion half the time. I was convinced Ms. Palin would not be the type to breastfeed. But she talks about how she carries a breast pump and would even be breastfeeding during phone conferences.

I’m not convinced. She does NOT look like a breastfeeding mom. Unless she quit the day McCain snagged her. Which would be a pretty bad thing for a Downs baby, especially with all the dragging around and exposing to big crowds that she does. But then, that 12 hour flight back to Alaska to “birth” him was the first worst thing she did for that baby. What say the other women here? Is Palin a nursing mom?

Pat Buchanan could be a fairly reasonable and perceptive critic of the Bush administration. I had the sense that he was not thrilled that Bush hadn’t carried out the full Christianist agenda he promised to get the fundie vote. Buchanan’s been on right winger autopilot lately, though. Even Chris Matthews warned him to “Be careful, your instincts are coming back,” when Pat was defending Michele Bachmann. I laughed at that one–Matthews said more in one throw away line than he realized. Really wish that MSNBC wouldn’t give him so much airtime. He’s on nearly every show and my clicker finger gets tired having to turn the sound down every time he starts to talk.

Speaking of mongrels (well, SOME of you were) I got such a chuckle a couple of weeks ago, when someone bade goodnight to the site with the phrase, “Goodnight mudpeople!”
The power of words and all that–“mudpeople” is basic hatespeech, a term the Klan and their ilk like to use for those who aren’t as racially pure as they are. Of course, I (and all the rest of us, I’m sure) knew that this poster didn’t mean THAT, but I thought it was kind of appropriate, anyway. We can defuse the intended hate when we claim those kinds of words as our own and wear the label proudly, if it suits us to do so. Especially when we are a diverse and united group, like the community at Mudflats–whether we ever lay eyes on each other or not! I’m proud to be “mudpeople” with all of you!

PS. As far as I know, I’m about as white as it’s possible to be–through no fault of my own! (Irish, Dutch, French, etc.) However, I’m thinking about getting my Dad one of those DNA test kits that will also hook you up, via email, with people who could be related to you (when he first retired, he went into geneology in a BIG way) and also doing one, myself. I took the message to mean that TeachKids and her son had gotten threatening phone calls. This, of course, came after their story was reported nationally (CNN?). Sux big time.

By the way, here’s a good story on a Democrat, Keith Ellison who will easily win his reelection bid for a Rep. Seat, but who is campaigning hard to get people to vote for Franken and Obama. The reason I’m mentioning him is because he IS Muslim, and he DID swear in on a Koran (as he should). He was the first Muslim rep (probably still the only). I wonder why there are no calls to have him investigated?

An long print article will be coming out in the NYT on Monday concerning the fact that both McCain and Palin refused to turn over their medical records to the newspaper. Obama and Biden complied with the paper’s request.

So there is now speculation as to why Palin (or the McCain campaign on behalf of Palin) is refusing to release her medical records.

BTW since Trig isn’t listed among the births at Mat-Su Regional Hospital web site, has anyone tried to obtain a copy of his birth certificate?

Also what ever happened to the GP that was supposedly Palin’s doctor when she was “pregnant”? I refer to the woman who told Sarah not to worry when her water broke there in Texas….

Evening muddies..

Well, read this and say whoa..

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/20/us/politics/20health.html?_r=1&hp=&pagewanted=all&oref=slogin

apparently there are serious concerns about the medical issues surrounding BOTH McGrumpy AND Barbie.

Neither has released records to the NYTimes while both Obama and Biden have done so.

There is even a concern over Barbies claim of pregnancy and the air of secrecy around her med records.

As AMAZING it seems, this is the entire segment of Barbies medical info the Times has..::

Sarah Palin

Nothing is known publicly about Ms. Palin’s medical history, aside from the much-discussed circumstances surrounding the birth of her fifth child last April. Ms. Palin has said that her water broke while she was at a conference in Dallas and that she flew to Anchorage, where she gave birth to her son Trig hours after landing.

