Palin is on Her Way Home.

10 09 2008

Palin is officially on her way back to Alaska. It’s been less than two weeks since she scurried out of the state to meet the McCains at their Sedona, Arizona home. (I think that’s home #3, right?) After accepting McCain’s invitation to join her on the ticket and addressing the adoring masses at the Republican National Convention, she’s been avoiding the press like the plague, and appearing at campaign stops around the country.

I wonder if Republican voters see the irony of non-stop media coverage, tens of thousands of Republicans waiting on line for hours, and chanting Sa-rah Sah-rah. It’s almost like she was a……(ominous organ music)……celebrity. And we all know how we feel about celebrities, and the mindless, fawning, wide-eyed ‘followers’ that worship the ground they walk on.

I digress.

There’s a big “Welcome Home” rally planned for her in Fairbanks tonight. Tomorrow she will speak at the deployment ceremony for the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Fort Wainwright. Her son, Track, is about to deploy to Iraq with that unit.

At the end of the week, she’ll return to the Mat-Su Valley, but no public events have been scheduled, and she has refused to meet with any local media. At some point during her travels, she will de-bunker herself and meet with Charlie Gibson of ABC news for “exclusive interviews.”

There is some talk of a rally on Saturday in Anchorage, but nothing is official yet. There is, however, another type of rally. There’s an email circulating inviting Anchorage women, and the men who love them, to a rally hosted by the newly found group “Alaska Women Reject Palin”. It is being touted as a bipartisan group whose purpose it is to make it known that Palin does not have the support of all Alaskan women, and that this election is a matter of issues, not gender, or personality.

UPDATE:  The AKWAP (Alaska Women Against Palin) group is meeting at noon on Saturday in front of the Loussac Library in Anchorage.  Wear hot pink and black….if you have it.

Typical left-wing lie. Unless they mean the rally will feature members of both the Democrat Party and the Socialist Party.

Alaska Women Reject Palin.

I like that. If I lived in Alaska, I would be there.

Are there any plans for Obama supporters to show up at her “welcome home” event carrying signs like “Why do you lie Sarah”?

And you know this how? Or are you just spouting your fat mouth off? What’s the matter, you don’t like your girl being vetted? You like woman who blatantly lie? You like women who play you for a fool?

I’m betting there are a lot of Republicans in Alaska who don’t like Sarah Barracuda. And I’m betting there are more now than there were a couple of weeks ago. She has been vetted not only for us outside Alaska, but for the people who live there too.

The republicans are out selling our natural gas resources off to the Japanese and we didn’t know anything about it, but Palin flower did. Here is the proof.

Mudflats, please digg into this and see if you can get a post up on HuffPO.

McCain/Palin: Putting Japan First
by Kagro X
Wed Sep 10, 2008 at 11:00:57 AM PDT

“Drill, baby, drill!” “Sell out to the Japanese, baby, sell out to the Japanese!”

The Republicans have just spent a month going completely frothy over the need to drill for oil and natural gas in every backyard in America, claiming it’ll lower gasoline prices at the pump.

But did you know that in the meantime, they’ve been preparing to secret all that natural gas out of the country and sell it to the Japanese?

McCain just released a new ad. I’d like to know how Alaskan’s react to this. The ad shows Obama’s lawyers, investors, etc.-–depicted as wolves–-descending upon Palin and Alaskans. When I watched it, it looked to me like McCain was trying to justify Palin’s policy of allowing aerial shooting of wolves … The ad is actually entitled “fact-check”

You can see it at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/10/campaign-adwatch-mccains_n_125387.html

Would you kindly keep your governor when she arrives. Thank you. And, thank you for your information. I stumbled upon this website while doing my homework on both candidates. It has been quite informative. I sincerely hope that Ms. Palin will use this time at home to reflect that ‘thou shall not lie’ is, as far as I am aware, one of the ten commandments and shame on her for that. Nice example to set. Again, just keep her – the rest of us don’t want her!

Here is a piece that explains the Palin hysteria:

Obama and The Palin Effect

From: Deepak Chopra

Posted: September 4th, 2008

Sometimes politics has the uncanny effect of mirroring the National psyche even when nobody intended to do that. This is perfectly illustrated by the rousing effect that Gov. Sarah Palin had on the Republican convention in Minneapolis this week.

On the surface, she outdoes former Vice President Dan Quayle as an unlikely choice, given her negligent parochial expertise in the complex affairs of governing. Her state of Alaska has less than 700,000 residents, which reduces the job of governor to the scale of running one-tenth of New York City. By comparison, Rudy Giuliani is a towering international figure.

Palin’s pluck has been admired, and her forthrightness, but her real appeal goes deeper. She is the reverse of Barack Obama, in essence his shadow, deriding his idealism and exhorting people to obey their worst impulses. In psychological terms the shadow is that part of the psyche that hides out of sight, countering our aspirations, virtue, and vision with qualities we are ashamed to face: anger, fear, revenge, violence, selfishness, and suspicion of “the other.”

For millions of Americans, Obama triggers those feelings, but they don’t want to express them. He is calling for us to reach for our higher selves, and frankly, that stirs up hidden reactions of an unsavory kind. (Just to be perfectly clear, I am not making a verbal play out of the fact that Sen. Obama is black. The shadow is a metaphor widely in use before his arrival on the scene.)

I recognize that psychological analysis of politics is usually not welcome by the public, but I believe such a perspective can be helpful here to understand Palin’s message. In her acceptance speech Gov. Palin sent a rousing call to those who want to celebrate their resistance to change and a higher vision.

Look at what she stands for:

–Small town values — a denial of America’s global role, a return to petty, small-minded parochialism.

–Ignorance of world affairs — a repudiation of the need to repair America’s image abroad.

–Family values — a code for walling out anybody who makes a claim for social justice. Such strangers, being outside the family, don’t need to be heeded.

–Rigid stands on guns and abortion — a scornful repudiation that these issues can be negotiated with those who disagree.

–Patriotism — the usual fallback in a failed war.

–“Reform” — an italicized term, since in addition to cleaning out corruption and excessive spending, one also throws out anyone who doesn’t fit your ideology.

–Palin reinforces the overall message of the reactionary right, which has been in play since 1980, that social justice is liberal-radical, that minorities and immigrants, being different from “us” pure American types, can be ignored, that progressivism takes too much effort and globalism is a foreign threat. The radical right marches under the banners of “I’m all right, Jack,” and “Why change? Everything’s OK as it is.”

The irony, of course, is that Gov. Palin is a woman and a reactionary at the same time. She can add mom to apple pie on her resume, while blithely reversing forty years of feminist progress. The irony is superficial; there are millions of women who stand on the side of conservatism, however obviously they are voting against their own good.

The Republicans have won multiple national elections by raising shadow issues based on fear, rejection, hostility to change, and narrow-mindedness.

Obama’s call for higher ideals in politics can’t be seen in a vacuum. The shadow is real; it was bound to respond. Not just conservatives possess a shadow — we all do. So what comes next is a contest between the two forces of progress and inertia. Will the shadow win again, or has its furtive appeal become exhausted? No one can predict. The best thing about Gov. Palin is that she brought this conflict to light, which makes the upcoming debate honest. It would be a shame to elect another Reagan, whose smiling persona was a stalking horse for the reactionary forces that have brought us to the demoralized state we are in. We deserve to see what we are getting, without disguise.

You do realize that providing more details than neccessary about his unit/deployment endangers not only Track but those in his unit? The AP is at fault for this , but no need to compound the issue: the big scary Sadrists and insurgents are still out there and they lap up any info they can get on the net about our troops. The press had very specific guidelines when reporting where/when they were. You’ll notice very spare details were given about Webb’s son or Biden’s deployment.

Read what is on Counterpunch. Some truth here…just as several on this blog have stated….it will be a rerun of past elections unless we all focus FIRMLY on the issues. I think we all need to send Obama’s campaign emails telling him that he must firmly state his opinions (parts of the O’Reilly interview were painful). Just as they energized their base through firmness (even though it’s fluff), we too must do the same.

