Repeatedly, BO stated that he would not raise taxes on the middle class. Repeatedly, JM said that BO would raise taxes on the middle class. Am I living in some kind of alternate universe?

So what was McCain alluding to when he said the Obamas had a choice of schools in D.C.? Vouchers? Charter? Magnet?
We have choices of schools in S.C. too – magnet schools within the district. NOT vouchers.

Nevertheless…we have a lot to do in the coming weeks in our own individual spheres of influence to “get out the vote.” President Obama has such a nice ring to it…and WE are in this thing together….differences and all!

OT sort of
To ensure a 60 vote majority in the senate and to make sure there is no seat Sarah can appoint herself to …. send money to Mark Begich’s campaign. This is something very positive to do for Alaska The following is a letter I got from them today.

Ted Stevens’ campaign and the National Republican Senatorial Committee have launched negative attacks against Mark. It’s a mishmash of their usual lies and innuendo – but we won’t be ‘swift boated’ and are therefore fighting back hard with ads of our own.
Today is the last FEC filing deadline before the election. We need to raise as much as we can by today to push back against these smears being put out about Mark.
Donate $25, $50, $100 or more today to help us fight back against these negative attacks!
We have all seen these dirty tactics before. We know the damage they can cause in a race this close.
We need to come together and make sure we don’t let the negative ads and fear-peddling stop us from giving Alaskans the representation they deserve!
You have gotten us this far. Over 10,000 supporters like you have taken this campaign into their own hands. You know that we can only do this together.
Make a contribution today to take a stand against these negative attacks and to send a new type of leadership to Washington.
We need you now more than ever. Only together can we move Alaska forward.
Thank you,

I thought this was the best of the three debates. Most mano a mano and I liked that. A chance to see who they are, where they stand (a bit more). I thought McCain did the best of the 3 but he still comes across as erratic, snide, petulent and just wrong on the issues. I give the debate to BO-

Of course I wishe Obama had challenged McCain more on the lies- SP’s experience (lack of); the HATE speech at McCain rallies etc. BUT I get why he doesn;t. He focuses on the issues (as he should) and everyone has seen the hate at the McCain rallies. For McCain to say he is proud of his rallies is just evidence of his insanity,

Obama was gracious to McCain; McCain was still mean to Obama and ppl saw it. So KUDOS to Obama for running a more focused debate.

Go Obama!

What I fail to understand is this concept of 80% of Americans doing better in an Obama administration, and 20% doing better in a McCain administration. Do we not realize that we ALL do better if the 80% are living comfortably, without worries of feeding their families and having quality health care, let alone paying for higher education, without resentment towards the 20%. Don’t we ALL want an educational system that puts on par with the rest of the world? Don’t we ALL want our kids to have a future they could look forward to?

By the way, here’s an idea for revolutionizing our educational system. Put another teacher in each classroom.

Actually Roe v wade gives the decision to women -and- the state, depending on the trimester.
The reasoning is pure and simple. As the pregnancy progresses the state has increasing interest in the life of the fetus, from virtually none in the 1st trimester to more substantial interest in the 3rd, and its up to the state to assert what its interests are.
Its perfectly reasonable judgment IMO.

New Obama ad will air nationally:

“Who is the REAL Joe The Plumber?”

Has more houses he could ever plumb. Does not fix anything, only wants to drill. His tools are a hatchet and nukes. Does not like to sit down with terrorists (piles?). OK, except with Obama, if really is necessary. Ready to flush you down the drain when you are sick. And he is your friend.

as a single, middle class woman…who works hard, pays her bills…I was especially offended by mccain’s apparent ultimate intended insult to obama..that he wants to “spread the wealth around”…..I’m sorry…when I read about corporations making BILLIONS of dollars profit (and who WORKS for those corporations making BILLIONS of dollars??)…I happen to AGREE to the tenet of spreadig the wealth around…it is the religion of GREED….especially among big business…that leaves he middle class…the WORKING class behind!

My husband and I own a construction company. Plumbers bill out at 100 bucks and hour minimum. Most of them drive brand new trucks and live in the nicest house on the block. They typically make more than the general contractor does. Obama’s plan raises taxes on bussinesses that make 250,000 or more in PROFIT. We had a good year last year we made about 90,000. My husband bills out at 50$ an hour. So I would gather a typical plumer makes about 180,000. Hardly someone we need to have sympathy for. Now unless Joe lives in Manhatten he will be OK. I can’t even imagine what a plummer charges in Manhatten.

