A Bedtime Story from the Alaska Division of Elections.

19 10 2008

Tonight seems like a good night for a nice bedtime story…  (plumps pillow, tucks you in).  Comfy?  Let’s see….what shall our story be?  Maybe something light and amusing.  We’ve had a tough month.  Hmmm….(looks on shelf and selects an orange-colored paperback with a stapled binding).  Here we go.  State of Alaska 2008 Official Election Pamphlet, Region II:  Municipality of Anchorage, Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Whittier, Hope.  What’s that you say?  Sounds boring?  Well…parts of it, maybe.  How about I just skip to the good parts.  (You nod in approval and snuggle in)

OK…how about skipping to the Alaskan Independence Party candidates?  After all, our potential “Second Dude” was a registered member of the party until 2002, when he became “Unaffiliated.”  That might be fun.

Let’s see… (licks thumb and flips through pamphlet)… OK, here’s one –  Bob Bird.

Bob Bird is the AIP candidate for the U.S. Senate.  That means he’s running against Ted Stevens and Mark Begich.  He was the President of Alaska Right to Life from 1995-97 and is still on the board of directors. He likes hunting, fishing, sports broadcasting, and is a hockey coach…Wait a minute… Right to Life, Hunting, fishing, sports broadcasting, hockey coach?  This seems eerily familiar for some reason….(sudden mental image of Sarah Palin).. Oh dear, I didn’t know there was a scary part!….Let’s skip ahead.

Here we go. Alaskan Independence Party candidate Daniel DeNardo is running for the House District 31 seat against a Republican incumbent.

You can come out from under the covers, this one looks OK. He’s bypassed all the slots where the other candidates have place of birth, spouse’s name, children, education, and political/business experience. He’s replaced it with one long “Biography” section. Let’s have a peek.  (clears throat)

“I study the creation and impact of the Luciferian Marxist-Lenninist Dialectical Sovietism that is the most encompassing secular historical force controlling every incorporated political party; the world’s exchange systems based on perpetual indentured slavery through interest bearing irredeemable security obligations, i.e. federal reserve notes; Law Merchant advisory panels masquerading as “juries”; bar associations composed strictly of card-carrying Kommunist Komrade Kriminals acting in Alaska under the Alaska Supreme Soviet in conjunction with Soviet counterparts in NKVD through the Khabarovsk-Alaska Collectivization Project; and state sponsored Kriminal Globalism’s “perpetual War for perpetual peace.”

Quite a biography. I told you this would be good!  I’m guessing this guy can see the Soviet Union from his house!  But wait, there’s more…

CALL TO REVOLUTION

Alaska’s Divine Destiny – Holy-Writ Book Revelation repeatedly references Alaska Land of Great Eagle; Independent Republic leading Trinity’s force against Lucifer, Antichrist, Kommunist International.

Bar Association – Marxist-Lenninist Kriminals imposing Kommunist Korporate feudalistic perpetual Usury servitudes destroying Common Law Republic.  God-Man declared Satan attorneys’ father: Eternal Punishment, Insane for Alaskans to allow continued existence.

Yes, quite insane, wouldn’t you say?  Krazy, in fact.

There’s quite a bit more, but it’s getting late, and I think you get the idea.

Time for one more…  How about Republican candidate Lynda Placek running for House District 25 against Democratic incumbent, Mike Doogan?

POLITICAL AND GOVERNMENT POSITIONS:  Honesty and A Follower of Jesus in Every thing.  Whats right without Judgement, For the good of the People.  in all aspects

BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL POSITIONS:  Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

STATEMENT:  [snip]  I believe that unemployment is to [sic] high here and Alaskans should be trained for Alaskan Jobs, even up North, on the big money Jobs.  I believe that Education is very important but so is Healthcare for everybody including our elderly (We all will get Old) I’m not sure what is the correct way; to get started getting these things accomplished, But I’m Ready to Rip into Action towards getting it done.  Stand by me on Election Day, as I stand by you.  Please vote for Lynda Placek.