Last week Maria Comella, a spokeswoman for Ms. Palin, said the governor declined to be interviewed or provide any health records

Thats it.. McCain has lots of stuff, but there is concern raised by 2700 doctors to release his records and this request has been denied repeatedly.

Just like Barbies repeated claims to have done nothing wrong in her abuse of power issue, her hubby built her house, and a myriad of other issues, now she refuses to release med records .. WHY?? would it reveal she lied about Trig, which has some suspicious activity by the Failin family.

McGrumpy has been avoiding release of his med records for months.. he gave a hand ful of reporters like an hour or 2 to review 1200 pages of complex medical records, no photocopies, no cameras, no recording, thank you very much.

What are they hiding? I am convincd McCancer has cancer again. I am also convinced winning is more important than doing what’s best for America and he’d sacrifice everything to win at all costs, even if he dies a month in office, just to be able to stand up and say he did it.

Only 2 weeks left and i’ve been watching the news and they’ve been even more repulsive in their attacks on Obama. Colin Powell’s eloquent logic about why he would endorse Obama was dead on. This is what others in the GOP need to see and understand.

Yet who knows.. If the doctors justifiable concern is real, and he dies, and in the apocolyptic world of Caribou Barbie as president, this country could be a third world nation before she’s done with us. This would contradict the mantra mcgrumpy has used forever.. There is no Country First in his world, only McGrumpy First, screw the rest.

Lets hope the joke really isn’t on us.

“Lock Pepper: oh, ick. nasty kine haolegirl. Where’s Bridget?”

Yikes–at first I thought that was a blow…me haolegirl transplant kine in hawaii…but of course you couldn’t know that–phew! (wipes sweat)

But of course we are all of the Obama Ohana (hawaiian for family:-)

Has anyone read the essay about McCain in Fiji? “My holiday with John McCain”
Huge insight on relationship with Bridget…and asian hussein grrl…this will really gross you out if you haven’t already read it.

“MY HOLIDAY WITH JOHN McCAIN
It was just before John McCain’s last run at the presidential nomination in 2000 that my husband and I vacationed in Turtle Island in Fiji with John McCain, Cindy, and their children, including Bridget (their adopted Bangladeshi child).

It was not our intention, but it was our misfortune, to be in close quarters with John McCain for almost a week, since Turtle Island has a=2 0small number of bungalows and their focus on communal meals force all vacationers who are there at the same time to get to know each other intimately.
He ar rived at our first group meal and started reading quotes from a pile of William Faulkner books with a forest of Post-Its sticking out of them. As an English Literature major myself, my first thought was “if he likes this so much, why hasn’t he memorized any of this yet?”

I soon realized that McCain actually thought we had come on vacation to be a volunteer audience for his “readings” which then became a regular part of each meal. Out of politeness, none of the vacationers initially protested at this intrusion into their blissful holiday, but people’s buttons definitely got pushed as the readings continued day after day.

Unfortunately this was not his only contribution to our mealtime entertainment. He waxed on during one meal about how Indo-Chine women had the best figures and that our American corn-fed women just couldn’t meet up to this standard. He also made it a point that all of us should stop Cindy from having dessert as her weight was too high and made a few comments to Amy, the 25 year old wife of the honeymooning couple from Nebraska that she should eat less as she needed to lose weight.
McCain’s appreciation of the beauty of Asian women was so great that David the American economist had to move his Thai wife to the other side of the table from McCain as McCain kept aggressively flirting with and touching her.

Needless to say I was irritated at his large ego and his rude behavior towards his wife and other women, but decided he must have some redeeming qualities as he had adopted a handicapped child from Bangladesh. I asked him about this one day, and his response was shocking: “Oh, that was Cindy’s idea – I didn’t have anything to do with it. She just went and adopted this thing without even asking me. You can’t imagine how people stare when I wheel this ugly, black thing around in a shopping cart in Arizona. No, it wasn’t my idea at all.”