McCain goes over the cliff … on “health” exception for women and abortion. “cruel” … Every woman in America should run screaming from the edge of that cliff. Hey John — do men have “health” issues or is that just another way of saying they need Viagra? Clearly McCain has an issue bigger than his own “health” — he wants women whose health is at risk to die rather than have an abortion. So much for his government getting out of our lives.

shout out to blue! my dad was “joe plumber” (although my dad’s nickname was dick..he was dick plumber)
inherited (worked in since high school) his father’s plumbing business in “small town” america
I don’t think my dad ever made $250,000 in any year…but he scrimped and saved and had money to end his 3 children to college (the middle son was a goof-off and didn’t take advantae of what was offered)
my dad never expected a hand out, not ever claimed “privelege”, he taught me that we are all god’s children, and employed those who would be considered “down on their luck” and continued to support them…
my dad died as the owner of a plumbing/heating business…he is the ultimate “joe plumber” in my eyes….
concerned with those less fortunate, color-blind, willing to pay his taxes and work hard (paid all three of us kids to attend private catholic schools and never complained about the government-run schools)
it was a simpler time…and, as the business owner “joe-plumber” that mccain tried to portray tonight…my dad….god bless his soul…would have been voting for obama on nov 4th
bottom line…for my dad…VALUES always trumped business…it didn’t make him rich monetarily…but he was rich in my eyes and to all who knew him!

Heh. We could, but mine goes bye-bye if I’m not on my own, which would cut yours in half, which leaves nothing for donations to Obama (asked me how I know that). But what with you being rich and all, you might take me out for a Starbucks coffee so I finally get an idea what the hype is all about. What, Joe the Plumber didn’t annoy the heck out of most of you?🙂

Loved hearing McCain whine about the town halls–“I had to attack you because you wouldn’t debate with me two dozen (?) times in my favorite format.” Somebody call the whaaaambulance.

CNN’s talking heads said Obama sounded “flat and professorial” in the debate–I’ll take that over McCain’s grimacing, peevish performance. I’d rather have a president who is professorial than one who is as disingenuous and out of touch as McCain.

strangelet (Speck Backfire Hussein P.)

Just a remark to those who feel that Obama should have perhaps been a little more aggressive. Remember, the target audience for this debate was the remaining undecideds (even though us decideds may watch). Personally, I think the campaign made a good choice in sticking to the issues, and remaining “Presidential”, because ultimately the undecideds are going to lean towards the one who looks like a President.

In particular, I think “The American voters will decide” about Palin’s qualifications was a master-stroke, because (1) none of us who consider Palin the lowest of the moosebegotten will change our minds; (2) any undecided voter who has paid ANY attention so far already knows that Obama thinks Palin is hideously under-qualified; (3) it’s a reminder to those “undecideds” that their votes matter, and if they don’t take this seriously they could actually end up with Madame Mooseberry in national office.

And I apologize to Brian and Brenda for using the term “moose” in connection with La Bozina. I just couldn’t resist.

Deb, I hope I didn’t sound snotty about plumbers. I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to make a point that they make pretty good money. You are right most have a small one or two man operation. Joe the plumber who talked to Obama about raising taxes must be buying a fairly big plumbing company if they have a profit of over 250,000. I know I would be living very well making over 250,000 a year. I would be happy to pay a little more in taxes as I am sure your father would have. May I add. Alot of the construction companies by me were driving aroud in Hummers with thier logo’s on them a year ago. To me this says alot. I am happy to say some of thease companies have now gone under. My husband and I have older trucks and saved 30,000 last year.
I guess what I am trying to say is mabie it’s time people were forced to pay a little more for the greater good.

Off topic:

I had to go get an MRI today. It involves an IV with contrast dye (to make “your brain light up like a Christmas tree in the pictures”, said the nurse). I’m a needlephobic, and although the last nine years’ worth of getting stuck and poked frequently have dulled me a little, the idea of an IV still freaks me out. Well, DID freak me out. In desperation, I decided yesterday to pull a palin and insist that I’m very pleased, very pleased indeed that I don’t have a thing about needles, that there’s no hint of my ever having been phobic about needles.