I think Democratic incumbent Mike Doogan is sleeping pretty well these days, even without a bedtime story.  Well, there’s your little peek into the wonderful world of local politics in Alaska. (Tucks booklet back on shelf and clicks off the light)  Sweet dreams!

MORE ON “TROOPERGATE 2:ELECTRIC BOOGALOO”…..

Investigator to Interview Palins This Week
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: October 19, 2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband will meet this week with an investigator determining whether she violated state ethics law when firing her public safety director.

Thomas Van Flein, the attorney for both Sarah and Todd Palin, said Sunday the separate depositions by an attorney for the Alaska Personnel Board will be held out of state. The investigator, Timothy Petumenos, will fly to meet the Palins.

Teach and son are OK. They got some increasingly disturbing messages on the chat, thought it was handled, and then started getting phone calls. Definitely not good. It sounded like the individual was a bit disturbed, and Teach figured it wasn’t worth the stress, and turned off the camera.

I’ve invited them over to the Forum chat, since it’s up 24/7, but they may have something else going. I’ll keep you posted as I know more.

@Eyes Wide,

Bachmann really is scary. I had no idea any law school taught law from a Biblical point of view. (if it’s Biblical Law vs. the Constitution, does Biblical Law trump?) I can’t imagine anyone going to law school b/c it’s her duty to be submissive to her husband. How did this woman ever get elected in the first place? I have to believe she’s having problems hearing God these days, though, b/c no God I know would encourage her to suggest an investigation of the anti-American activities of congress!

What a bunch of wackos! Wow! They must be reincarnated from the 16th century when zealots and the Inquisition ran the world. Yet, I was listening to Jess Ventura on Book TV today. Remember he was the Governor of Minnesota for 4 years? He is interesting but “out there” too. Talking about legalizing “all drugs” because then no one could make money on them (?), and because the Constitution is printed on hemp. So these are his reasons that justify legalizing drugs. Geesh! Well, then maybe poor Cindy McCain would have been out of her misery a 10 years ago! What gets me is why she was stealing drugs from her charity when she is worth over 100 million dollars! Yeah, those drugs really help people make good decisions. We should legalize them. I know I am rambling, but we have some really crazy people as leaders in our country man!

What’s funny about Bachmann is that if it wasn’t for the liberals she would
be at home cranking out babies! Also the bible seems to show that liberal
is a good thing: “The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” (Proverbs 11:25)
Also: “The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.” (Isaiah 32:5)

RE: Bachmann poll — fivethirtyeight.com apparently only does senate races. I did find this Website – with poll results on 10/16 – before the Hardball interview.

http://minnesotaindependent.com/13390/dccc-poll-bachmanns-lead-in-the-sixth-is-down-to-four-points-over-tinklenberg

Here is what they said then —

Poll numbers released by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Thursday show Rep. Michele Bachmann leading Elwyn Tinklenberg by 4 points. Bachmann garnered the support of 42 percent of those polled while Tinklenberg had 38 percent. The poll says Bachmann’s approval rating in the 6th Congressional is at 34 percent.

Here is the Website – and I’m sure there will be some updates this week. Lets hope her words will lower her numbers, and then all our donations will help really kick her ass – with plenty of advertising the last 2 weeks.

That seattle PI story had an interesting comment:
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/383843_alaska19.html

“Over the summer, in addition to all my other endeavors, I’d politicked. I’d worked on the YES side of Alaska ballot Measure 4, the so-called Clean Water initiative. And in the polls it was as clean water ought to be: we were ahead.

A few days before the August primary, when the multinational mining conglomerates were throwing millions of dollars into the pre-election fray, Sarah announced: “Let me take my governor’s hat off just for a minute here and tell you, personally, Prop 4—I vote no on that.”

In that, Sarah sweetly disregarded Alaska law that says it’s unlawful for a governor to advocate for or against a ballot measure. Eventually, she did withdraw her statement but still allowed mining companies to swamp the state with giant ads of her smiling face and statement “Prop 4—I vote no.”