If this country is split 50/50 again, I suggest we do what the South wanted to do before Lincoln stopped them. Let them succeed. Then all the Repubicans can go down there and have their John Mc Cains and Karl Roves and Sarah Palins and we can stay up here and live a normal life with smart, good people like Obama and Joe Biden and Hillary. If Alaska wants to succeed, then they can have that choice. I am beginning to think we are just too big to be able to ever come together again. This saddens me because my great grandfather (5 times back) fought along side George Washington in the Revolution and died in the Battle of White Plains (NY) Aug 1776 and no, I did not know there was a Battle of White Plains till I researched my background. If Obama has to apologize to Palin, McCain has to apologize to Hillary. His remark was actually contextually connected to Hillary’s plan… Palin wasn’t even mentioned in Obama’s remarks…

McCain is using Palin as cover for those that will vote for him simply because they can’t bring themselves to vote for a black man.

The racists can claim progress by voting for a ticket with a woman on it.

If Palin looked like Janet Reno it wouldn’t work.

This is why McCain wins..

The National Enquirer has another story, paints a picture of the Palin family as a pack of drug-addled Clampetts, out of control.

Excerpt:

The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively that Sarah’s oldest son, Track, was addicted to the power drug OxyContin for nearly the past two years, snorting it, eating it, smoking it and even injecting it. And as Track, 19, heads to Iraq as part of the U.S. armed forces, Sarah and her husband Todd were powerless to stop his wild antics, detailed in the new issue of The ENQUIRER, which goes on sale today.

THE ENQUIRER also has exclusive details about Track’s use of other drugs, including cocaine, and his involvement in a notorious local vandalism incident.

“I’ve partied with him (Track) for years,” a source disclosed. “I’ve seen him snort cocaine, snort and smoke OxyContin, drink booze and smoke weed.”

The source also divulged the girls would do anything for Track and he’d use his local celebrity to manipulate other guys “to get them to steal things he wanted.”

“He finally did what a lot of troubled kids here do,” the source divulged. “You join the military.”

Palin didn’t invent the word “lipstick.” The phrase “lipstick on a pig” has been a common expression for, what, the last 75 years? Now we’re not allowed to use expressions in the common lexicon? I LOVE that Obama came out swinging on that.

We are focusing on policy issues… outside… to use the Alaskan term. Here we are venting and discussing policy issues. Here we are comparing notes… here we are supportive of and by our community. Many of us go out and blog elsewhere — none with the coverage that our friend Mudflats gets it is true — but if we have hijacked Mudflats to be able to discuss this election and the craziness surrounding it, we can be forgiven. It gives us the strength to go outside.

I contend that the wind will ebb from Palin’s sails. The fundamentalist base is foaming at the mouth for her and pundits have proven McCain can’t win with them alone. The major media outlets are onto Palin’s creepy, insistent lies and responsible editorials are popping up like this one today from Andrew Sullivan:

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/09/mccains-integri.html

The Rovian dictum is that the American voting public is not smart enough to figure out things for themselves–that they will swing right out of ignorance and fear. The dictum also relies on people not voting at all. Obama has set records for registration and he still has a healthy lead in blue state electoral college votes. The debates will change a lot of minds and it’s up to Obama to fight back and to Biden to muzzle the pit bull–not with insults, but with experience, poise and facts. She is so shrill that she runs the risk of screwing herself. It’s the kind of act that will have trouble lasting even fifty some-odd days.

This is too much of a sideshow right now–the kind of sideshow that got Bush elected twice with barely enough votes for a majority. The McCain machine isn’t as well-oiled as the greasy old Bush machine and Palin is such a weird character out of right field that she’ll wind up a liability on election day. A charade like this just can’t last under the scrutiny it’s starting to receive. It’s pathetic, really.

Please Ms. Palin, I implore you to just go away.

As long as the issues stay front and center this election will work out the way it is supposed to – I believe the retort to Ms. Palin and Mr. McCain should be “I’m sorry, this isn’t high school, and I just don’t want to sign your yearbook.”

Sorry to be O/T, but good article from Andrew Sullivan (my favorite conservative writer) this morning on McCain’s (lack of) integrity: http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/09/mccains-integri.html

“McCain has demonstrated in the last two months that he does not have the character to be president of the United States. And that is why it is more important than ever to ensure that Barack Obama is the next president. The alternative is now unthinkable. And McCain – no one else – has proved it.” Read the whole enchilada!

Since she will not make a statement on her positions can we refer to her as a pig in a poke?

10 09 2008
White Agate

Chopra hit the nail on the head…I was thinking that today. Let’s bring it all out in the open and get on with it. The fact is, we don’t have a choice…climate change is a real and even now understated threat. Did you see Letterman on that the other day? We can’t put off moving forward another moment, and what I mean by that is retooling for the future and becoming a resource in that regard for the world. Change is hard, we all have our demons. But doing nothing is worse.

Also a terrific piece about ‘The Battle for a Country’s Soul’ by Jane Mayer in the August 14 ‘New York Review of Books.’ That pretty much sums it up, too. Among other things, Philip Zelikow, the director of the 9/11 Commission, predicted that ‘…in time…the Bush administration’s descent into torture would be seen as akin to Roosevelt’s internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII. It happened, he believed, in much the same way, for many of the same reasons. As he put it, ‘Fear and anxiety were exploited by zealots and fools.”

I called a bunch of people today, male, female, multiple ages. Some said they didn’t feel they could trust Obama, and were using this situation to see how he comports himself. I think he is well aware of this. A few women said they were so happy to see a woman in a prominent public position, however they were still unclear about her views. There is a hunger for that, although I would argue that our national political power base is really still mostly male.

Many people upset over the books and the library issue.

When do the Bloggies (I think that’s the word) go up? Let’s keep that one on the list, Mudpups.

Best wishes and energy to those directly affected by the 9/11 tragedy. We all have been affected, I guess you could say, but you know what I mean. I have family in NYC and that was a day out of time, to say the least. We are all New Yorkers on 9/11 is my feeling.

A question for you Alaskans:

Are you not bothered by the fact that Palin’s husband, the “First Dude” (how crass!), is present during official state meetings and cc’ed on official e-mails? I mean, WHO ELECTED HIM?!! It appears that he is acting as “Co-Governor,” which I find very troubling. Is he really making all the decisions behind the scenes, and she is just the “frontman?”

This concerns me greatly, as one can only presume that if McCain-Palin emerge victorious that Todd will be the “Co-Vice President” of the United States. Yet not a peep about this…..

Interesting discussion on NPR’s Diane Rehm show http://wamu.org/programs/dr/08/09/10.php#19211 this morning about Gov. Palin and the media. Apparently Charlie Gibson’s interview will be part of World News Tonight? Given that there’s other news to report, the speculation is that it will be a short interview. Some reporters in the MSM seem to be defending their right to ask the tough questions, and think that Gibson, as a professional, will not simply adhere to the campaign playbook. Diane Rehm invited Gov. Palin to go on her show. Now if anyone treats guests with “respect and deference” it’s Diane Rehm, but Ms. Rehm can ask tough and insightful questions at the same time. Hmmm, wonder what are the odds that the governor might accept the invitation?

Sarah Palin is totally a celebrity, which justs makes all of McCain’s “celebrity” attacks on Obama before he chose her that much more laughable. When people are comparing you to Lynne Spears, it’s over.

Glad to hear about AWRP, we’ll definitely be looking out for more info on them. It’s frustrating enough as American women to deal with ‘oh but you’re going to vote for her right? she’s a WOMAN’. Being an Alaskan woman must add a whole new layer to all of that.

I believe the election should be Obama vs McCain. But the GOP is trying to make it people vote for Palin. Worse yet, at least initially, people are responding to it. And I think this must be addressed. The Palin factor can’t be ignored. Frankly, and we all know this, if people were educated about her she’d very clearly be a liability to the McCain ticket. But as it stands, she’s their only hope.

BTW, why isn’t this story getting more play?

http://www.frontiersman.com/articles/2000/05/23/news.txt

Wasilla had been charging women who came to the police with sexual assault claims for the forensics tests. time for a view OF the forest ..too much is getting lost AMONGST the trees.