It worked.

Let me repeat that. It worked. It was an ordeal more for the nurse who had to find a workable place to stick the thing in than on my part – there was no freaking out, no nothing. Also, too.

I was stunned. This is how Palin does it, she just walks in telling herself the bullshit she tells herself, and she believes it, and that’s that. It works. Good God.

At least I had the good sense to say a little prayer that my house of cards wouldn’t collapse before they stuck the IV in me. Looks like Sarah had it the wrong way around in that respect :o) But aside from that, I have now fulfilled my moral obligation to say ONE friendly thing about her… a usually very bad experience paled to “tolerable”. Who’da thunk?!

” but .. bla bla military service, fight for you.”

Then McCain gets up and says – bla bla military service I’ve , fought for you
all my life. fight fight fight for you …

Did anyone know hes a war hero ?
Yep he was in combat for 20 hours, and was awarded lots of fight for you hero medals. hmm thats one hero medal every 2 hours …

and did you know he was a hero POW ?

I know because Sarah Palin told me. John won’t say anything about it. He won’t say anything about it until she stops talking about it.

Did you know he fought for our freedoms in Vietnam ?
Yep, this is McCain’s fight, and we’re just fellow prisoners in it.

And do you remember Cindy McCain introducing him at the RNC? She said how her father was a fighter pilot in WWII and he never talked about it, because he was so noble and modest…nope, he never talked about it. “Just like” her husband. HUH?!? I think the format was supposed to foster more of a conversation. Conversations require looking at one another. McCain is incapable of that. Unless he’s rolling his eyes.

Both primarily spoke to the moderator, though Obama surely looked at McCain. I saw news clips today of prior debates where the debaters actually engaged. I don’t know if that’s necessarily better. As they engaged, they fought.

Andrew Sullivan wrote on his blog that while they are quite different, both are classified as “special needs” on Wiki. However, someone else wrote a great thread on Daily Kos saying that with a baby, you don’t really know the full implications of a Down’s Syndrome child. It’s when they are older that you see their special needs in evidence. Cllearly, McCain doesn’t understand what it means if he is holding out Sarah Palin as an expert on it, since her baby is so young…and she is somewhat new to the issue as a parent.

HELENA – In an unusual move three weeks before the election and after a failed attempt to challenge voter registrations in some Democratic strongholds, the Montana Republican Party said Tuesday night it was changing executive directors.

Former state Rep. Larry Grinde of Lewistown was named the party’s executive director after Jake Eaton resigned “to pursue other interests,” the news release said. “””””

wesson-“racist morons are, useless (his words”
oh….I would that were so, but unfortunately. racism is alive an well in this UNITED states!
last night, I had an “interesting” chat with a friiend of mind living near new orleans..
this is a lady who I call a friend…and is, compared to my earnings, LOWER middle class, married to a minority (hispanic)
and as we started our chat and she asked how I’ve been over the past couple of months…I admitted I have become “OBSESSED” with the election…at which point she asked who I am supporting
her response was ” I’m voting the opposite side”
I was astounded! she is voting republican to spite her own best interests! I told her I would “shhh” on politics….to maintain the friendship…but I’m thinking, what is in this KOOL AID ????

I had to think about JM response about “Joe the plumber” and especially after reading Deb’s post…My ex is a firefighter/roofing contractor and when I told him of the bailout, (are you gonna go get yours?) he said no way small buisness like me getting bailed out! When I was married to him there was no way he was making $250K a year!!! I know b/c I did the books!
Yet he still has to pay people to work for him!
JM severely out-0f-touch! As Far AS “SMall Buisness”!!!!
And he’s a mean liar and Saracuda too!!!

re autism and Downs Syndrome

I used to do quite a bit of sub teaching in special Ed
While I had students with one or the other condition, I never encountered a child with both. In fact, the Down’s kids seemed to usually communicate pretty well and have a pretty normal range of emotions.

I am guessing JM is either confused or uneducated or both…or maybe as a poster above said, he is just lumping special needs.

