I have a confession to make.
I was driving to work on Friday, approaching a familiar overpass on the Seward Highway, when I noticed a hand-painted sign that someone had put up so it would hang over traffic. I’ve seen signs on this overpasses before. Sometimes it’s a birthday greeting, sometimes a welcome home message. I even once saw a “No Blood for Oil” sign before the invasion of Iraq. This one looked like it had been painted on a white sheet. It was mostly red and blue….it….was….an…… Obama sign! I smiled as the car got close enough to read it. “Obama 4 Change” it said. But then as I got closer still, I realized that there was more. It continued, “2 Islamic Law -N- U.S.A.” Obama for change to Islamic Law in U.S.A.?? Argh!
I was outraged, not only at the sheer stupidity and misinformation in the content of the sign, but “-N-“?? There was plenty of space to write “IN”. And isn’t “-N-” supposed to mean ‘and’?
I’m glad I was in the passenger’s seat or I would have hit the guard rail. So spouse says to me, “Do you want to take a picture of it?” (must have been remembering our photo safari in Wasilla a couple weeks ago) I said no. It was too depressing. Then I noticed the car veering off at the next exit. “Where are we going?”, I ask. “We’re going back.” And so we did.
The plan? Not to take the sign down as I first thought, but to quickly and surgically remove the bottom half! Brilliant. Not only would the sign be correct in content, but the -N- and the rest of the nonsense would be relegated to the dust bin.
The procedure took about five minutes, as we discovered there were actually two identical signs, one facing north and one facing south. I present to you, dear Mudflatters, my trophies. No antlers or moose heads from this Alaskan hunt, but something even better.
The signs are down now, but they survived all the way through the morning and evening commute on Friday. I wonder if the original sign hangers got to enjoy the edited version…

Speaking of signs, I wrote yesterday that I finally secured another Obama yard sign after the previous sign had been stolen during the primaries. I put it out it last evening and it was stolen in the night. Again. But this time, thanks to Doug, I didn’t quit.
This morning, my sixteen-year-old-doesn’t-get-girls-pregnant son and I, went through the garage and found plenty of stuff that could be used for signs. We made a new one and plan to make a new one everyday if needed. I’m thinking that if this one is stolen I might post the next one on the roof. My son is rigging up a camera so we can catch the thief in the act. Ah, the trials and tribulations of being the only Democrat on the block.
Many thanks to Doug, for helping us realize that homemade signs can be just as good as factory-made ones. (And I contribute to Obama every month so I’m still doing my part there.)

The only way this would have been better is if the person was holding the sign up, as you did, bravely, at the docks.
Perhaps next time you could consider leaving the paranoia to be displayed in full glory, with the opposite viewed displayed right next to it. That way more people can see that you were rightously reacting to a stupid opinion in full view. Thoughts? Maybe with one of those “I’m with Stupid” messages, with an arrow next to it pointing at the dumb sign.

For those of you that think a vote for McCain won’t matter because Palin will only be Vice-President; consider this. The Social Security actuarial tables say that a 72 year old man has a one in three chance of dying in the next 8 years. That same 72 year old man has a 15% chance of dying in the next 4 years. Can you say HELLO PRESIDENT PALIN? That’s a bit scary isn’t it?
On my weekend bike rides, I’ve been counting Obama and McCain lawn signs in the White Bear Lake/Mahtomedi area of Minnesota. So far, 15 signs for Obama and 12 signs for McCain.

I drove around my town this morning and while not a lot of signs – they were all Obama. My Chicago suburban county that used to be almost completely red has been changing the past 10 years. I dream that soon it will be as comforting to reside in for a Dem – as Mudflats is NOW.

RE: AK Bush — Palin has done several things to anger Alaskan Natives, the ones that immediately spring to mind are A) her stance on Proposition 4 (clean water) was pretty much diametrically opposed to the best interests of commercial fishermen/women — not to mention she had adverts, an ethical violation, and B) the board overseeing hunting was stripped by her, she replaced board with her cronies, for the first time since its creation there were NO AK Natives on it, then there was a big brouhaha so one stepped down and a Native was appointed. There are likely many more issues w/AK Natives in the Bush. The fact that the village of Adak has had to be closed down/evacuated/etc. while she parades around the US with mclame is a big deal.
In terms of the make-up of AK Bush residents, they are probably pretty evenly split in terms of conservatives/liberals — the Bush attracts both those who want to tote guns & those who want to preserve the environment. Fortunately for us (dems), those who live in the Bush who want to tote guns could be considered to be quite anti-gov, and will deeply resent the fact that she has allowed mclame to hijack Alaska. Whether or not that will outweigh their strongly conservative tendencies? Who knows?
I couldn’t find the article in the LA Times, so can’t really address the specifics of that article.
By the way, that is my opinion based on my 35 years in Alaska.