I sincerely hope that the Palin’s get the rest and family time that they deserve and probably need back in their home. Welcome to stardom and Her Veepness 101.🙂

If half of the 24/7 rumor mill stories are correct, than I would think this is a family which has been vetted personally by their older kids’ choices in life. I won’t judge right or wrong, not my place. again, admittedly, like the supermarket checkout lane, we do notice the tabloid headlines.

on the other hand,

SP’s political vetting was minimal and the actual choice ultimately reflects McCain’s poor judgement in picking a VP not ready to take over. period. That should be SP’s first real press question, “are you the best candidate to fill the position if called upon?”.

like most, a challenging economy is seeping into our daily life and our future goals. I want civil debate and need specifics on plans for a change to my checkbook, health coverage, education and competitiveness. I’m not getting what I would like this cycle from the GOP. I do see 2004 Rove tactics all over again and I choose a different path.

After the votes are counted, our family will move forward and continue to try to make the best of what we are given to work with. National politics with Obama or McCain will be the sideshow.

We’ll continue to enjoy life’s journey with hopefully character instead of fast tracking to the final destination via the gutter. There are many independents, democrats and republicans and non voters who share similiar aspirations. That is a good thing.

That will be the Republican line, and it’ll be splashed across the MSM. There will be pious commentary everywhere. The Enquirer is the newspaper that everyone claims to hate but loves to buy. They sell 2.76 million copies per week. Breasts will be beaten, lawsuits threatened, sympathetic noises made. And then everyone will go home and read the news.

the logician: (quoting an earlier comment) “I worry that National Enquirer will make “victims” out of the poor Palin family.”

the logician: “That will be the Republican line,”

they’re going to have a harder time making that stick given the john edwards kerfluffle and all the “credibility” extended to the enquirer by republicans in that regard. not saying they won’t try it but it will be a more difficult sale to close with people with brain cells to rub together.

Palin Team Stocked with Bush Veterans~

“The intensive prep session includes staffers going through footage of previous interviews by the “World News Tonight “anchor, according to an aide.

McCain aides declined to say whether they’re readying Palin by asking mock questions.”

To which she would, no doubt, give mock answers.

Regarding the forthcoming interview with Gibson, here is someone’s viewpoint on the ABC site.

Charles,It must be obvious to you that Sarah Palin isn’t the only one who’s going to be judged by your interview of her; you and ABC are as well. And rightfully so. The contest for the presidency isn’t American Idol and you’re not Ryan Seacrest. This isn’t a game show or Larry King. It’s history and you’re thrust into the middle of it. And lives all around the world are going to be effected by how this election goes based on how they perceive these candidates and what they say. It’s up to you to make sure that this interview isn’t a platform for stump speeches and story points. If you don’t ask the vital questions with tough follow up questions, you might be instrumental in helping elect an unqualified VP. I know a lot of soccer mothers who are smart, who juggle family and work and who are successful in business – but are these the requirements to be a heartbeat away from the most powerful world leader? This is madness. I’m not sure I’d like her as my neighbor let alone as the VP. I’d much sooner vote for you. Much. And in your heart of hearts you know how crazy this is. So, at the very least let’s not be politically correct and bring out the doilies and tea – this is serious stuff. Real serious. I know that the Republicans have already drafted letters complaining about how badly you treated poor Sarah. And likewise we Democrats are poised to complain about how you pitched her one softball after another. No surprises here. But please this is more important than your reputation. Truly the lives and livelihoods of millions of people are going to be effected by this election and you’re about to play a huge part in it. You’re our mouths and brains. Charlie make yourself proud, make your mother proud, make me proud and make your country proud. I’ll be crossing my fingers and watching.

I enjoyed the post quoting Deepak Chopra and read it as Palin is a failure at living a virtuous life, knows it and can’t deal with it, therefore she feels she needs to strike out at those who have made a success of their lives.

I truly believe that Sarah Palin WILL self-destruct before too much longer, now that she has been exposed to the world.

@ Century –

1) It would be good to meld your comments about the incest, child sex abuse and rape with both Palin’s stance of “no abortion for any case” and then the McCain’s campaign accusing Mr. Obama of teaching sex ed to kindergartners. What Mr. Obama’s bill really was, and he did a good job last evening with this, was to PROTECT OUR CHILDREN FROM PEDOPHILES. . . a growing number in the US because we have the social programs are drying up. SO….the big question in my mind is: McCain/Palin will not protect the child (no abortion for rape, incest, etc), but they WILL protect the pedophile (McCain’s attack on Obama’s bill in the commercial). When one links those two, it is a strong statement on where both women and children fit into the United States society today.

2) If you have not already, Guttmacher Institute is a non-profit that tracks these things state by state. http://www.guttmacher.org/presentations/state_ab_pt.html

http://www.guttmacher.org/media/nr/2008/08/13/index.html – trends among Blacks and Hispanics – This link is the full story regarding the facts as noted below. It should make people ask: SO JUST WHAT DOES MCCAIN/PALIN THINK OF MINORITY AND HISPANIC WOMEN?

August 13, 2008
NO CONSPIRACY THEORIES NEEDED: HIGHER ABORTION RATES AMONG WOMEN OF COLOR REFLECT HIGHER RATES OF UNINTENDED PREGNANCY
Improving Access to High-Quality, Affordable Contraceptive Services Among Steps Needed to Reduce Health Disparities

Abortion rates among racial and ethnic minorities, especially blacks and Hispanics, are higher than rates among white women and are directly related to their higher rates of unintended pregnancy, according to a new Guttmacher policy analysis.

The findings run counter to claims by antiabortion activists that high abortion rates among minorities are the result of supposed aggressive marketing by abortion providers to minority communities. Instead, disproportionately high rates of both unintended pregnancy and abortion are just one symptom of broader health disparities ranging from sexually transmitted infections to diabetes and heart disease.

“There really is no need to resort to far-flung conspiracy theories. Behind virtually every abortion is an unintended pregnancy. And because women of color are much more likely to experience unintended pregnancies than any other group, they are also more likely to seek and obtain abortions than any other group,” says Susan A. Cohen, author of the new Analysis.

“Fundamentally, the question policymakers should be asking is not why women of color have high abortion rates, but rather what can be done to help them have fewer unintended pregnancies and achieve better health outcomes more generally.”

Add just these two facts together, and mix in McCain’s record of supporting women’s rights, and you can understand why so many of us are concerned.

I posted a comment on the previous thread, but it still applies so I’m reposting it here. Thanks for including the Deepak Chopra piece. His explanation of “the shadow” is so very true, and it also speaks to what I’ve been feeling about this campaign but haven’t been able to put my finger on.

@ Snoskred
I’ve lived through and left a verbally, emotionally and sometimes physically abusive relationship. Believe it or not, I don’t hate my ex. He ended up losing his career and his family and his friends. I truly feel sorry for him. I understand the hate and bitterness. I’ve been there. But the abuser isn’t worth all that energy. I’ve forgiven him for the things he did to me. I’m having a harder time with when it involved the kids, even if only indirectly.

McCain’s campaign tactics remind me of an abusive relationship. If we wonder why those tactics work, ask yourselves why women stay around. It’s not stupidity. We stay for a variety of reasons — fear of the unknown , the mythology of the perfect family/nation, the shame and guilt of admitting such huge lapses in judgment, and many more.

The cheering and worship is getting sickening down here in the lower 48’s.

How could anybody expect to even want to elect somebody to the VP’s job when they have not even been in the public eye until less then 4 months from the election.
Could you imagine if the Democrats tried this with someone unknown?
The Republicans must be truly desperate to push someone who is unknown so that the public would waste valuable time trying just to get to know who she is instead of answering pertinent fact based policy question.

The article from the Guardian, mentioned before:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/sep/10/uselections2008.barackobama

He describes the view we have in the Netherlands as well. Most of the world is worrying about what’s going on in these elections – and is wanting Obama for president.

Quote:
“Of course I know that even to mention Obama’s support around the world is to hurt him. Incredibly, that large Berlin crowd damaged Obama at home, branding him the “candidate of Europe” and making him seem less of a patriotic American.”

The more problems, the more ostrich behaviour..

And he concludes the article:
“But what does that say about today’s America, that the world’s esteem is now unwanted? If Americans reject Obama, they will be sending the clearest possible message to the rest of us – and, make no mistake, we shall hear it.”

So, please keep up your good work and good spirit. Here in Europe, we can only pray..

