Alaska Political Commentator Michael Carey on ‘Fresh Air’ – Live Stream

15 10 2008

Today, Michael Carey will be talking to National Public Radio’s Terry Gross on her program Fresh Air. His topic? All things Palin.

You can listen to the interview streaming live on local Anchorage NPR station KSKA – Click HERE.

The show begins at 3pm Alaska time. (4pm Pacific Time, 7pm Eastern Time)

UPDATE:  Excellent interview.  Podcast is available from the NPR site.   I thought Michael Carey was right on the money except for one thing.  He didn’t seem to think that Alaskans were too concerned about Palin’s religious inclinations.  This may be true for some, but my sense is that there are quite a few people who would have labeled her “fundamentalist Christian”, but since the revelation of the details of her church, and its vision, feel pretty disturbed.   Other than that, I’d agree with his take.

I heard the program in AZ already. It was an informative interview; I was surprised to hear that the anti-Dem attacks are new for Palin as she could not have accomplished what she has in the legislature without the Democrats there. They’ll throw anyone under the bus.

AKM, I meant to mention, if you have not been to palinaspresident.com, please check it out. It’s being updated daily with new things. Move your cursor around and also click on lots of items in the room. Also, after clicking on the inside door, close it, then click on it again, close it, then click it a third time. Even the rug in the room has something to say! Too many things to mention!

You might want to add it to the Fun Stuff! items.

Very interesting article on the Politico.com website.

Will McCain be channeling Hillary tonight? This is a must read. JM’s way of reaching accross the aisle perhaps?

Also a good message from ‘Off the Bus’ from the Huffpost: This is good advise folks.

“I think the Democrats need to be very cautious at this point. The exuberance on the part of Democrats is becoming a little alarming. The GOP is a cornered and wounded animal that is at it’s most vicious and dangerous; being complacent now is inviting disaster. Please, calm down folks; the election is still 3 weeks away and there’s still a lot to do and a lot that could happen.”

(Regarding a possibility Colin Powell may endorse Obama):

“I don’t personally think that Colin Powell is likely to endorse Obama; perhaps he may vote for him but I seriously doubt he’s going to make a public announcement about it. If I were a gambler my bet would be that Colin Powell doesn’t endorse ANYBODY publicly. Considering the degree to which he’s bee burned by politicians in the past, I don’t think he’s likely to put that much trust in either candidate.”

Watching Mitt Romney talking to Chris Matthews right now. Matthews asked him about the Palin pick and whether he would have been a better choice given the financial crisis.

Mitt played her up re: excellent Executive Experience and exciting the base, but you could see him tighten his face to put out the party line and almost see his attractive, grey temple hair getting whiter as he talked.

Should be amazing spin tonight.

Pretty fair overview. Brings a whole new perspective to the expression “Damned with faint praise.”

Sounds like a bunch of loonies up there. He actually intimates that it’s occurred to him that she might call her “backwoods preacher” if she were president and a crisis occurred. I think he referred to it as getting an answer from the Book of Revelations.

I am thrilled that Mr. Carey is getting more national exposure. That said, I hope he will remain in Alaska for a long time to come – I don’t know if I could make it through elections without tuning into Running!

I listened to the Carey interview today and just have one question. Mr. Carey seems satisfied that Palin is the mother of Trig and seemed to dismiss the rumors that Palin had faked her pregnancy. I would like to know specifically what Mr. Carey asked Palin or exactly what investigating he did regarding these rumors. Maybe he should share his information with the rest of us who have serious doubts. There are now 3 websites devoted to this and the rumors are very strong. The American people have a right to see the solid evidence. How good of an investigator is Mr. Carey?

Thought this was interesting, I knew something was fishy when MCCain brought up Joe the Plumber.
http://www.crooksandliars.com artical read:
Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

Now I guess we know why Joe is telling the press that Obama is a “socialist” and that the Obama tax plan “infuriated” him. After all, it would hit families like the Keatings and their minions the hardest.

Not to mention that Obama’s economic-recovery plan would put the crimps on influence peddlers like McCain’s old friends, the Keating Five.

But he sure made for a good one-day story.

Also I would like someone who can get close to Palin to ask her about those tax cuts for the Rich:
Hey Palin,
Guess what we had 8 years of tax cuts for the 1% Wealthy in America, guess what darlin’ It didn’t create more jobs, It did not trickle down.
Whenever someone mentions those tax cuts for the rich, just ask them “How has it been working for you the last 8 years?”
To me it has created more Greed. Look at Wall Street. Those tax cuts made millionaires into Billionaires, whats next trillionaires? Maybe thats some Greed assoles goals.
I just don’t get it?
I was talking to a friend who is a lawyer and working on several cases against health Insurance companies. He said the #1 Bankruptcy is due to medical Bills. He also mention Michael Moore’s Movie sicko, he suggested that I should see it to understand it. I saw it 2 times already. What I don’t understand the very same people Michael Moore has tried to help are the ones who are out to destroy him? My friend agreed and shook his head in shame.
John McCain’s health Care plan is enough to scare the life out of you. I am lucky to live in Vermont. We had all children covered when Howard Dean was governor. Now all residence in Vt are covered. Guess what folks its working out just fine.

End the End Times

Suze,

I feel that looking into Palin’s pregnancy is a dead end. They probably did want to be able to say he was born in Alaska. Palin has lost a lot of weight, which is easy to do when you are feeding an infant. But since she has been so busy, she has had to do some of this electronically, I gather (from an interview she did).

A more productive look at her history may be seen at the online columns at salon.com. They talk about her usage of fringe party members of the AIP, the type of people who think it is hunky dory for Alaska to secede from the United States! This is a disease afflicting several states in the U.S. At minimum, Palin should have to meet with all types of the media and explain her views about this.