Don’t vote on that poll, it is worthless, the conservatives have a crazy email going around asking everyone to vote on it, there is no way to determine if someone has voted more than once!
Therefore, Obama supporters are much better served to write them a letter saying that the poll is worthless than to vote on it. I am sure that I am being elitist here, but am pretty sure that the dems provide the majority of the donations for that. The “liberal” programming on PBS has long been a thorn in the side of conservatives. As a matter of fact, I remember when our local public radio/tv station almost went out of business due to funding cuts by the repub-led senate………

I’ve been reading a lot about the financial crisis today, as well as Pakistan. It’s becoming a perfect storm and you wonder why Obama/Biden want this job. I also think this rescue package is being railroaded through on the backs of the taxpayers during the waning months of the Bush administration. There has to be a better, and more measured way, of solving the problem. I know we haven’t seen the bottom yet, but is this jut going to be like the S&L scandal (John McCain’s early career) or Enron, where management fat cats took the money and ran and the taxpayers bailed them out? Thoughts? I am calling all of my representatives tomorrow to let them know my concerns. As many have observed, like Iraq, these are ‘Shock Doctrine’ tactics that will have long-term effects for all of us. Let’s proceed with caution and not spend $1T and more of our children’s money with 3 days to think about it.
On Friday, while working at the democratic office a gentelman ( approx. 60 years) came in and said, “I have been a republican all my life and I am here to volunteer for Obama, “What can I do to help?”
One of the staffers said, “what about your family values?” He said, “Family values my ass”. Then he took out his checkbook and made a donation. I’m sure he is not alone.

I would really like to see some demographic numbers about this, but from my antidotal experience, the bush has people in it that have lived in Alaska longer, and usually several generations. Natives especially, but 60% of the bush is non-Native. Anchorage is a relative new community, and grew to it’s present “center of the universe in Alaska” status only since oil (early 70’s). Those in Alaska with longer perspectives and have more at stake for the future of Alaska are going to vote differently than those who are here for a 4-5 year stint. At least that’s my take on it from a several gen Alaskan in a bush community. BTW, I wish I could say my community was blue, but that has not been the case in the last 8 years. Oil has seeped into every nook and cranny of our beautiful state. Also, we have a large contingency of libertarians who, when pushed, usually go red.

I’ve read in the news today, that the state of Alaska is being pretty much sequestered by the McCain/Palin regime, ie; nobody can get to Palins files as mayor, governer, talk to her family or friends, even state and government employes are not to talk to the press or express their opinion. I know she can see Russia from Alaska but does she have to take on the ideology of old communist Russia?
When I wrote (at 10:24:11) that my sixteen-year-old son said he was going to rig up a camera to catch our Obama sign thief, I had no idea what he meant. This is the America of hope and promise and action that Barack Obama talks about. I commented on the same interesting phenomenon here in SC yesterday. Even though our state is a “given” for the Repubs, we usually see plenty of signs and now almost none. Seriously, I have seen a few McCain bumper stickers but not a single Palin sign. I think some of the more intelligent of the Republican crowd (and there are some) are embarrassed by her nomination.
Poverty kids teacher-In Maryland it is a criminal offense to remove political signs. If one is installed illegally you must contact the police or election board and have them remove it.

I just got my Obama sign yesterday, and I’m the first in the neighborhood with the sign. The Denver office just received it’s first limited supply yesterday. Right now, it’s only one per household, with a minimum $5 donation.
I’m not sure why the signs are taking so long to get to the offices. Apparently they are getting calls everyday from people requesting signs, and there is none to give out.

Where I live, in northwestern NJ, we can’t get any signs either. Our county office has nothing. No signs, no buttons, no car magnet, nothing. I find that very frustrating.