All – if you can help, that would be great. I know they are asking for $50, but every little bit counts. This is the ad from the POW who knew McCain during the Vietnam War.

DFA Member –

On Monday, Jim asked if Democracy for America should join Brave
New PAC in running a nationally televised ad exposing John
McCain:

The answer: YES!

Over 79% of DFA members said go for it. Our ad, “Unfit to Lead”,
is aggressive, powerful, and it’s the truth. You told us loud
and clear that you wanted DFA to hit John McCain where it hurts.
Now back up the vote with action.

CONTRIBUTE $50 TODAY TO GET OUR AD ON THE AIR!
http://ga1.org/ct/I1cFcs61zz2G/

John McCain is reckless, erratic, and dangerous. Even his fellow
Republicans think so, “The thought of his being president sends
a cold chill down my spine,” Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) told
the Boston Globe. “He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his
temper and he worries me.”

Yet McCain has a real shot to win this election. Recent polls
put him either tied or in the lead nationally. Instead of
focusing on the issues that will help get America on the right
track, John McCain is using the Karl Rove playbook to scare
voters.

It’s time for America to hear from someone who served with John
McCain. Dr. Butler has known John McCain for decades. Dr. Butler
not only served with him in Vietnam, but was a prisoner of war
with him at the Hanoi Hilton. Please watch the ad and then
contribute $50 to help us cover the air waves with the truth.

CHIP IN $50 RIGHT NOW TO RUN OUR AD IN ALL 50 STATES!
http://ga1.org/ct/I1cFcs61zz2G/

There is too much at stake in this election to pull any punches.
You voted to go on the attack. Now, let’s put the people-powered
resources of our over 725,000 members behind it and get America
talking about why John McCain is unfit to lead.

Thank you for exposing the real McCain.

I’m thinking that we need to organize and “convince” the mainstream media to refocus their airtime away from lipstick and pigs and onto some real issues … especially the issues that Gov. Palin & McCain support. The MSM is really … well … retarded. They are so distracted right now because they saw a pig wearing lipstick and just had to make it an issue. If they would’ve ignored the lipstick wearing pig and moved on to something more substantial; the country would start to realize what this McCain/Palin ticket is REALLY about. But we’ll never get there chasing pigs.

This is what I care about
Presidents:
Who will best help the energy crisis?
Who will best help attend to the health care crisis?
Who will best help to preserve and defend the Constitution?
Who will best defend women’s rights?
Who will best help our educational crisis?
Who will best help to restore America in world views and opinions?
Who will best serve our valiant military veterans?
Who will most likely tell us the TRUTH?
Who will best attend to our planet?
Who will best promote EQUALITY for ALL people, not just a FEW people.

VICE PRESIDENT
Who has our best interests at heart and will help the next President
with all of the above.
Who has all the knowledge, skill and world EXPERIENCE
to step in as president if the new President passes away in office.?

The answers are blatantly clear.
I pray each night and each morning as well as throughout each day as these thoughts run through my mind that God allows America to ask themselves these questions and answer them with truth in their hearts.
I pray each day the same that God disallows racism and fear to drive this election as it has in the past.

On election day in November, I will have my answer.

“one thing that always seems to get to the bottom of the MSM heap is how people outside the US feel about US and its politics”

with all due respect the americans that are going to vote repub and those who are still undecided could care less about what the world thinks. in fact, they are likely to use this as “proof” to say why we (in support of Obama) are un-american. i have family who are citizens of other countries (including immediate family with european citizenship) so i don’t want you to feel offended by my comments. i care what the world thinks about the US. i don’t blame you for feeling strongly about this election. our acts here in the US affect you directly more than most americans understand. but i don’t think highlighting this is necessarily going to work.

Nancy, I’m not offended in the slightest, but your comment is one reason why I don’t really want to post too much on here – despite most of Europe being concerned with what the outcome of the US elections are, a lot of us also realise that many in the US really don’t care what the rest of the world thinks and the last eight years have made that abundantly clear (I apologise if I sound harsh).

That said, I have some spare rooms at my place, so maybe Harley, Chantoosie and I can offer refuge if the worst happens in November. One of the most disturbing things from my perspective is that so much of the campaigning seems to be concerned with reproductive rights – echoes of Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. Worryingly so.

Okay, the Enquirer mentions Troopergate, Babygate, and has a slight reference to the possible affair that Palin had with an associate of Todd’s.

The only things new to us that I see:

~They say Palin got pissed when Wooten left her sis for his first wife. (They said he was cheating on Molly with his first wife, specifically.)

~Bristol refused to go along with the wedding plands Palin was setting up and is a typical rebellious teen.

That’s about it. Nothing too deep. But it’ll get some people’s attention.

10 09 2008
Proud2BUSA

@Harley and your questions to the President:

Wow – did you see how many “crisis” you have there? Were in this position 8 years ago when W took over? noooooooooooooooooo.

I’m just playing this in my mind as a Macheavellian (I’m sure I misspelled that). Let me see. McCain has sold his soul to get to finally ask people to be their President. He sold his soul to lobbyists, big business and the Far Right who are convinced they can start Armageddon.
The Far Right is delighted that they have finally worn him down and can manipulate him. Let’s face it – the village idiot we call W – well, he was malleable as long as Cheney stuck around him but he had Bush Sr. in the picture. Now, they have a real chance. McCain. He’s old. He’s tired. Does anyone really believe he has four more years of fight in him and especially with those people who put him there? He is going to owe, owe, owe from the first day in office, and he will play the same games then as he does now. . . let’s get you focused a LOT of different stuff so you don’t see what I’m really cooking up over here.

I really think this is a chess move on Rove and the extreme’s part. Get him in – he’s a known name and brand – and then let the old geezer die about 1/2 way through his term. Somewhere, Lieberman has been promised a leadership role. One does not just spit on the Party it has represented for so long in the public fashion he did at the RNC without some promise of a prominent role. So, he’s sold out too.

Sarah will now have 2 years as VEEP under her belt and people will at least know her. Rove and his extremists will now have a mouthpiece. They will control her as well as the Country. Who doesn’t want to watch a Beauty Queen report how wonderful everything is as despair and desparation surrounds our Country?

Watch the laws and rules change. Watch the difference in how the media reports. Watch as no one is allowed to protest or challenge – we’re already observing a palpable softening in the media. Watch the libraries who receive funds be required to support only selected books (this will be guised under budget constraints). Watch our children’s education change to reflect a mightier, Armageddon tone. “no need for alternative energy because we won’t be here!” Watch the undesireables pile up. The elderly – they’re a drain on the military budget. We like the young girls however and that bill that Obama wrote and passed to protect them against predators. . . it has to go.

I know this sounds ominous and dire, but really, are we that FAR off?

We will not have the freedoms we enjoy today. We will have a mandatory draft. We will become more and more in debt and will become the “ARMY” for one of the wealthier countries who will use our children has their field forces while their children will be able to be the officers and not get bloodied. This is so middle ages.

How? they’re electronic voting machines. My husband is in IT, he can do anything remotely, who would know if the machines are being tampered with? A Brit Abroad–

Sadly, Nancy accurately reflects a large part of Americans’ thinking. By now you may know that Sarah Palin got her first passport just a few years ago. I’d be willing to bet that George W got his after he was elected in 2000! You may remember that he was ( I think) genuinely moved and astonished when he attended the Pope’s funeral. Can you imagine being born into an enormously wealthy family, the son of an American president and to have never visit the Vatican?

In our defense, I must say that by the time I drive over to my Mom’s house in the USA, I’d travel from London to Skye, Scotland on the other side of the pond. When Queen Elizabeth first visited the USA, she was asked what impressed her most about the USA and her reply was “Your size.”

Some of us are fortunate to have friends and relatives who live abroad or we just visit on our own without bring on a bus tour. Some have children who have studied abroad and are thrilled to go and help them pack to come home! Some host exchange students and send children to you. This opens our dialogues and we begin to realize how perceptions can change…quickly.

Visiting with relatives in Ireland is always such a pleasure, hearing the tales of how much the admired America, how personally devastated they all were on 9/11,etc. All that changed when we entered Iraq..and when we (not I!!!!) re-elected George W.
We still love to visit, and they know they are preaching to the choir, but their attitude toward America is different.