I actively avoided McCain after that, =0 A but unfortunately one day he engaged me in a political discussion which soon got us on the topic of the active US bombing of Iraq at that time. I was shocked when he said, “If I was in charge, I would nuke Iraq to teach them a lesson”. Given McCain’s personal experience with the horrors of war, I had expected a more balanced point of view. I commented on the tragic consequences of the nuclear attacks on Japan during WWII – but no, he was not to be dissuaded. He went on to say that if it was up to him he would have dropped many more nuclear bombs on Japan. I rapidly extricated myself from this conversation as I could tell that his experience being tortured as a POW didn’t seem to have mellowed out his perspective, but rather had made him more aggressive and vengeful towards the world.

My final encounter with McCain was on the morning that he was leaving Turtle Island. Amy and I were happily eating pancakes when McCain arrived and told Amy that she shouldn’t be having pancakes because she needed to lose weight. Amy burst into tears at this abusive comment. I felt fiercely protective of Amy and immediately turned to McCain and told him to leave her alone. He became very angry and abusive towards me, and said, “Don’t you know who I am.” I looked him in the face and said, “Yes, you are the biggest asshole I have ever met” and headed back to my cabin. I am happy to say that later that day when I arrived at lunch I was given a standing ovation by all the guests for having stood up20to McCain’s bullying.

Although I have shared my McCain story informally with friends, this is the first time I am making this public. I almost did so in 2000, when McCain first announced his bid for the Republican nomination, but it soon became apparent that George Bush was the shoo-in candidate and so I did not act then. However, now that there is a very real possibility that McCain could be elected a s our next president, I feel it is my duty as an American citizen to share this story. I can’t 20 imagine a more scary outcome for America than that this abusive, aggressive man should lead our nation. I have observed him in intimate surroundings as he really is, not how the media portrays him to be. If his attitudes toward women and his treatment of his own family are even a small indicator of his real personality, then I shudder to think what will happen to America were he to be elected as our President.

Investigator to Interview Palins This Week
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband will meet this week with an investigator determining whether she violated state ethics law when firing her public safety director.

Thomas Van Flein, the attorney for both Sarah and Todd Palin, said Sunday the separate depositions by an attorney for the Alaska Personnel Board will be held out of state. The investigator, Timothy Petumenos, will fly to meet the Palins.

Well, librarians on board, then you should be doubly mad because Palin fired her librarian over a question of censorship and then had to rehire the librarian after the board (of something) protested.

And you’re right – SP does give that vibe. Still can’t believe that she WINKED in the debate. That must be the anti-feminist stuff McCain was referring to. Yuck!

I don’t think the ones who fix the machines want McCain to win enough to fix ’em. They don’t want him leading the party. There seems to be a feeling of hand the economic mess over to the Democrats, retrench the GOP, and come back in 2 or 4 years and bash the incumbents. If they were gonna fix anything, it should have been the primaries.

********************

Not only is voting compulsory, the candidates are chosen by paid-up party members; the electoral system has no involvement. We vote in folding cardboard booths, with a piece of paper and a pencil. The Australian Electoral Office is in charge of all elections and the maintenance of the electoral rolls. Counting is done by the electoral office under the scrutiny of representatives from all parties with a candidate.

It’s not possible for a political party to question a voter’s rights, and it’s impossible to steal an election.

We call it democracy.😉

The Conservative Right is in total shambles. Any Republican with half-a-brain is desperately trying to distance themselves from not only George W. Bush, but also the Palin-McCain campaign as well as Ted Haggard/Larry Craig, Rudy Giuliani, and PHil Graham. It will be a dozen years before the Republicans are able to get enough distance from their current leaders and their dumb, hawkish, racist, self-righteous, judgmental, cross-dressing, closet homosexual, greedy scumbaggy ways.