Interestingly, I’ve been telling people that any new president has to be familiar with digital communication now; McCain can’t text message. McCain and Palin obviously don’t know that the new phrase isn’t “anything you say can be used against you,” but “anything you say can be on YouTube in less than 60 seconds.”
Took the Omaha office about a week to get signs in, and they were going out the door steadily. Going to try to free up some time next week to go in and make some calls.
AKM, let the spousal unit know that you need to be treated to a special night out! I know alot of people who would speak out about a sign like that but not many who would go back and do what you did. My hat is off to you.

Poverty-teach – I was just talking about YouTube with my husband this morning and the fact that everything – going years back – is on there. I was especially appalled at watching the videos last night of how McCain has behaved in public with his temper and foul language. I can’t claim not to use swear words – but for McCain to use them with the press and in congressional hearings! They are on YouTube for the posterity. When I heard the rumor a while back that he called his wife the c— word in front of reporters, I really didn’t believe it. But after watching his behavior on YouTube, I can easily see him doing it.
I am even more worried that McCain shuns learning basic computer technology and use. I am sure he is in the minority of 72 year olds. Don’t you agree – Bobg?!!

Staying up in the UK till 4am to watch results, debates etc. and know much more about US politics than a year or so ago. But stuff like that is priceless, you need to have lived in US I guess, am really jealous of you all right now for having O.
@megacephalus….this Sharia law debate has been going on the UK for some time now…as it has to some degree in Canada. I dont know that it will ever come to fruition ….at least in Canada.
The fact that I live in a truly multicultural society makes me happy. I have no fears or biases re: other races or religions. I do though, have an issue with people who immigrate to my country expecting that our laws change to suit thier desires.
If Muslim folk wanted to live under Sharia Law…then why not stay where it IS the law. Women in western societies have fought too long and too hard to make headway in this world. We dont need a legal system…even if it is only for a few….that goes against the basics of our democratic society.
What next? I am sure there are other “laws” from other religions etc. Does that mean we will have different laws depending on what type of family you happened to born into?

RE: that PBS poll. As of 4:10p EST 9/21 there were more than 38 million votes. Yes, you read that right. You can only find the total by using the mouse to highlight the poll (or use “Select All” from menu), as it is the same font color as the background. It is a meaningless poll, really.

Just got back from the Obama Rally in Charlotte, NC. There were so MANY people there – estimates at over 20,000!! People evidently arrived prior to sunrise and by the time we got there, the wait was a couple of hours just to get through the gate (thank goodness hubby remembered to bring water).
It was great – there were people of every demographic represented, and people seemed genuinely excited. Everyone was positive and polite. I was so proud to be a part of this group of people. They were fantastic!
This is the first time in 30 YEARS (30 YEARS, folks) that NC is considered a battle state. There is a lot of concern about the “Bubba” vote which may not be considered yet, so people were volunteering left and right to try and take NC back. While we were standing in line, we talked with as many people as possible about Mudflats and the various things we’ve learned there. . . SO THANKS to all of you who researched the WIC cut from Palin, the proof of the Bridge to Nowhere, her extreme religious views, and the stance of Palin and McCain on the economy, civil liberties and the wars.
Senator Obama was fantastic! He laid out specific plans and focused on the economy. He commented on the tax increases for the wealthy and laid out specifics on his platform (which is on the web site now) – so if McCain guys try to repaint this, you can now speak from FACT. He is truly the best choice, and we must help him help us!
I am very proud of the turn-out today, and think we have a real opportunity to grab NC! Please volunteer, donate and vote. We are fighting for moral fiber of our Country. We are fighting for religious freedom – e.g. the ability to worship freely and as we see fit, not just as one faith. We are fighting for civil liberties for the poor and oppressed, and we cannot let them down!