For the majority of Americans, comments and critiques from non-Americans causes them to “circle the wagons” rather than to lend a wise ear.

Be patient with us…we’re still young ( though not I)…we can learn…if we try.

I don’t get why Palin and McCain aren’t in Texas helping people prepare for Hurricane Ike. Don’t they care? That is one scary looking storm.

Maybe it will hit in a lightly populated area and just take out oil refineries.
Storms in the Gulf of Mexico are one reason Governor Palin has pushed drilling in Alaska for national security. I guess if Ike hits Texas hard it could fit into her campaign for Alaskan oil and gas resource development.

Maybe Ike is part of God’s plan for Palin. Texas has a lot of electoral votes, though. Might look bad to be boosting Ike’s chances too much. Maybe they could release an add showing how heartless and uncaring Obama is about Texas hurricane victims. Slime Obama for being Muslim again, how he wants Gulf of Mexico oil rigs to go under to boost his friends in the Persian Gulf.

Yea, that should work.

Today the Law Project for Psychiatric Rights (PsychRights) announced that due to the State of Alaska’s unwillingness, or inability, to enter into substantive talks, it has filed its lawsuit against the State of Alaska and officials responsible for the excessive, ineffective, and extremely harmful psychiatric drugging of Alaskan children and youth. The lawsuit seeks an injunction stopping the practice of Alaska authorizing or paying for psychotropic drugs to be given children without safeguards being in place to make sure proper decision making occurs.

Jim Gottstein, the president of PsychRights and the attorney bringing the lawsuit, said, “The corrupt influence of the pharmaceutical industry in illegally promoting much of this psychiatric drugging of children has been well established, yet the State of Alaska continues to inflict great harm on the children it has taken away from their families by giving them these drugs.” It is ludicrous that the State sued a drug company for fraud in hiding the harm caused by one of these drugs and still gives that same drug and other toxic drugs like it, to children.

Dr. Karen Effrem, pediatrician and board member of the Alliance for Human Research Protection (AHRP) and the International Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychology (ICSPP), said, “These dangerous and ineffective drugs are tragically overused to merely control behavior of children who are distraught about being taken away from their families. Missing one’s family or reacting to trauma are wrongly labeled as biological brain disorders that need treatment with powerful medications. Drugs will not put their families back together or help them overcome their trauma and grief. These brain and body damaging pharmaceuticals compound the abuse and trauma. To paraphrase a popular motivational saying, what these kids truly need are ‘hugs, not drugs; hope not dope,’ (even legal dope)”

Governor Palin is one of the defendants because, as governor, she is ultimately responsible for the protection of the children of Alaska, but Mr. Gottstein noted, “I doubt anyone on Governor Palin’s staff has even let her know about the problem of the State harming Alaskan children through excessive psychiatric drugging despite my trying to bring it to her attention ever since she came into office.” “I know Governor Palin has been focused on the very pressing issue of freeing Alaska, and the nation for that matter, from Big Oil’s stranglehold on the trillions of cubic feet of North Slope natural gas the nation needs from reaching the people that need it,” Mr. Gottstein continued, “but Alaska’s children also deserve her attention. We know that Governor Palin is very compassionate about the needs of children with problems and it is hard to imagine she would turn her back on them if she knew about it.”

If, as Governor Palin told the nation on Friday, Alaska has enough money to build the Bridge to Nowhere if it wants to (which it does), it certainly has the money to provide the vital services for these vulnerable children sought by PsychRights in the lawsuit. These best practices have been proven far more effective and are far less harmful than drugging kids and were assembled by the Critical ThinkRx Program, under the auspices of and funded by a grant from the Attorneys General Consumer and Prescriber Grant Program of which the Alaska Attorney General is member.

Mr. Gottstein concluded by saying, “It is outrageous that the Commissioner of the Department of Health and Services wanted to talk with PsychRights about what might be done to avoid the lawsuit, but wasn’t allowed to do so by the Attorney General’s Office.”

For those who would like more information, in addition to the Complaint, there is a set of Questions and Answers about the lawsuit and Mr. Gottstein is scheduled to speak October 10th on “Critical ThinkRx and PsychRights’ Lawsuit Against the State of Alaska’s Psychiatric Drugging of Children” at the ICSPP conference being held October 10-12, in Tampa Florida.

I forwarded the link on the Michigan dirty tricks to the only contact I have in the Obama campaign and asked him to forward it to the appropriate people. It has a huge potential effect here, too. Two adjoining cities, total population about 300K — 12K+ homes somewhere in the foreclosure process. And that doesn’t include the families affected because they had the misfortune of renting one of those homes. Even in my very red area, some of those people are Obama supporters. Their votes are important.

LOL! Apparently, Jason Bourne doesn’t feel safe with Palin at the helm.

“I think there’s a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that’s a really scary thing… I think the pick was made for political purposes… Do the actuary tables and there’s a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn’t survive his first term and it’ll be President Palin… It’s like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, ‘oh, I’m just a hockey mom’… and she’s facing down President Putin… It’s totally absurd… it’s a really terrifying possibility… I need to know if she really think that dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago. I want to know that, I really do. Because she’s gonna have the nuclear codes.

Hey Reg,

First, the lawyers are there to protect people who get turned away from polling places because of a litany of crap ie. Wrong ID, not on roll even though you have your voter card etc.. I heard a first hand account on the Randi Rhodes show by a guy during the primaries that even called the sec. of state and was still denied because he didn’t show a picture id. It was not required per state law but he was ARRESTED for “being disruptive”.

Secondly, quite a few states have rejected the Diebold machines and are going to a paper scan sheet. Even then, lawyers on call might dissuade some shenanigans.

But I pointed this out days ago here on ‘flats, Rove is trying to distract us so they can do ’04 again. To quote my man Obama, “Enough is Enough”!

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I stood on the far West end of Galveston Island watching a roseate spoonbill a couple of years ago. The Texas coastline all along the Gulf looks so low and vunerable. I really hope this storm doesn’t mess with the Galveston-Huston area. So many lives would be at risk. The real estate build-up along that low sand island outside of Galveston-I hear it has been insured by taxpayer fed. money, because private insurers wouldn’t touch it.

I’m a little heart-rent about the million dollar homes built on sand that the taxpayers are going to pay for, but the vunerable population in the whole area really, really has my support and prayers..

A short drive from Fairbanks is a small town called Talkeetna where Palin’s approval rating would quite possibly be at 0% or, if not that low, likely the lowest of any city/town in Alaska. One hopes that everyone in Talkeetna will make the drive to Fairbanks to say exactly what they think of her!!!!! I won’t be making the trek, but am looking for any further info re: that proposed rally here in Anchorage for those of us 100% opposed to Palin (in every way, not just as VP!).

Let me also chime in on the US vs. other country issue: As someone who recently moved back to the US from the UK I can say that the opinions of others counts, regardless of their country of residence! The perception of Americans by others is likely at its lowest point ever, and McCain/Palin is unlikely to change that for the better. I had many conversations about politics with non-US folk while overseas, and they are desperate for us to have a leader that will bring peace back to the table! Other countries with elected officials have the same issues as we do! If constituents are not happy with the policies of their officials (say Tony Blair being perceived as a Bush lackey), that filters down to every level of society. And a country’s interactions with perceived idiots/despots adversely affects their relationships with other countries. Bottom line is this election affects the entire world, not just the US, and I am glad to have readers from other countries reading this blog & commenting with positive insights & links from newspapers outside of the US. So keep the comments coming from outside the US! I have sent a link to this site to several of my UK friends, and I hope that they will in turn pass it on so that there will not be another headline in the UK that reads “How Can 55 Million People Be So Stupid?” (A UK headline after Bush’s re-election).

You have supplied me with infomation. You know what they say, knowledge is power. And your snark gives me a much needed laugh.

At this moment in time, I don’t have an informative link or anything to add to the conversation that is insightful. But I do have a recommendation. When I’m reading information that leaves me feeling less than optimistic, I open another window on my computer and play the following:

“Yes We Can”

“We Are The Ones”

“Change The World”

These songs leave me feeling inspired and invigorated and I hope that when and if you’re feeling despair, it will do the same for you. Yes we can!