In those ads she gave us commercial fishers a last slap in the face; below her photo was an inset of another photo—her holding a salmon.”

Sarah sweetly disregarded the law. What an appropriate choice to take up Bush’s mantle (once McCain’s age catches up with him).

Does the MSM know about this additional breach of trust?”

Good read. Palin is extremely ambitious. Seen W yet? Think she and Bush have similar need to be top dog, with little if any substance to offer those below. Very troubling that she has been able to wrap herself in Hockey Mom and hide the intense effort she made to get VP consideration and MSM attention. She is selling her persona like Bush did.

Will Gov. Sarah Palin’s appearance on Saturday Night Live have a positive or negative impact on the McCain-Palin campaign?

19 10 2008

Apparently, Palin is talking to her press corp more often these days. Her response to the situation in Afganistan:

“And we do need more troops in Afghanistan and we need that same surge strategy that’s worked in Iraq and we need to make sure that we have that counter-insurgency strategy, too, in place,” she said. “We need to grow our military. We need to incentivize our young Americans to realize what it is in terms of benefits and service our military can offer. We need to grow our military and get more troops in there. Work closer with the leaders in Afghanistan and make sure that with our NATO allies also that we are all working together there to fight that War on Terror there. Also, we can’t afford though to lose in Iraq and think we are going to be any better in Afghanistan. That’s why we are still opposed to an early or premature withdrawal from Iraq. We’ve got to win both the wars on both those fronts Afghanistan and Iraq.”

This woman CANNOT be POTUS. How can anyone read this and think she really has any understanding of what is going on in Afghanistan? I would love for some one to ask her follow up questions like what counter insurgency methods would you transfer from Iraq to Afghanistan? If we are forced to leave (we have thirty days or so to negotiate or have to leave immediately), how will a deteriorating situation in Iraq effect the war in Afghanistan? ETC, etc.

She is like a little girl proudly parroting what she had heard her parents say when they thought she wasn’t listening. How can anyone be blind to that fact? Take the ethics issues and all out of the picture, how can anyone just blindly be okay with comments like this? It’s mystifying.

She did say Bachmann was basically cucu for coco puffs, so I will giver her props for that.

I found a full list of newspaper endorsements to date, for both candidates. Obama widens his lead to 104-32. The circulation totals are Obama – over 10 million, to McCain – under 2.5 million.

http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003875230
And here is a good article by Greg Mitchell in HuffPo, on why this really matters:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/greg-mitchell/why-obamas-shocking-lands_b_136010.html

“I argued here recently that while some scoff at the importance of newspaper endorsements, what about this: On the eve of the 2004 vote, I looked at the 15 top toss-up states and picked the winner for each – based purely on newspaper endorsements (size and number). I got 14 right, only missing on Florida.”

If that standard holds true this time… it’s looking good for O.

I once again apologize for Michele Bachmann. As I have said, she is from a very Republican pocket, but the race is tightening.

@knikgoose HUSSEIN!! justaskin, I have read that before, but the traditional media hasn’t seem to have picked up on it. This is the first time I’ve really paid this much attention to an election. In the past, I usually think, “Well, I know for whom I’m voting, so it doesn’t matter.” What I’ve learned this time around, however, is how hard you have to dig for anything other than superficial and sometimes made-up talking points. Remember, it’s in the best interest of the traditional media for this race to tighten up. That’s their aim in the next few weeks.

@Lacy Lady, sadly, I think the wingnuts will really take to the streets if Obama wins.

No matter your religion or lack there of, let’s make sure to pray/meditate/ send out good vibes to the universe that this election passes smoothly and peacefully.

Remember all the discussion of Fannie and Freddie, and how the Dems and Obama had blocked legislation for Regulation?
Well, wouldn’t it be ironic if it was really Repubs who blocked it?