so we took a few days off from new york and went to ocean city, maryland. tucked into the red-red portion of an otherwise blue state. what I saw, or rather didn’t see, was shocking. there was 1 mccain sign, an old one, and 1 brave obama sign for the 60 or so miles along rt. 113 in md. and delaware. usually it is ablaze with republican signs.
I walked around the hotel, pool & beach with my obama/biden tote-bag. (from buzzflash dot com) I got a lot of looks, at first I guess conditioning caused me to think they were dirty looks, but I’m not so sure they all were. I think many were inquisitive, curious looks. my husband said that seeing it on a white gal is good, its making them think. huh? ok, whatever. a few smiled here and there. but no conversations.
then our friend came by from a place on the chesapeake bay at the southern end of the md. eastern shore, so tiny that wasilla looks like a metropolis in comparison. he said something like, “i don’t care if he is a muslim, we need a change from these theives” wow. ok, i took a breath, calmly twisted my face up and said “a what?
gee, i thought because of all that reverend stuff, that he was christian…”
i just happened to have a laptop, and looked at snopes. and realized he thought the pledge of allegiance malarkey is true too. but, his assessment was that side-by-side, obama is just much smarter.
my friend said, well, hell, if I can tell ’em he’s not those things, lets go do some campaignin’!
his phone rang. ok, let’s start now. whoever that is, ask them if they’re registered and planning to vote. he started right in on his friend with questions about if his money goes as far, how much it costs for commercial fishermen to fill the tank with diesel, remember when we used to make a living?
it was a surreal encounter. it shows that the rumors are like “common wisdom” (feh, pew, ick) but that it may not be working anyway. my friend has the aw shucks country act, but he’s no idiot. he sees faux news, because its all that’s ever on anywhere down there. British law is absolute and must remain so.”

Yes, he was in Charlotte today. He started speaking around 2 PM, and it was exhilerating. We are talking this up with all of our neighbors just to get them engaged in the process. This is the first time in a long time that we could turn this state blue. We really want to make that happen, and ensure our 15 electoral votes go to Senator Obama!!! I am so proud of him. By now most of you have wonder who is AKM? Some have recalled posts that refereed to my wife, that were later edited.
Some have surmised that AKM is an elderly Gentleman, probably a retired lit. teacher, who spends his idle time in deep thought.
Others have seen reference to AKM as a woman and are delighted to revel in ‘her’ woman power – “You go girl.”
I’ve seen posts from other sources that refer matter of factly to his gender.
The latest theory is that AKM is a composite.
Who else could attend two rallies take photos write a great blog and – still have a life? A busy multi-tasker?
And as I’ve said before, AKM is/are certainly capable of throwing a curve ball, of dropping breadcrumbs down the wrong path.
My advise is that if someone seems to know who AKM is/are, they don’t know the -first- thing about him/her/them.
And if someone actually DID know, and said so here, they wouldn’t actually be a friend to him/her/them.
I recall someone likened AKM to the authors of the federalist papers.
I like that. It was really one person, well probably more, uhh who cares?

I just tuned into the web-cam. Couldn’t help be think, here is a all american residential street, with good working class people, and who would know what insurgency lurks here? The good people here put up a home-made patriotic sign for their candidate of choice (Free Speech lives!). To protect the neighbors privacy, a piece of tape is strategically placed. The rain threatened, and the young man covered the sign with protective plastic (Safe Signage practices). The trespasser would tromps on this good family’s Rights doesn’t have a clue the ARMY he/she takes on along with that sign! ONWARD!

@Hamlets Mill Yes, some people actually believe he is Muslim “sleeper.” My neighbor, who is a very sweet lady, says she is afraid he will “turn out to be a Muslim.” Other people, I suspect, find this a socially acceptable answer when the real reason is they won’t vote for a black man. My son, an Obama supporter, told me about a survery (I think he said it was taken by some group at Stanford) where only dems. were polled, and 30% said they would not vote for a black man. This worries and upsets me greatly. I know that the world is not a utopia, but I just cannot understand how people could dislike Barack Obama because he is black. He is so intelligent, kind, interesting, and thoughtful; he truly cares about the American people. He is a Christian man who walks the walk, not just talks the talk.

The first time I heard Palin speak my gut reaction was HELL TO THE NO!!! This angry, sub-par VP candidate is a HUGE joke! Reject Limbaugh has the NERVE to say “Oh why can’t women just get on board and support her – isn’t that what they wanted – a female in office?” Uh, nooooooo. I don’t want a dumb-@ss power hungry family-failing NRA fanatic taking away my personal rights. That’s like ordering steak and getting a bowl of maggot-infested oatmeal instead. Hardly appealing.
I’ll admit that prior to her announcement I was lackluster in my support of Obama as I was for Clinton. However, he’s the party choice and I’m on board that train 100%. To those of you who are having trouble getting signs or bumper stickers– you really can make your own pretty easily, a la Poverty/Teach. I know you all have computers. I have made two smallish ones for my car just on regular paper. The one has a picture of the Munch painting ‘The Scream’ (Google image search) next to the words Palin McCain (Palin first on purpose). The other has some clip art lips and the slogan: Hey Sarah! My daughter wants to choose, too! Print ’em out and tape ’em to the inside of the back car window.
This Daily Kos page has instructions for making a donation do double-duty. Instead of just donating, order signs, buttons, etc. from the Obama store and have them delivered to your local headquarters (or use them yourself). Doing it this way is great if you’ve been wanting signs, etc., and headquarters has been out:

The way I have it figured, if the election was held today and all the toss-up states would come through as they currently lean, Barack would win by 8 electoral votes. That is far too thin for my liking. Losing a state like Minnesota could tip the scales. In my opinion though, there are at least 8 “magic moments” left in the campaign for Obama/Biden.
9/26-The 1st debate..Foreign policy..there will be sparring. Although this reportedly McCain’s forte, if you remove the word “surge”, he has nothing. Obama is far more intelligent, articulate and most of presidential (the key).
9/27-The start of the Hilary Sent Me crusade. Do not underestimate this fine woman. She has previously campaigned for Barack in New Mexico, Colorado,Ohio and Florida and every on has made a comeback. She is calling out her supporters to give money and field support. Hilary begins in Michigan…her supporters stage a rally in NH
10/2-The Vice-Presidential debate…already discussed at length. Could have major implications.
10/5-My anticipated date (guess only) of when the Palin tax returns may appear. It will be after the debate and at this date, the longest any candidate has held out since Watergate.
10/7-The 2nd Presidential debate-Town Hall meeting. If Barack can handle questions from Bill O’Reilly and come out well on top, the only that should be stumped from audince questions is McCain.
10/10-The date the Troopergate investigation is preliminarily scheduled to conclude and the results announced. If it comes to fruition, it cannot be good for the Palin-McCain ticket.
10/15-The final debate…domestic issues. I can’t wait for this one. All the lies get to be rebutted. Pass the popcorn
11/4-I still feel that there are a groundswell of newly registered voters…inner city..college campuses who have never been polled. The grass root organization is far better organized then that of McCain and growing in leaps and bounds. They know who the likely Obama voters are and will get them to the polls if they have to drive them there themselves.

UK – I’m 55 – still don’t have a clue. I keep having to ask my husband – was that good for the Bears? Do they get the ball now? I DO know baseball and basketball though – and soccer – but still can’t easily tell when they are off sides. When your kid plays these games – you finally learn. No football players in my family. My son, an Obama supporter, told me about a survery (I think he said it was taken by some group at Stanford) where only dems. were polled, and 30% said they would not vote for a black man. Yep. In a normal intellectually aware electorate this election would be over. But not in this currently amazingly dumbed down nation or morons. I don’t think the racist vote is 30%. I HOPE we have come further than that. I think we have. 5-10% of the electorate of this country will NEVER vote for a black man even if Jesus Christ came back as black. But, hopefully, an increase of the black vote, students, and newly registered voters will off set that. We have to try to the last voter.
If we get President Palin because of racism, then that is the fate of our nation and we have deserved it. It will set every man, woman, and child in this country back 100 years. As the Greeks believed, character is fate. I still think we are better than that. At least we are now all here on the Mudflats. We will all go down together if it comes to that. We shall see.

Hi All,
My husband and I took the 3 hour drive from Augusta, Georgia to Charlotte, NC to attend the Obama Rally today. By the time I arrived in downtown Charlotte at 11:00 a.m. the line was wrapped around a couple of city blocks. There was an estimated 18,000 to 20,000 Obama supporters in attendance.
I truly don’t think the Obama campaign expected this kind of turnout because the outdoor location of the rally could not hold this size crowd.
Unfortunately, I as well as many others did not make it in close enough to the rally to see Obama speak, but I could atleast hear him.
I was only slightly dissapointed that I did not get to see Obama speak, because I spent a couple of hours waiting in line chatting it up with all of the other enthusiastic Obama supporters waiting in line with us.
I truly enjoyed the experience and was so overjoyed by the size of the crowd and the diversity of the crowd. It was an overwhelming feeling sharing this day with people whom I’ve never met before, that were brought together for a cause greater than ourselves, to stand together in support of a man who will take a stand and fight for us on the day that WE THE (smart) PEOPLE elect him into the highest office in our country.
I now have the courage to go get an Obama/Biden sign and proudly display it in my front yard! I am a tiny blue spot in a sea of red, in Augusta, Georgia. ;D