NPR (National Public Radio) did the lipstick on a pig story tonight. They played the whole segment of Obama using the phrase and it is clear he is talking about McCain and his policies not Palin.
They then played segments where the same phrase is used by several politicians, including McCain, Cheney and and other. Finally they went live to a farmer out in his field full of pigs and had the farmer put lipstick (Ruby Red) on a pig. They reported that it mainly goes on the snout of the pig and after all is said and done the pig is still a pig. Story link is below and should be up with the audio link in about half an hour.

Looking at the comments from the story in the Fairbanks Daliy News-Miner re: SP’s return home (thanks to Rhet O’Rical for the post) and this one – in reference to her speech at the convention – jumped out at me:

“Not even Republicans can dispute that she’s lying. She just walks out on stage and says things that contradict well-documented, objective facts. That’s not called spin or opinion, it’s called LYING. The real question for you guys is, why is it okay when Sarah Palin lies about policy, but wrong when Bill Clinton lies about his personal life?

Personally, I think they’re both wrong. But I’m puzzled by the reaction to Palin’s obvious lies. It’s like she walks out on stage saying 2+2=5, and the audience goes wild because addition is for elitists. Apparently, so is telling the truth.”

I think the McCain/Palin Drill Here Drill Now people should clarify just what is going to happen to all that oil they insists will lower prices at the pump.

1. Any new drilling will take some years to realize the results from.
2. All the American oil that is drilled goes on the world market and is then BOUGHT BACK at world oil prices.
3. No one (that’s us REGULAR FOLK) will see any benefit to more drilling except the oil companies and those that stand to make a profit.

Perhaps the Obama/Biden team should make this clarification public for them. Regular folks seem to think our oil is actually OUR OIL! LOL

If we can agree to nothing else today, can we at least agree to agree on wanting Peace in our life time?

I admit I speak through a faith based voice, I hope it is spiritual and not religious, but I often have thoughts not as kind as I’d like them to be. All that being said, I know that there are people of all faiths that want peace. Some of us get together here: http://www.faithvoices.org/

Faith Voices seeks to educate the wider public about the shared values, issues, and ethical concerns of spiritual people and their organizations. It enhances community interconnections among its diverse member organizations to coordinate efforts to educate others about major social issues. We make use of a powerful new technology, Synanim, an internet system that educates through dialogue and collaborative creation of ideas.

Through our unique technologies and activities, we help our membership contribute to the renewal of American democratic life through education and knowledge.

Hard Road Home
In February 2008, Faith Voices organized the Bay Area Premiere of Hard Road Home a searing documentary about Julio Medina, a drug-dealing gang leader sentenced to Sing Sing prison. Julio served 12 years and emerged a changed man. He created Exodus Transitional Community, an amazing program run by people formerly incarcerated and dedicated to breaking the downward cycle of recidivism.

As a CA native, I’ll take earthquakes any day, even over tornados let alone over hurricanes. We get hundreds and thousands of quakes that do no harm. Only the biggest ones make the news, and they can definitely do major damage. But most don’t even warrant an, “Oh, we’re having an earthquake.” A lot of the time you don’t know if it was a quake or a sonic boom unless you see something (a sign, a light fixture) swaying.

I live in tornado alley… and in a spot where we occasionally get mild earthquakes. We’re due for a huge one though.

But I’d take the tornadoes over hurricanes, earthquakes, and blizzrds any day. As long as you pay attention to the weather, you are pretty safe. Never completely safe, but not bad odds considering.

That said, I think the the Truth squad that are from the hurricane states should get their butts back home ans support their people instead of the Lipsticked Pitbull.

Just a repost to keep all reminded of what we are voting FOR:

These are from ACTUAL McCAIN VOTES in the Senate where he opposes positions favored by the MAJORITY OF AMERICANS.

1. 70% of Public thinks invading Iraq was a MISTAKE, but McCain sides with Bush and votes to invade.
2. 70% of Americans think oil companies are too greedy and that is why they are paying more at the pump, but McCain wants to adopt Big Oil plans to drill, drill, drill for MORE PROFITS. REMEMBER, we’re not a socialist country (looks like we’re headed the OTHER way), so the only profits to be made are from Exxon, etc, and the coffers for the Lobbyist who will sway your President’s vote.
3. 70% of Americans do NOT want to invade Iran, but McCain says bomb, bomb, bomb Iran and votes for Kyl-Lieberman saber-rattling.
4. 75% of Americans FAVOR ratifying Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, but McCain sides with Bush and votes against it.
5. 60% of Americans believe workers should have a right to organize into a union, but McCain sides with Bush and votes against it.
6. 70% of Americans favor INCREASING financial aid for college and McCain bucked his party and lost that senate vote 78-18
7. Most Americans are AGAINST fraud in Iraq contracts and want more oversight, but McCain sided with Bush and voted against more oversight.
8. Most Americans believe gun makers should be liable for making defective guns and McCain bucked his party and lost that vote 90-8.
9. Most Americans FAVOR energy assistance to low income people, and McCain buscked his party and lost that vote 94-3
10. Most Americans FAVOR children’s healthcare, just like they do for seniors, and McCain sided with Bush and lost that vote 68-31, and this would have become law with 10 more votes in the house to sustain an over-ride of Bush’s veto.

CUFI Endorsement of John McCain for President: http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/blog/2008/02/update_cufi.html

Pastor John Hagee stated:
“the United States must join Israel in a pre-emptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God’s plan for both Israel and the West… a biblically prophesied end-time confrontation with Iran, which will lead to the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming of Christ.”.

John Hagee, along with other Christian Evangelical leaders, created Christians United for Israel (CUFI) less than two years ago, yet it has already grown into one of the largest and most politically influential Christian grassroots organizations in the country.

“When 50 million evangelical bible-believing Christians unite with five million American Jews standing together on behalf of Israel, it is a match made in heaven.”
http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/10052007/profile.html

CUFI has hosted calls with Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Sallai Meridor, Senator Joe Lieberman, and Israel’s former Ambassador to the United Nations Dore Gold.

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/05/27/lieberman-to-speak-at-cufi-event-hagee-must-still-be-moses/

When it comes to Pastor John Hagee, John McCain and Joe Lieberman have a lot in common. Both men addressed the 2007 convention of Hagee’s organization, Christians United for Israel (CUFI). McCain and Lieberman each voiced support for a pre-emptive strike against Iran. But while John McCain aggressively sought Hagee’s endorsement, only Joe Lieberman compared the Texas pastor to Moses. And judging by his agreement to speak at CUFI’s upcoming 2008 conference, Joe Lieberman still believes it.

How many people are on an emotional rollercoaster with respect to this presidential election?

I am going crazy — feeling good, feeling depressed, feeling good, etc.

Watching the whole lipstick thing and that dishonorable sex education ad that McCain ran — I started to feel good.

But then I see comments by other people on other sites and things on TV on how women are flocking to Sarah Palin in droves — I start to get depressed again.

Then I start thinking “What if” about Hillary Clinton as VP. I get depressed.

Then I start thinking about how unfair it was for McCain to be able to pick his VP after Obama. I get angry.

Maybe I am the only one who feels this way. Anyone else worried about this election because of the pick of Sarah Palin?

Yeah, ABC was very good tonight. Basically said it was McCain that was creating these false issues. played audio of Jane Swift talking about Obama calling SP a pig, showed vid of a congresswoman complaining about it. But they first showed Obama making his case yesterday, and said Obama talked for half an hour without mentioning Sarah Palin, and then played 3 video clips of John McCain calling Hillary’s health care plan a pig with lipstick.

very satisfactory. Who knows, maybe Gibson will even ask Sarah Palin a real question.

Yes ABC did do a good job on the Lipstick story. They also did a good job this morning on the book ban – library story. Both NBC with Lisa Myers, and ABC with Brian Ross (their investigative reporters) seem to be trying to get to the truth on some of the issues. Just hope old Charlie can continue the trend but I’m not holding my breath.

I can’t watch too much of the regular networks anymore. Since MI is one of the battle ground states we are being bombarded with TV ads. They run one right after another, McCain then Obama then McCain then Obama often 4 in a row. I have to switch to PBS or turn off the TV and listen to NPR.