A lobbyist group called “DCI was undermining support for the bill in a campaign targeting 17 Republican senators in 13 states, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press. The states and the senators targeted changed over time, but always stayed on the Republican side . . . McCain’s campaign manager, Rick Davis, or his lobbying firm has taken more than $2 million from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac dating to 2000. In December, Freddie Mac contributed $250,000 to last month’s GOP convention.”

while Americans looking at the nations’s “leading newspaper,” the New York Times, found a vast belching of psychobabble and personal gossip about Cindy McCain taking up the front page, the rest of the world was learning this:
Financial workers at Wall Street’s top banks are to receive pay deals worth more than $70bn (£40bn), a substantial proportion of which is expected to be paid in discretionary bonuses, for their work so far this year – despite plunging the global financial system into its worst crisis since the 1929 stock market crash, the Guardian has learned.

Staff at six banks including Goldman Sachs and Citigroup are in line to pick up the payouts despite being the beneficiaries of a $700bn bail-out from the US government that has already prompted criticism. The government’s cash has been poured in on the condition that excessive executive pay would be curbed:

Krystal (22:17:55) :

I think part of the problem is the Biblical mystique of God selecting the least likely candidate to carry forth his work – David vs. Goliath, Gideon, Deborah (of the famous Deborah anointing granted to Palin). etc. The less likely she seems to the “worldly”, the more likely she seems to the “Godly”. The key to this is the idea that she will be given a prophetic voice when the time comes and then lead the true believers into their logically unlikely victory. Of course this whole view overlooks the New Testament entirely, because the Old Testament is more fun with all sorts of violence and (self) righteousness. Naturally the Book of Revelation thrills them because it compresses all of the horror and destruction and gives the self-righteous the sense that they will finally have revenge.

Definitely did enjoy it. Well researched.

When describing Palin’s Wasilla excutive tenure some chilling facts emerge: “City employees were forbidden by her to speak to the press, and during her first four months in office she provoked a string of appalled editorials in the local paper, the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman:

Wasilla found out it has a new mayor with either little understanding or little regard for the city’s own laws.

Palin seems to have assumed her election was indeed a coronation. Welcome to Kingdom Palin, the land of no accountability.

Mayor Palin fails to have a firm grasp of something very simple: the truth . . . ”

The more I find out about Palin, the more sinister she looms.

Of course you don’t need to apologize for Bachmann, any more than I need to apologize for the loons that thrive in the Central Valley. I think this Presidential campaign is not going to be a good thing for her. She has really been the gold standard for wingnut lunacy — Palin needs to study her work — but she hasn’t formerly received much national attention. I don’t think the national attention (and the donations to her opponent) is going to be helpful to her.

BTW, I grew up — long ago — in Milwaukee, and I always considered Wisconsin to be a progressive state, on average (think Bob LaFollette). But we progressive Badgers always regarded our neighbor to the west as a real hotbed of liberalism (and that was a good thing). And I’m sure that is still true. There are always a few conservative districts even in the most liberal states.

Just think how delightful it will be if Bachmann’s big mouth ends up killing her re-election. I’ll save a half-bottle of champagne just for that.

Palin hometown a window into her environmentalism

“WASILLA, Alaska (AP) — Long before John McCain made Gov. Sarah Palin his running mate and before her views on global warming became a campaign issue, Palin’s environmental priorities were crystallized in a city where she was mayor and where development long has trumped conservation.

Palin declared Wasilla “open for business,” and business rushed in: Dozens of strip malls sprung up along the city’s two glacial lakes.

The costs of such fast — and sometimes haphazard — growth can be seen even from Palin’s lakefront home. Once-pristine Lake Lucille is plagued by high levels of phosphorous, which chokes off oxygen from the salmon and trout. Scientists put the blame on nearby development.”

Uh…. business and professional positions? is the pursuit of happiness a professional position? in that case, I want to apply! I was endlessly amused thinking of someone filling out a job application like this, with grammatical trainwreck nonsequiturs, and expecting to get the position. If she wins, Alaska’s really got a whole lot more of the krazy politiks than I realized.

Palin’s ‘maverick men’

“NOBLESVILLE – Jimmy Campbell stood shirtless on the riser behind Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin on Friday with the letter “K” painted in red on his chest.