That bit about M/P taking care of special needs children very much surprised me, as their records of helping to fund them so far are so very poor. In fact P has actually cut funds as gov and band zoning for special needs housing while mayor. At one time I had some stats on Mc voting against funding as well, can’t put my hands on them, but my daughter who worked with special needs for 12yrs will not vote for Mc for that very reason. He didn’t support her and her special needs kids, so she will not vote for him.

I think Obama has great strategy by baiting McCain to confront him with Ayers relationship in the debate. He knew most voters don’t like this kind of attack in today’s economy and he can have the opportunity to answer the accusation in front of millions of viewers. McCain couldn’t hold his temper and kept attacking once the subject was brought up.

I believe she said the child is 12 or 13 because she is claiming all this experience from having him in their lives that long. I’m assuming it is a nephew. Somewhere in the family. It always repulses me when she brings it up. The schools are full of autistic children and she just seems to saying it to brag on what a wonderful person she is – and what an expert she is.

reading the comments above — how do you live on $7200 a YEAR OMG!!!

For one thing, you don’t drink Starbucks coffee, LOL!

Honestly, much of the time I feel like a maggot in the bacon. I think I live well. AND I’m debt-free. But let anything come up like a needed car repair or whatever, and that’s when poverty leaves you in the dust.
The other thing about it is that there’s none, zilch, zero extra to allow for changes that would make things better… poor people are the ones who have to drive old gas guzzlers because they can’t afford to buy a newer, more sensible vehicle… they’re the ones burning up electricity with old $50 yardsale fridges… they’re the ones having to eat cheap, crappy, unhealthy food because they can’t afford the good stuff, unless they have room to grow their own…

I’m lucky because I dislike a lot of the things that are commonly considered “necessities” or “basics”. If you don’t like it, you don’t feel deprived when you don’t have it. But yeah, when it comes to “extras” beyond the food/shelter thing, that kind of income sucks. Also too, it’s really, really aggravating to be unable to pay for whatever help you need and to have to rely on charity. As I’ve found out, charity happens how and when charitable people feel like being charitable, not when needy people need a hand. And it comes with a price tag… your pride, your self-confidence, your soul.

Back to politics. Obama with his infusion of intelligence and looking ahead and decency gives ME a boost. I look down on the leeches, the takers, the ones who milk the system, the liars and cheats… those other ones. Obama makes me feel confirmed in my idea that I’ve been doing the right thing and it’s worth the hassle. Not that this has any bearing on the presidential race or voting or whatever, but it’s a tremendous boost for me personally.

GJ- mccain hasn’t a CLUE about all the funding issues around special education…nor does sp…I have worked in special education for 30 + years….
she has a four month old child with special needs (believe me, she is only BEGINNING the long road of what is required of a parent with a special needs child!) what I do know is…the feds have not fully funded IDEA (special education federal law) and so, as many states face, alaska has to manage mandates of the law with less funding…
she, as a governor, cut funding to special olympics (separate from special education) but is a POWERFUL program for kids with disabilities. I was happy that Obama addressed issues about autism ….(mccain jumped on that after obama brought it up, but wandered around and confused issues) parents of children with autism are presently a POWERFUL voice in special education legislation. bottom line is….the feds LEGISTLATE (i.e. MORE government) what we educators have to do, without FUNDING IT…so it is left to states to resolve $$$ issues…..obama spoke to this problem CLEARLY

Yanno, that’s probably the next thing right after blind racism that gets my goat. Methinks that the foundation for all of that has been laid solidly this year. The (presumed?) aversion to color is being proved to be of less importance than solid, intelligent leadership… sex/gender (sex is correct, but gender sounds less confusing) isn’t insurmountable anymore either – and in Palin’s case, she only highlights the fact that people aren’t against females in power positions as much as they’re against incompetence… the matter of religion is being dissected for what it really means and what the difference between honest faith and freak show religion is… we’re taking a major step forward on all of it. Kinda historic-like. Wonderful.

Okay, some guy out there is looking up whether or not Joe the Plumber is a republican plant. It’s interesting stuff. I also found a full-blown interview with Joe on a conservative website, familysecuritymatters.org dated 10/15/2008. So was Joe and everyone else waiting for McCain to mention him in the debate? McCain mentioned him something like 8 times, which would either make McCain insane, or make McCain showing his hand. No wonder McCain plays craps, he doesn’t have a poker face.