For the record, there are LOTS of savvy disaffected (registered) Republicans. I am one. Republicans are not a monolithic group, just as Democrats are not. We come in all stripes.

My primary complaint about the populace is the “rah rah rah, go team go” mentality, as through rooting for a sports team. Look up the Hegelian Dialectic to learn the philosophy behind the two-party system (that THEY created) that is used to control us.

Come November I will be writing in my choice — the Constitution Party candidate.

By the way, the McCain commercial with wolves is a tired rehash of the Bush ad in 2004. More of the same . . .

Susie in Jersey (12:12:19) :

I enjoyed the post quoting Deepak Chopra and read it as Palin is a failure at living a virtuous life, knows it and can’t deal with it, therefore she feels she needs to strike out at those who have made a success of their lives.

I truly believe that Sarah Palin WILL self-destruct before too much longer, now that she has been exposed to the world.
—————————————-
Likewise for me. She has no spiritual insight into herself whatsoever. As the stress gets to her in the campaign, look for repeating patterns. Her and McCain being together, then apart. She sent her son and daughter away when there was family trouble. It seems to me that she cannot bear prolonged situations that bother her. She lashes out at things. Her whole role in this insane election campaign is to lash out. The fact that the press cannot even speak with her on the record on her own plane while traveling is very telling. Could anyone here really function in a situation where you know you are in over your head? Like you are supposed to play Keith Richards chops at a Rolling Stones concert and you have never played a guitar before? To get those kinds of chops you have to have been playing guitar for years. You have to have started out years and years ago in a garage band and played endless clubs and gigs to get those chops. As the VP debate gets near how could any rational person here ever stand that stress if you knew you were totally not prepared? I think this is going to reach nightmare proportions for her. If it doesn’t then she truly is a deluded psychopath. And if she actually IS elected Vice President of the United States or becomes President of the United States how will she EVER function without being put on medication? How?

I actually CAN play guitar and I would not be looking forward to having to fill in for Keith Richards doing this in thirty days. I’m not at the Keith Richards level! And Ronnie Wood either! And I fully admit it!

Even if Karl Rove has her locked in her house in Wasilla on per diem pay from the RNC with a Fretlight Guitar (http://www.fretlight.com/) she ain’t going to have those chops in time.

Wouldn’t anyone here have thought about that BEFORE taking the VP gig in the World Tour on The Bus?

[[As a CA native, I’ll take earthquakes any day, even over tornados let alone over hurricanes. We get hundreds and thousands of quakes that do no harm. Only the biggest ones make the news, and they can definitely do major damage. But most don’t even warrant an, “Oh, we’re having an earthquake.” A lot of the time you don’t know if it was a quake or a sonic boom unless you see something (a sign, a light fixture) swaying.]]

Palmdale, ITA. We get to recognize the type of earthquake after awhile, and can even make a pretty good guess how far away it is. I personally like the rolling earthquakes better than the strike-slip ones. I think there is less damage with the rollers, too, but if it’s a long earthquake there is more damage no matter what kind it is.

I visited family in Oklama for the first time as an adult. My exhusband, our daugter and I drove from CA to OK nonstop, and got there about 8:00 at night. The last 50 miles we had heard about tornadoes going through OK. We walked in to my aunt’s house and they were watching a ball game on TV! I asked, “Why aren’t you watching the tornado watch!?” and they looked at me like I was a nut.

Yet nearly every person I met i OK said the equivalent of “How can you live in California with all those earthquakes!”

Me, I like earthquakes. It’s not just YOUR house that gets wiped out. If your place goes, chances are the whole city (at least) goes with you. It’s more eglaritarian.

There is something very finger-of-God-ish about tornadoes. I would not be pleased if my house was destroyed by a tornado but not my neighbors. Not that I wish my neighbors ill or anything, but, dang, it just doesn’t seem fair.

I agree that she will probably self destruct. Not to mention that her family is bound to crumble around her. We know she threw Bristol and baby daddy into the national spotlight, and Track as well. If there is any truth to these latest rumors this is clearly a family that had some healing to do. I can’t imagine they won’t fall down. Let’s just hope she doesn’t have the chance to take us all down too.

Intrigued – you are my kind of bud!! I am an independent. Neither of the candidates from the major parties that I felt could represent me made it to the final two. I had to really step back and start looking at the records, how they campaign with the results they garner, which would be better for us from a global perspective, etc. I was trying to remain undecided until McCain’s acceptance speech. But I couldn’t. I just couldn’t.

1) McCain’s voting is abysmal against women, children, and social issues
2) McCain really hasn’t stood up for the economy the way he COULD have
3) McCain has alienated a lot of our former global friends. I’m tired of the COLD WAR talk. The world is just too small now.
4) McCain is now officially aligned with a Far Right group that believes a pre-emptive strike on Iraq will start the Armageddon. WHAT???!!!!??? True statement, and there are a lot of posts to that point.
5) McCain has voted with Bush 90% of the time and that, to me, is not a mandate for change.
6) McCain had better commonsense judgment selecting Biden as his VP. Although Sarah Palin is an interesting choice, she no more has the experience than I do. . . in fact, to toot my horn, I think I could definitely be better in the financials side.
7) McCain is trying to kill my Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We’ve gone over that a lot here as well – the demise of the Habeas Corpus, the Supreme Court overturn with a statement like “….likening back to before the Magna Carta…”
8) Keating Five, adultery, etc, etc.

I knew nothing of Sarah Palin when she was nominated so I have tried to do as much research as possible. MUDFLATS is my hero!!!! There is documentation for each of the arguments presented. I can’t stand for someone who goes from $0 debt when they go into the mayor’s office and walks out with $22MM debt. I can’t stand someone just out and out lying just because it “..sounds good..” and frankly, I personally don’t think she is the kind of example I want for my daughters and young sisters to have as a role model.

I clearly know that Obama is not perfect. Neither is Biden. I was slow to come over, but their platform at the end of the day won me. It’s specific. It’s upfront.

Susie: I agree with you. They can ‘pretend’ she has all the experience in the world but the truth is she is a small-town nobody has NO political experience at all. If she was from any other state in this union with this resume I doubt she could not have been elected dog-catcher, let alone mayor, let alone governor. She is so out of her league and her ‘pretty’ face is getting real old real fast as she keeps reading that same canned speech over and over and over again, telling the same bull-shit, completely debunked lie. And the said part is, that is really all she can do because she is so totally and completely out of her league and they are so afraid of her opening her uneducated mouth she isn’t even allowed to talk reporters sharing a plane ride with her.

She is a petty, vindictive, overly ambitious social climber and I think the most telling peek into her soul is one of the first recorded lies we know about – her little lie to Todd about going to Costco when she really went gaze at the wonderous Ivana Trump because as she so wishfully put it, “we are so desperate in Alaska for any semblance of glamour and culture.”’

I truly believe that deep in her soul she hates small-town Wassilla. She may have ‘picked’ salmon and slaughtered moose but I bet given a choice she much rather be getting expensive manicures and body wraps at a luxury spa somewhere. I think she saw this political gig as her way out. She obviously has no admirable aspirations about making this country a better place. She just wants to make herself better at the expense of everyone else.

She may be a lot of things but the word that I think describes her more than any other is pathetic.

ProudTBUSA — Thanks for the warm welcome and your detailed post.🙂

The list of McCain’s cons is fatter than a NYC phone book!!

I’m glad that you found a maJor party ticket that you can enthusiastically support. However, I can never vote for Obama-Biden because both Obama and Biden, like McCain, are CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) members. The CFR supports creation of the NAU (North American Union), which will merge the U.S. with Canada and Mexico and DESTROY U.S. SOVEREIGNTY. I
saw a video on YouTube of one of Obama’s Town Hall meetings. An audience member asked him about his position on the NAU, and OBAMA FEIGNED IGNORANCE (the worst acting I have ever seen) as if he had no idea what it was even called, DESPITE HIS HAVING WRITTEN AN OP-ED PIECE SUPPORTING IT!!

Creation of an NAU is TREASONOUS!! Many brave Americans lost their lives and limbs for this country, and they did NOT do it in vain for some “NAU!”

As a patriotic American and conservative, there is no way I could vote for any of them. Baldwin is anti-NAU and also pledges to secure our borders, so he gets my vote.