The Ball State University junior’s seven friends lined up to his left – shoulder to shoulder – each with a different letter painted on their bare bodies.

The sold-out crowd of more than 24,000 people at the Verizon Wireless Music Center could read the message clearly.

“It spelled out ‘MAVERICK’,” J.D. Dalfonso, junior public communications major, said. “They were called the ‘maverick men’ all day at the rally.”

Frances McDormand compares Palin to ‘Fargo’ character

Frances McDormand took several shots at Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, comparing her to Marge Gunderson, the farcical small-town police chief the actress played in the movie “Fargo.”

“Marge Gunderson is a fictional character,” McDormand said to cheers and applause at the sold-out Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, “and so is Sarah Palin.”

Jamie, Floridian in Florida (01:47:27) :

The problems seem to be related to electronic voting machine settings. This is the first time they have been used extensively in a Presidential election and there are questions about the potential for fraud and election rigging. They first time they came up was in 2004 to quote online article:
“The head of a company vying to sell voting machines in Ohio told Republicans in a recent fund-raising letter that he is “committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year. The Aug. 14 letter from Walden O’Dell, chief executive of Diebold Inc. – who has become active in the re-election effort of President Bush – prompted Democrats this week to question the propriety of allowing O’Dell’s company to calculate votes in the 2004 presidential election.”

Diebold dominated the voting machine market and O’Dell is said to have boasted that he would do whatever it takes to re-elect “W”. The machines had no paper trail to check votes against. The situation is better today, but some machines may be set to discount the Presidential choice if the voter choose to vote a “straight party ticket” rather than individually marking the choices by office. There are a lot of explanations for this, but the suspicion is that it would act against less educated, poorer voters thereby disenfranchising them. Since the poor are more likely to vote democrat and the voting machine company executives are more likely to be Republican, this raises the specter of systematic disenfranchisement.

The real problem is each state sets its own rules so there is a lot of variability. Some of it may be innocent mistakes. Other parts of it could be deliberate, as was the historical case with institutional racism and the use literacy tests and other artificial means for voter suppression. Given the hanging chad problems in 2000 and questions about voter suppression in 2004 and the highly charged emotional atmosphere of this election, people are hyper-alter to possible problems. Of course there is always the chance hyper alertness can go into over-drive and become paranoia. However the risks are real and the Democrats are taking every possible step to reduce the chances of fraud.

I watched an intrview of French filmmaker Daniel Roussel last night on the French news. He dug into John McCain’s experience as a POW to see what was truth and what wasn’t (McCain’s truth). He went to Vietnam, interviewed McCain’s jailer, bought archival images from the Vietnam army and talked to as many people as possible. I found this brief summary on another blog :

“FLDZC wrote:
Shawn M Lang,
I do live in France, … I just saw on French TV nightly news (channel 2) a recent documentary by Daniel Roussel which I wish Americans could see. It interviews and videos the guy who pulled McCain out of the lake (there was no bayonetting, as McCain later lyingly said), the former head of the POW camp (there were no tortures during Mccain’s incarceratiion, contrary to McCain’s lie that he was tortured for four straight days), and the Viet Nam nurse who fed and cared for him. There’s even footage of McCain’s having said…”I’m well treated here” (in the POW camp).
The whole McCain POW “suffering” appears to be a fabrication, in part because of the political mileage he got out of it, and, in part, because Nixon needed a “hero” in 1973 to restore some pride in the country after having lost the war. This is not the first time McCain’s “hero” status has been brought into serious doubt. YouTube has many interviews with former POW’s who attest to McCain’s profiteering and lying. I hope this French documentary becomes available in the USA. It’s an eye-opener. When Roussel asked the former head of the POW camp why he didn’t submit his views to American news networks, he replied “I do not want to get involved in American politics. And besides I don’t want to hurt McCain’s chances to win the election. You see, I know John McCain, and I don’t know Obama.” If this documentary is substantiated, as I have little doubt it will be, it casts a very bad light on John McCain.”