The “health of the mother” comment set me off,…I am old enough to remember losing 2 dear friends, 1 year apart, to back-alley abortionists because women had no choice. Unless you were going to give up your entire career and move away from everyone you knew. Arrghh!
Sorry men, but that made me so mad that I wished that any man who fathered a child and ran away, should be visited by the apprentice vasectomy fairy.

As far as Palin knowing about special needs,…she has no clue. The baby is only 4 months old,…and she has not been the one taking care of her kids (if anyone has). As a single mother of a special needs child, I can say she has a lifetime ahead of her to learn what special needs really means, and so far, I’m not convinced of her ability. I feel bad for that little guy being born to such a narcissist, and am hoping that Trig will end up in his sister’s care (since she DOES seem to care about him).
Maybe I’m just too ‘old school’, but, when you have children, you have to be ready to sacrifice for them, because they didn’t bring themselves here. Palin is too selfish to put their needs ahead of her own.
And that’s the part that she will never understand about special needs kids. She isn’t wired to think that way.

Hey, AKM, thanks again for the spot to rant. I’m so glad that you’ve made this spot because, when McCain announced Palin as VP , I honestly freaked,…and was so happy to find I was not alone.

“troops to teachers” is a program that MANY schools/states use now …under pressure to “reform” what we have always done….which allows former military members to work for schools as teachers….(kind of a grandfather clause…but not quite) based on prior “real experience”…gives them some credit for prior military service, gives them some added financial incentives to pursue degrees in education….a sweet deal for veterans…jury is still out on their effectiveness as teachers!

knik- I applaud you as a parent of a special needs child ( or ANY child) who understands that REAL education involves a REAL commitment of parents….i.e. ya can’t just blame the schools! from what I’ve seen, palin hasn’t a CLUE about what it takes to raise “typical” children, much less a child with special needs

WOW! I can’t believe those folks still exist in the US. They’ve got some serious blinders on as they think they are racing for the line. Every single one of them was parroting back the Rove talking points, blech!

Joe The (Planted) Plumber? Hmmmmmm, if you as a business owner make a NET of more than $250,000 then your tax goes from %36 to %39. And because of that he can’t afford to buy the business? Gosh! That must be some real lucrative business he’s buying! After paying employees, overhead, insurance, etc to still be able to slice a quarter of a million off for yourself each year is pretty darned good. BULLSHIT! A business like that would cost at the very least $5 million to buy. I used to work for a small business in Fairbanks. Mom and Son ran it. Had about ten employees, warehouse, trucks, etc. Son took home around $60,000 and Mom about the same.

Holy mackerel. I can just see my ex-husband teaching kids. He took a 6-month college “vacation” courtesy of the army not long after his transfer back from Germany. I (basically fresh off the boat) proof-read the papers he turned in and corrected his worst mistakes. I mean, the man’s spelling was equal to Palin’s syntax. Later, as a recruiter, he was very proud of more than toeing the line between recruiting ethics and “making the numbers”. When the recruiting bliss faded after he ran seriously afoul of his superiors, he contemplated a career change again, favoring the border patrol “because you get to beat up Mexicans and it’s all legal”. Thankfully that didn’t go anywhere, so he decided to get out of the military and move to the mountains with his fed-up wife (moi). There, he couldn’t make it in the civilian work world because his attitude of superiority (military outranks civilian) didn’t go over well with the people who hired him. He gave up, worked his way into the national guard, moved back to the city, entrenched himself in military life again, did a bit of time in Iraq (good for the career), and went back to recruiting.

I know it’s not kosher to criticize anything “soldier” these days, but going by my own experience, I can say most emphatically that simply “being a veteran” does NOT qualify anyone for teaching in any way whatsoever.

Deb, thanks for bringing my attraction to Obama full circle. Tonight’s debate along with the DNC has caused me to flashback to the fall of l960 when I was going to NIC (North ID College) yes, it’s the same school SP later attended. In 1960, I had several International Studies dates, with Johnston Kenyatta Jr., the son of Jomo Kenyatta. Johnstone was an exchange student going to school in Spokane but often came to the NIC International Studies activities in Couer d”Alene. At the time a black man was not allowed to spend the night in Couer d’Alene, so he always had to leave campus before dark so our “dates” were mostly at the Student Union building with a room full of wide eye students that had hardly ever seen a black man.