Dr Chill– thank you for pointing out that we need to respect the desire of AKM to remain anonymous and genderless. It is kind of natural to wonder about it, though, not to mention awkward to refer to s/he/they. As a woman, it is exciting for me to imagine that a woman’s voice could have created such a powerful groundswell of activism. Gender politics, in addition to racial politics, plays a big role in this election, in ways that we won’t even understand for a long time to come. That said, AKM, I will do my best to honor your wishes.

I watched all of it. This is a very telling preview of the debates. The short, quick, condensed answer-a-thon. I thought they BOTH did well in expressing their political messages. But I think McCain revealed the chink in his amour in a very GLARING way when he said CATEGORICALLY that SARAH PALIN is able to TAKE OVER as President of the United States on DAY ONE!
Absolutely NO THINKING PERSON ON EARTH would accept that assessment. Zero. Nada. Zippo. That is fifth from the bottom of the class stuff. That is “get endless second chances because you are a legacy admission student” in life.
Save that sound bite for a “before and “after” combo ad AFTER Sister Sarah completely embarrasses herself before 40 million people in the VP debate. Great Move!!!! I love it. Maybe someone can help me with a problem that I have with my Obama yard signs. They keep disappearing during the night. I can’t tell you how much this infuriates me. Someone is trespassing, stealing and violating my freedom of speech. The suggestion that everyone has given me is to take my sign down at night, but I shouldn’t have to and I refuse. So, I am open for suggestions. Is there anything that I can coat the sign with that would stay sticky and messing without destroying the plastic sign itself? At first I thought that it was kids, but no after 4 signs stolen over a week, I am beginning to think that it is one of the many McCain supporters around me. A friend of my boyfriend, was telling me of an experience he had riding with a relative in his rig in East Texas. His cousin went on his CB radio and said “Obama”. The responses over the CB was very disturbing. He said one guy said, “a n*gg** would never be his President”, and he has an automatic pump rifle. While another guy came on the CB and said “I got your back.” Another came on and said, he has a box of granades waiting.
There are some real SICK ASS people in this world. Because of a person’s ethnic background…they make threats like this! I pray God does not have mercy on their souls!!! People with this type of hate, does not need to exist in this world!

I haven’t had a whole lot of respect for McCain since he laid down for Bush’s swiftboating dogs back in 2000, lost most of the rest when he went to Iraq and declared it safe – without telling the people at home that he had on a double-thick flack jacket and was surrounded by a battalion of soldiers – but he just totally lost half the nation when he claimed on 60 Minutes that Palin could take over from day one. If he truly believes that, why doesn’t he just step aside and allow her to be the headliner? I mean… she’s already getting more attention than he is so he ought to step aside and allow her to pick her own VP. Perhaps Ann Coulter is available? She’s been pretty darn quiet lately so she must not have anything to do.
Love the idea of having a “McCain with Obama” sign on my front lawn. With all the bells and whistles, VP.

My previous post may have made it seem that I support wholesale implementation of Sharia law or that I am anti-Christian. Not so.
The westerners that came to American shores replaced Native American Indian laws and practices with their own. Laws and systems evolve to serve the ever-changing ethnicity mix in a given place and the ever-changing social mores. 2. Put up a notice that says SMILE YOU”RE ON CANDID CAMERA!
3. Thoroughly wet the ground to the consistency of mud in a five foot diameter all around the sign.
4. Place the sign in a giant bear trap.
5. Chain a Pitbull to the sign (OK just kidding no sense making the animal suffer like that!)
And while we’re at it, since Christmas is coming create the Obama logo with red/white/blue lights to display in your window.