McCain’s jailer says there was no torture, no beatings, no mistreatment. When McCain returned to the US, he was somehow caught up in the whirlwind of attention and media and he and the Republicans, in looking for someone to regild the tarnished image of the US in the eyes of the world, found someone that they could paint a hero.

The thing is that here in WV (and many other states) we have a lot of older people who are the last bastion of a “paper” newspaper. They get the paper everyday and believe that if it is written in the paper, it’s the God’s truth. Here where I live our local paper is owned by Ogden Newspapers which are totally biased towards the GOP party line. And the older residents here believe that if Ogden prints it, it must be the truth. The sad thing is that it’s the OLDER resident that does most of the voting. I personally have discontinued getting (and paying for) the Wheeling News-Register and The Intelligencer because of their obvious bias. I also have begun to boycott those businesses that advertise with them. So yes, candidate endorsement does count.

The “My Vacation with John McCain” story posted by Lock Pepper above (20:28:48) fits right in with the “Make Believe Maverick” article in Rolling Stone, which recounts this revealing anecdote:

“During his 1992 campaign, at the end of a long day, McCain’s wife, Cindy, mussed his receding hair and needled him playfully that he was “getting a little thin up there.” McCain reportedly blew his top, cutting his wife down with the kind of language that had gotten him hauled into court as a high schooler: “At least I don’t plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cu*t.” Even though the incident was witnessed by three reporters, the McCain campaign denies it took place.”

Jane Mayer’s article on which political insiders picked Palin and the game she played to get there. VERY instructive for Alaska when they get her back.

i tend to be petty sometimes – but what is up with this woman’s calves?

Bachmann (i guess she is giving her testimony in church?? – god sent her a vision of her marrying some guy in a valley in wisconsin – wonder how that happens exactly…..)

Holy crap. I am so glad I didn’t get to read this post before going to bed last night. I’m sitting here with eyes like soup plates and my mouth hanging open.

Just in case the question went under in previous threads and comments: WHAT IS IN THE WATER UP THERE??
Good Lord. I thought the swamp gas here in MN isn’t quite the thing for brains, but Alaska water makes it look like cerebral health food.

Ok, I request a sponsor to drive my two wayward brain cells and me through the citizenship application process and to collect donations for the application fee and associated costs, so that I can vote vote vote. C’mon, people, the country NEEDS every possible vote! Mine is sitting here grinding its teeth to the bone.

AKM, thanks for finding all these goodies… and I am SO glad that you got a few people up there that can draw more good people out of the woodwork to counteract the floozy-doozies.

I lived in Minnesota during the “Jessie” years. Many of us were pretty appalled by the election, but he actually ended up being pretty good at governance. I couldn’t stand to listen to him, but as long as I didn’t have to hear him, I was not all that disappointed in his tenure. He is pretty much single-handedly responsible for the Twin Cities light rail going in. He had to fight tooth and nail against a burgeoning Republican majority in the MN legislature.

okay – one more post on bachman — long article very interesting – my secular nature sees the machinations of the born again in the political arena and wonders what that has to do with jesus?

oh and just say no to intelligent design – and pick up a biology textbook that has science in it and READ. so parlor tricks please. no tent magicians. just regular ole hard science with a smattering of partial differential equations.

Thanks AKM and all the mudpuppies here! Everyday I learn so much about SWWNBN or “Bible spice”. On Dem. Underground some have thought I was from Alaska b/c I know so much about her. Many people do not know all about Ms. Bible Spice.
DU is a good place to go to get the word out: http://www.democraticunderground.com/
Ok, so we’ve seen “Joe the plumber” “Ed the dairyman” how about “typical American, unemployed”?
I’m sure she would either ignore or say her and McSame will use their “mavericky ways” to correct the situation, LOL!
I can’t wait until this election is over. I have my absentee ballot partial marked…Obama/Biden…but need to look up the congress people and propositions.
I’ve heard that you need to send you absentee ballot “certify delivery”. Does anyone know? I think I might call the voter registration place and see what they say.
Once again thanks AKM!
Muppupies too! 😀

Down South, we label such people as “eccentric” and make up stories about shell shock from the war and such.
However, we also tend to keep them safe and comfortable in the attic or the basement–we TRY not to let them out long enough to run for office.