Rush Limaugh, Ann Colton, Sean Hannity and the rest of the cynical conservative media can do all the race and hate-baiting they want to sell their books and ad space, but America is not as divisive as these pseudo-journalists would lead us to believe. The race problem is about a 5% problem with likely Republican voters. The GOP has shot themselves in the foot in this campaign by targeting this group as their base of supporters all the while scaring off Independents and the 35% of likely Republican voters that do not want to be labeled as dumb, racist, self-righteous, (greedy maybe). Because Sarah Palin has touched a nerve with the 5% of true dumb, hateful, racist, Religulous Republicans that make up Limbaugh’s, Colton’s and Hannity’s base of supporters she is destined to have a successful journalism career (which is what she got her degree in) as a Conservative columnist/radio/TV personality while dividing her own party between the 5%/35% line.

Good post Big Al, I like it. I hope that after this election the GOP does a huge re-org and the fundamentalist nutters are forced to splinter off & create a new party for themselves. I really don’t think they belong under the GOP banner, and the GOPs would probably get plenty of middle-road voters if they revamped the party. I would like to see, in the next election, discussion about real issues & real party values, between Dems & Repubs. The right-wingers with their newly-christened party can have their part of the population & see if they can bring someone to the table that has something to offer other than a right-to-life agenda. Like this thing with Bible Spice — the right to life issue is all that she’s bringing & it is causing utter chaos.

There was a great person on NPR’s Talk of the Nation, Thurs? Friday? Just caught a bit of the conversation, he was a former army chaplain, I believe, running as an independent, talking about how b.s. it is that the GOP uses abortion as an issue when anyone with a brain knows that they’ve not done anything about it for 30 years and will never do anything about it. Not to mention the fact that nobody seems to realize that even if they did manage to get Roe v Wade overturned that the issue then becomes something decided by individual states, and there are very few of them that will outlaw abortion. It is well worth looking for that show. Lots of good ammo for talks with entrenched republicans and right to lifers.

Some of the names knocked my socks off (in a GOOD way) and really opened my eyes. Colin Powell said it perfectly – “Yes. Obama is a Muslim. So what” ?

Here a couple of examples from the list:

# Keith Ellison – Congressman from Minnesota
# André Carson – Congressman from Indiana
# Zalmay Khalilzad – Current US Ambassador to the United Nations. Former US Ambassador to Afghanistan and to Iraq[2] (appointed by Bush?)
# James Yee – former US Army chaplain with the rank of Captain
# Farooq Kathwari – CEO and President of Ethan Allen Interiors Inc.
# Abdul Malik Mujahid – President of Sound Vision and community activist[20]
# Anousheh Ansari – Telecommunications entrepreneur, spaceflight participant
# Fazlur Khan – structural engineer (designed the Sears Tower, John Hancock Center)[21]
# Ahmed Zewail – chemist and recipient of the 1999 Nobel Prize in Chemistry
# Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – NBA Player
# Muhammad Ali – Boxer[31]
# Laila Ali – Boxer, Daughter of Muhammad Ali
# Shaquille O’Neal- NBA Player

“…conterpoint to…liberal, feminist agenda…?”

What the…? So women are being attacked now for wanting equal rights and equal pay and for, gosh, being WOMEN?

Give me a bloody break! I knew McCain harkened back to early 20th Century ideology and policies (aka the Gilded Age), but I had not reckoned on his willingness to push women rights back into an era where they were considered the property of their husbands, fathers or oldest sons.

Colin Powell was so right on MTP Sunday morning. McCain will say and do anything to win this election, even if it tears this country apart. I just wonder how McCain will rehabilitate his much prized honor and integrity after it’s all over? I doubt he’ll have a piece of legislation this time to repair the damage he’s caused.

As an Air Force brat and wife of a Vietnam vet, I am deeply ashamed of this former Naval Captain. He will carry the disgrace and dishonor of this campaign to his grave.
