And so the threats begin to go beyond nasty rhetoric and shouted obscenities.
Today, the Obama campaign office in South Philadelphia was the target of a mailed threat that also contained a white powder. It was found by a volunteer opening the mail and resulted in a full scale hazmat and police response. The office was evacuated and containment and testing instituted to find out what the substance was.
Fortunately, the powder turned out to be sugar and all staff and volunteers are fine. Since the letter was actually sent through the mail, the matter is now a federal investigation, as it rightly should be.

As the author goes on to say, sure this time it’s harmless white powder, but what next? As of yet, what the written threat was, I haven’t heard.
I totally blame McCain and Palin for whipping the crazies into a frenzy. They are losing the election and their supporters are losing their minds.

Just finished watching Keith and Rachel online. It’s so gratifying to watch Keith ream anybody a new one, but it was particularly great to see him call McCain out. Not to mention that little Mr. D*ckwad Frum got an honorable mention in Worst Person in the World.

Apparently a new version of World Of Warcraft has been released today which is playing havoc with servers across the interwebs. It isn’t just the forum having problems – the googles and tubes are struggling to cope.
Yep, another reason to dislike WOW, as if I needed one. 😉 Sorry guys, fingers crossed it’ll be fixed by tomorrow.
There’s hundreds of people working behind the scenes to fix stuff like this when it happens.. guess they won’t be getting a lot of sleep tonight.
That explains it… Let’s hope this doesn’t require $700 billion to be pumped into the … um… websites of the big banks!

I’m very interested in his position and relevance to his wife’s vp campaign. it LOOKS like they separate them from time to time, sending him off. I’m wondering if he sits in on important meetings that she must attend. My guess is that this campaign will take its toll on Todd. Really a fish out of water in this (hopefully) temporary world. We can watch for the stresses to begin to show. Sarah was a tv a minute ago schlepping that baby thru a grocery check-out line. The truth is that her *special baby* is well-suited (with the placid nature) to being a prop for her. Shame on Sarah; I would like to hear some child advocates address her *mothering* thru this, particularly in contrast to every single other candidate seeming to watch out for the well-being of the children, even grown children She’s really somethun!

Actually, from what I’ve read, Todd has been very used to partaking (if not directing) the state’s business in Alaska behind the scenes, so he might be very much at home with the politicking…. although his secessionist self may be chafing at overmuch exposure to the “outside.”
Agreed with you about the kids– I worry that they’re getting dragged along the campaign trail (or off god knows where) without much concern for their wellbeing. As I ranted on my blog the other day, I was particularly disgusted to see two of Palin’s daughters in the background during one of her speeches, as she said the most repugnant things about Obama. What on earth kind of example is that to set for them? Hey kids, when you grow up, you can incite mobs just like me! Ugh.

Once you put your email address out there, you receive tons of messages. I suggest you get a yahoo address for whenever you have to provide an address and you’re not positive how it will be used.
There’s a spot on my way home where there are lots of political signs including McCain/Palin. I volunteered at Obama headquarters last night and asked for a sign to put there as well. I was pleased to see on my way home that there already was a sign. However, this morning it’s gone!
Now as much as I’ve wanted to rip down the McCain sign I didn’t. I think it’s interesting that Obama’s sign was taken down immediately. The Republicans shout about how much they are Christians, but yet they do that. They shout “kill him” at Palin rallies. I guess it’s a sign of how they feel about rights and freedoms. You have rights and freedoms as long as you agree with them.
I saw a nun in Rome who is 106 and is voting for Obama! She hasn’t voted since 1952 when she voted for Eisenhower.
It’s just trashy and childish to steal signs, at least when they’re posted on private property (as they are supposed to be.) I picked up an Obama sign on Monday and one of the things they told me was to put it closer to the house than to the road, because people drive around and grab them.
But I want it to be seen! It’s been OK in the yard, so far. Later, I may post it on the front door instead.
Of course, it shouldn’t surprise anybody that the same people who believe outright LIES and attempt to suppress the truth and any form of openness are stealing signs–the very existence and presence of those signs screams that there are actually OTHER OPINIONS out there! So, it’s really kind of logical for them to steal them.

More than just stealing signs…the GOP is trying to steal yet another election, so we cannot be lulled into a false sense of victory here folks. Let’s work as if we were 14 pts. down in the polls!
I heard a blurb on CNN this morning that some “unknown” organization has been inserting dvd’s into newspapers around the country which contains “terrorist propaganda.” I suppose since they could not “manufacture” another war on such short notice…they will result in the “domestic terrorism” of fear and hatred. And I would not be at all surprised if Cindy herself bankrolled the project!