Just wanted to mention that Diebold is still in the voting machine business, though you won’t see that name out there anymore. They have changed their name and I can’t believe it, but I can’t remember precisely what the new name is. Something with Solutions in the name. Election Solutions? Something like that. I know somebody will run with this and give us the actual name.

Ok update on absentee ballot. There is a insert in mine, says mail with a .42 cent stamp and my county has a nifty tracking system to track when you got your ballot and when it is received back to them. Check your absentee voter pack and maybe your county has something similar. 😉

After Colin Powell’s MTP, he answers reporters, and slams M/P…. “Powell noted that the constant right-wing efforts to a) falsely label Obama as a Muslim; and b) make “Muslim” some kind of slur, not only undermines national unity, but also damages America’s standing in the world. “Those types of images going out on Al Jazeera are killing us around the world,” Powell said. ”

Also slams Michele Bachmann 🙂

Palin thinks we ought to “grow our military”?? Like, does she even know what that means? There are times when I get a sense that she takes anything and everything she’s ever heard or read and just jumbles it all together. Problem is, without her realizing it, is that she ends up sounding like a dumb cluck.

And that’s who McCain picked as his running mate?? Good lordie but that man sure is stupid. Maybe even more so that she.

pennsyltucky has its share of wacked out numbnuts. Alaska does not hold a monopoly in that category.

Hey, the first Bush winning the first time felt like the end of the world to me. Same with the 2nd Bush, and then even worse when no. 2 got elected for a second term.

But I’ve survived.

And so, too, will the anti-Obamaists.

Still cannot get over the sudden disappearance of Ann Coulter. I’m sure she’s not pregnant so it is very likely that she’ll not be voting for Palin come Nov. 4.

Yeah sauer kraut, you and me both re Anncoultergeist. I wonder if she’s miffed cause spanky mclame didn’t pick her to be his running mate.

Well just checked out AC website and…SURPRISE, SURPRISE! She backs “the heritage foundation” http://www.heritage.org/ A Ultra right-wing christian org. that is similar to the CNP that vetted Bible spice. She has a article on Obama “Lucifer is my homeboy”
{rolls eyes} and rips on Biden. I’m thinking she is for Bible spice but not Mccain and they only way she can endorse is with the hope that mccain, succumbs to his cancer shortly after being elected, and of course we all know a good christian can’t pray for that…riight???

Been reading posts and comments here, linked articles, comments on those articles and headline stories, and assorted other tidbits across the political fields and continents.

The impression I got is that McCain/Palin supporters simply can’t – or staunchly refuse to – see beyond the immediate here and now as it affects them in their narrow life. They respond well to a narrow campaign which doesn’t confuse them with “the bigger picture” or any issues which require thinking about or understanding the facts mentioned. They’re happy with promises tailored to their own personal concerns, a “hot gal” (in lieu of a male of equal mass appeal) to root for, a “bad guy” to hate, and the chance to show up the elitists whose ever-present intelligence has scraped their blue-collar ego forever and a day.

They’re America’s small minds, supporting a campaign that represents and encourages small minds. *Shudder*. I think the last thing this country needs is small minds ruining it any further. And I wonder how many of those supporters would actually be satisfied and content with the results of a small-minded government a few months or a year into such an administration. You know, given their “here, now, me” attitude.

In fairness to the Alaskan Independence Party, your blog post ought to note that the party filed a case in federal court to keep Daniel DeNardo from running in its primaries. The party lost the case in the 9th circuit just a few weeks ago. The party leaders are being sued by Daniel DeNardo for slander. Even though the party lost the case, when the 9th circuit heard the case, in Anchorage, there was extra security, because DeNardo (who did not show up) has been known to threaten judges before.