What strikes me now is how much Johnstone looked like the pictures they showed at the DNC of Obama’s father. The one regret I still have of that period in my life was that when Kenney was elected in 1960, Johnstone’s father asked him to go to the inauguration because he was under house arrest and couldn’t go out of Kenya. Johnstone asked me if I would go with him and even offered to pay my way. He had diplomatic immunity and didn’t have any fear of US laws, as he was a Oxford trained lawyer that had also studied at Princeton, Harvard and several other northwest schools.

At the time, I really wanted to go but my family were afraid to let me continue to see him, and put all kinds of pressure on me because of all the bad press Jomo Kenyatta had been getting over the Mau Mau mess. My uncle wgi was the shierff even threatened to put me in jail if I continued to see him.

As I say, it was one of the things I to this day reget. Yes, I had a very big crush on Johnstone and still have some of the poems and letters he wrote me. After all these years it is so amazing to see Obama, a lad just like someone that could have been my son, finally getting to be our next President.

Go Obama, 08

———–
Okay, I don’t know your circumstances other than that you’re broke because of medical bills (which is tragic and not right), so please keep that in mind when you read/respond to my question, okay?

If your husband is able to work but chooses to retire at 51, which is very young by “normal” standards, and his not working would leave you without enough resources to feed yourselves, why shouldn’t you be required to tap into your IRAs and 401ks, which, after all, are retirement accounts?

I realize it’s a completely different story if your husband were unable to work because of medical issues, but if his early retirement were his choice, then the loss of income and any accompanying hardships would be his responsibility, no? Food stamps do have to paid for, after all–by taxpayers.

I’m sure most people would love to be able to retire at 51, but most people I know wouldn’t be able to afford it. If only….

So, that’s my 2 cents, and, again, apologies if I’m off-base because I’m unaware of your extenuating circumstances. Thoughts, anyone?

McCain lucked out referring to autism instead of downs. SP’s sister has a 13 yr old son aith autism. They opened a gas station I think it was about a year ago. Whether McCain has met them, I don’t know. There have been enough flights going back and forth to AK that they may have travelled down.

The night of her speech at the Convertion, a CNN person was in Alaska with the sister & her husband and a bunch of other people, at a bar. She did short little interviews with them in between the speakers at the convention.

The person doing the interview was more excited about SP being such a nice person, down to earth, the type of person she would like to sit and have a beer with!! Wonder what she thinks now?? She didn’t ask a lot of questions really about SP, which was the purpose of her being there to dig and find out. More interested in that beer with the Gov. Within a few days, CNN replaced her in AK to get info and interviews.

Looks good on McCain!! Wonder when or if they have told him yet!! LOL

The article says it’s not Joe’s fault — but it is. He was setting Obama up with the questions knowing full well he would report it to McCain as I question whether McCain’s camp would have searched him out. He certainly has been on the talk show circuit — 15 minutes of fame. Between this and Politico posting that he’s not registered yet. Not looking good for Joe. Frankly, I’m tired of “Joe the Plumber”. I just hope, given the economy, especially in Ohio that he’s saving a lot of money. With the foreclosures and economy he’ not going to do a lot of big buck remodeling. Also, when are people going to learn some math! If he’s afraid of paying taxes on his $250,000. lets see the plumber’s taxe returns,

he should be able to consult with his accountant, hopefully he has one, making that much money…I make much less that 250,000 and my accountant recommendations, if he alone buys health insurance for himself that’s a huge tax writeoff, gas for his vehicles will be a huge writeoff this year, I agree with earlier comments that he must be making a hell of alot of money to have to buy taxes on 250,000

I have a client who’s a plumber, he has no children but is married, and i know they in no way make over 250,000

As far as I know, the Troops to Teachers program does not allow anyone to bypass state certification regulations…including the competancy tests that McCain seems to think should not be necessary. Please. I am a Special Education teacher…the tests are not a big deal if you have been trained to teach children.

The application process is not circumvented in the Troops to Teachers program either. Everyone must pass the interview process set up by the school districts. I do wonder sometimes if there is some sort of quota system encouraging hiring former Service Members, though? Anyone have information on this possibility?