Cessna – thanks so much for the link to the LTE in the Pittsburgh paper from an Alaskan. Perfect place to have it. Now — it should be sent to the Ohio, Florida, Missouri, Minnesota, etc. etc. papers. Really! Chicago papers will publish LTEs from out of staters. Hearing it directly from an Alaskan is the best antidote.
I really have suspected what was said in the beginning of the letter. I know there are many transplants in Alaska, or those who have family in the lower 48 with a much broader country and world view. But for those who really know no other existence, how could theirs compare to our major cities or even our rural areas and the completely different issues that are faced here. Racism by “remoteness” has to be common. And that secession bent also appears close to the surface.
Again — just plain “scare ya shi*tless” at the thought of Palin as president – or even vice president.
Best part of the yard sign deal is the conversation–I’ve been laughing my ass off! And what’s great is that I can leave and come back and it’s STILL funny!

I did request that letter – or “note for the teacher” about not getting my work done. I’ve gotten myself too deep into this blog, this election, this cause, our future. But it is worth it and the best and most wonderful lesson and experience in just how wonderful people can be. Or at least – how fabulous OBAMA supporters can be! Are there really this many warm-hearted, caring, and hard-working McPalin supporters out there? Can’t imagine it!

The Apprentice
The Palin/McCain campaign reads like a bad reality show script that has taken the worst of the worst and waved it in front of the American public like the cheap entertainment that it is. This is not T.V. and the republican version of “Beauty & the Geek” is more like a really bad episode of “Blind Date”. Only it isn’t cheap or entertaining. It’s an ominous glimpse into what a future with just one station looks like. They will be everything from producers and directors, publicists and accountants, best boys, extras and walk-ins to the back door bootleggers selling pirated photos and tapes to generate publicity.
In other words, in charge of a whole shebang that whether it was a republican with a democrat congress or a democrat with a republican congress that got us here will not matter one whit in the minds of most Americans at the gas pump, grocery store or unemployment line. These vaporous “Chains of Love” must be broken. It’s time for the two parties to come up with a script that combines a version of “Swapping Wives” (not Biden for Hillary or McCain for Palin) meet in “Hell’s Kitchen”, exchanging instead of dividing and learning to work with each other’s teams to win the top prize. You don’t even have to pretend to like each other; you just have to get it done.
“Date My Mom” and “Marry My Dad” just doesn’t cut it any more.
We need to write the script ourselves if we want to find digestible television in our presidential elections. We have the best/worst possible inspiration behind us that tells us what kind of script NOT to write and pass off as reality to a public suffering a humiliating loss to several rounds of “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader”. We have hit the internet and we are ready for that challenging category of ‘for, of and by the people’, American History for $4 Trillion.
America has become a nation of “Room Raiders”, peering into closets and under beds looking for clues that go beyond the obvious producer picks of marketable good looks and special interest selling points. And we are the ones who get to say “Next”. We’re going for the “Dirt” and there is more reality in that than in this twisted version of “Meet My Folks”.
We must get rid of the Screen Actors Guild club membership and the reality show mentality that would put a twisted parody of “Survivor” and “America’s Next Top Model” into the White House with a “Married By America” stamp of approval.
If you think you can dance now, hang on to your nuts, because the “Fear Factor” has just begun and you’re in for a hell of a blow job.
And the hurricane hasn’t even hit yet.

I received an email and was not sure who it was from, so I just plugged in Biggest Rally in AK History in my yahoo search. This article plus the pictures of the overwhelmingly anti-Palin rally in AK blew me away! From, the media coverage, writen and TV showed us how much Palin was loved. How she threw out the corrupt polititians, even in her own party, a true maverick.
Being in New York City, this was the kind of press she received. Personally, I am a Democrat, but can respect others, not having to agree with them. In this case, #1 Palen seems as corrupt as the ones she replaced. #2 Knowing that McCain voted with Bush 92% last year, and 100% this time, picked Palin after one meeting (basically to woo the Repubican base with Palin) it couldn’t possibly be as good as portrayed. #3 Not knowing that Alaskans were for Obama, and many didn’t even like Palin, makes me want to visit AK, it seem like a pretty cool place, with a bunch of smart people!
I do have a question for the Palin/McCain ticket (as Sarah likes to say), I wonder if Senator Obama had a child out of wedlock, or even worse, had a child who had a child out of wedlock what would they say? hmm

The sign thief webcam was mentioned on the HuffPo! More signs popping up here-as much as I want to take down my neighbours McCain signs, it’s just a McCain sign and not offensive like the one AKM took care off.
i am not an American. I hail from India but i have been following the current Amercian political scenario and i truly support Obama. If i was there i would rallied for him and would’ve work hard to see him there…