Even my former military ultra R husband’s eyes popped when McCain suggested dropping certification requirements…what the?

Joe the freaking plummer SHOULD pay more taxes. If he can afford to buy a 250K company, then he should be ready to step up and share. If he’s afraid of that, then perhaps he should rethink LIVING BEYOND HIS MEANS like the rest of us.

Screw McNastyTeeth. I officially hate him too.

Lets Do It

I really really really tried to stay sober during the debate … really. But every time McCain batted his eyes, (or was that a tic?) I took a swig. An hour and a half of him on a high definition 42″ screen is what nightmares are made of. If this Twilight Zone scenario should play out and he gets elected, there is not enough wine in the world to get me through the next 4 years.

I’m only half way through, but I’ve got to say my favourite McCain quote so far is tied between his sob story

“That to me was so hurtful. And senator Obama you didn’t refutiate (repudiate?)them. Every time there has been an out of bounds remark made by a republican, I have refutiated (repudiated? refuted?) them. I hope that Senator Obama will refutiate those remarks that were made by congressman Jon Lewis. Very unfair. Totally inappropriate. And I want to tell you that we will run an honest campaign.””

and

when asked why they think they’re VP pick would be qualified to run the country, after Obama stating all the obvious points about Biden the first thing out of McCains mouth almost is because “she’s a great role model to women”. But how dare anyone outside his campaign turn her gender into an issue. right?

Johnny McGrumpy,

This is Marty, you remember me? I’m your dentist. Johnny, ya know, it’s been 14 years since you’ve seen me. Your teeth are so yellow, i’m going to need hydrochloric acid to get them clean. I think i could see your bad breath on TV. And god Johnny, that dental work? You’re like a friggin multi millionaire and can afford 8 houses. Ya think you could spare a few bucks to get your teeth done?

And while you’re at it, let me refer you to Joe the plastic surgeon so you can fix that face. God man, you can scare small children with that creepy crooked smile. It’s just scary. Maybe we can also get some eye drops so you don’t blink 200 times an hour. Twitches or strokin out?

I’m sure you should make an appointment quick before your rotten teeth fall out.

Umm.. isn’t there more to politics than Joe the Plumber actually having a PRESS CONFERENCE???

That’s just plain bizarre.

At least Joe isn’t a total nimrod. He seems fairly intelligent.

If McCain meant Trig has autism, not only does he know nothing, but he never talked to his wife, who was a special ed teacher before she met him.

The two conditions are entirely distinct from each other. I have met one person who does have both.

I didn’t read every comment here, but apparently “Joe” in Ohio is related to Keating.

I think Joe the Plumber is a McCain plant. There is something about his story that just doesn’t ring true.

It reminds me of a caller from West Virginia, calling in to one of the AAR programs (can’t remember which one, dang it–maybe Randi Rhodes?) sayng, “I’m a soccer mom and I’m voting for George Bush.” The show host asked the caller “What is a soccer mom?” The caller hemmed and hawed, and could not get a cogent sentence out. Finally the caller just said “Well you know what a soccer mom is!” and hung up.

Something about JTP just doesn’t ring true.

BTW, was anyone else offended by McCain’s pimping Nancy Reagan’s hospitalization for brownie points with the audience?

I bet Nancy Reagan and her kids didn’t appreciate it.

WHO IS THE REAL JOE THE PLUMBER

Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

The most annoying thing McCain does wasn’t on the poll least. The most annoying thing is his constantly addressing people as “my friend.” I am not his friend. I wouldn never choose him as a friend and I want him to stop saying that and just go away.

Check out CNN and Politico: Joe the Plumber does not have a plumber’s license (he says he doesn’t need one), his boss may not have one either- and he has a lien on his house for nonpayment of taxes. Yessiree, a fine, upstanding citizen who supports McPain…

Not to bad for a bunch of 60’s liberal radicals. For your mental health I hope you spass out too bad when Mccain wins. If you do, the helpline that Rush set up after the 2000 and 2004 elections is still in operation and the number is still the same. 1-800- get over it, if that one is busy then dial 1-800 get a life.

Why isn’t the MSM talking about Todd Palin’s membership in the AIP? Seems at least as relevant as William Ayers.