@ Intrigued —

While I respect your right to vote for whomever you want, what would concern me more than a possible NAU is the further dissolution of the US’s standing around the globe… which will only continue if McCain takes office.

I guess what I’m saying is, I think something like the N. American Union is probably not high on the priority list of the top two candidates (though maybe I’m wrong in assuming that, i don’t know, obviously), while confronting other issues like the economy and War in Iraq are much more immediate. It also seems to me that NAU would take quite a while to put into play, if it ever passed Congress in the first place. You seem to be more informed than me, though — is it like that much of an immediate threat?

Is the NAU the only reason you won’t vote for Obama/Biden?

**NEWSFLASH FROM A DIE-HARD REPUBLICAIN**
A DEAR DEAR friend. We can talk politics and just laugh about it. Here are the talking points:

Republican: So would you rather NOT have a pre-emptive strike in Iran and then have a nuclear missile hit NYC?

Me: HUH? What is it with you Republicans? Everything is war, war, war! I would RATHER negotiate a world treaty with China, Russia, USA and the European Union so we would be working TOGETHER on some of these issues. The only reason we get in this trashtalk with Iran is because extremists start talking about their, uh, missiles, being bigger than the others.

Me: Why do you think we should go it alone all the time with our military? We are too thin, and no longer (thanks to your Prez, nudge, nudge) have the funding to support this.

Republican: oh, come ON. The world is a dangerous place. You know Iran is hiding terrorists.

Me: ….Like Iraq was hiding WMD?

Republican: You know they had the WMD?

Me: ???? (speechless – crickets) NO, I don’t, and neither did the United Nations. Why is it the Republicans just bray incessently about a governor with 18 months experience and someone who really didn’t “not support” the bridge to nowhere, sold that plane on ebay, stoked debt from zero to $22M?

Republican: WHAT? She’s great! You women. You will never be happy, She’s great. She has a good record. She’s a reformer. She’s eloquent (me – swigging doubles at this point) and she will make a great VP.

Me: You’ve drunk the Kool-Aid. When Armageddon is upon us, and we are living in the bleak nuclear winter, will you THEN admit that you are wrong?

Republican: Never.

Me (by now Why haven’t you captured Osama bin Laden? Why are you declaring victory with the Iraqi Surge? Do you agree with the suspending of my bill of rights? Do you think it was okay for the RNC to show that god-awful 9/11 film (btw I lost a college roommate). Why, why, why?

Republican: Can we talk about the stock market instead?

Me: Why yes, we can! WHY did the Republican “regime” decide not to do anything when they first knew about the deterioation of the markets in late 2003? Why did you wait until the meltdown at the end of 2005?

Republican: Oh dear. I need to go now.

Me: Tata my dear. Why don’t you come to dinner Saturday night? You might learn a couple of things.

GGGGGRRRRRRRR!!!!! What is it that they do to these people? Do they put some kind of chip in their heads at night????????????????????????/

PsychRights Sues State of Alaska to Stop Its Massive, Harmful Psychiatric Drugging of Alaskan Children

The Press Release is here : http://psychrights.org/PR/080902PsychRightsvAlaskaNR.pdf
September 2, 2008

The lawsuit is here :
http://psychrights.org/states/Alaska/PsychRightsvAlaska/PsychRightsvAlaskaKidDruggingComplaint.pdf

PsychRights Sues State of Alaska to Stop Its Massive, Harmful Psychiatric Drugging of Alaskan Children

The Law Project for Psychiatric Rights is a public interest law firm devoted to the defense of people facing the horrors of unwarranted forced psychiatric drugging and electroshock. PsychRights is further dedicated to exposing the truth about psychiatric interventions and the courts being misled into ordering people subjected to these brain and body damaging drugs against their will. Extensive information about these dangers, and about the tragic damage caused by electroshock, is available on the PsychRights web site: http://psychrights.org/.

With all due respect, Laurie, I suggest that you Google what Harper et al have been up to. Start with the SPP (“Security and Prosperity Partnership”), the first tri-national agreement that was signed. (Harper signed it on behalf of Canada.) Reps of the three countries have been meeting on a regular basis ever since, furthering their agenda.

The people of Canada seem to have the same “mainstream media blackout” on this subject that we have down here. However, some Canadians have protested in the streets. Connie Fogel’s party (Canadian Action Party, I think) has been VERY outspoken about it. Likewise in Mexico. Thank God for the Internet and the LEAKED DOCUMENTS. At any rate, those who know what is going on are strongly opposed to it. The PEOPLE of the three countries DO NOT WANT THIS. It’s the Powers That Be doing this in “stealth.” And therein lies another large part of the problem…

I’d take a tornado any day of the week over a hurricane. A tornado is concentrated and can affect a town. A hurricane can affect a state.

OT: I used to live on the coast of Miss., not far from N.O. After seeing the Bush response, and patting Brownie on the back and saying he’s doing a heck of a job, I refused to support any GOP candidate for life. Folks were asking for help and because TPS reports weren’t filed, the Feds hands were tied. Aid should have been there as soon as they knew it was gonna hit or be close. Unacceptable. And to think – I’ll be duped by a cute Siren in heels? Yeah, right. No, sir. She isn’t fooling this dude.

The following is a post I made on another board which is loaded with Limbaugh Republicans.

The post is in respone to discussion about the assertion that Jesus was a communiy organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor.

The GOPers have tried many ways to refute this simple claim. The latest one today was that Jesus was a carpenter. I thought about it awhile, and wrote the following post.

It wasn’t until I proofed it that I realized how many times I used the word “change.”

————

I think it’s sad that you deny one of the major roles Jesus had in his (relatively) short time on earth: that of being a community organizer. I’m a Buddhist, and I don’t personally believe that Jesus was God, part of God, or whatever. I do believe that he was a profoundly inspired Messiah, and his short time on earthy changed society and history in a major way.

And how did he do it? Simply by walking the land, speaking to groups of people, and inspiring them to change. That is exactly what a community organizer does.

Jesus preached socialist values, and encouraged his listeners to take care of each other, look out for each other. The story of the sharing of the fish is another socialist parable, where one person gave up their food and the strength of that sacrifice for the public good led to changes that fed the entire group.

Jesus encouraged his listeners, just by who he was, to change…to turn from their old ways, risk the wrath of Pontius Pilate (and later governors, both in Jeruselum and, later, throughout the region, finally the world), to do the right thing, to take care of each other, and to work for changes that would bring a better tomorrow for EVERYBODY, not just themselves.

Jesus was perhaps the best community organizer our world has ever experienced, and his example shows us the kinds of changes (but certainly not the magnitde that Jesus did) that we, as community organizers, can make in our society.

For you to say Jesus was just a carpenter is really not true. My father was a carpenter and, come to think of it, he was very active in union organizing activities, and my Dad was a good man….but a carpenter, even a good man who is a carpenter, is in no way what Jesus was to the world.

Pontius Pilate was, what? A toady to the Roman Emperor. No vision. No leadership. Just brute strength and ruling by fear and cruelty. Pontius Pilate worked to maintain the status quo. He wanted to continue the old rules and laws that were so hard on the people of Jeruselum. He worked against change, and he did it in the most vicious ways.

When you think of it, Pontius Palin really is an accurate name for Palin.

Hi Sarah,

The NAU has been in the works for a few years now. The Executive branch has been forging “agreements” and bypassing the Legislative branch (Congress). The Reagan administration did its part, then Clinton administration, and then GWB’s. (This is a BI-PARTISAN agenda.)

The “official” march toward the NAU began with a tri-national agreement called the SPP (“Security and Prosperity Partnership”). Please read up on it, although I have to warn you that it will both scare the wits out of you and piss you off! once you see what they have been up to. (They have their puppets in Congress too, both Democrats and Republicans.)

Is that the only reason I won’t vote for Obama? Can’t answer that, and here’s why: It is ENOUGH of a reason for me to not even bother researching Obama any further. With all of the spin, lies by omission, half-truths, and outright LIES that are slung back and forth in campaigns (and this one seems particularly nasty), I am fairly certain that Obama has probably been portrayed unfairly. However, his pro-NAU stance precludes my ever casting a vote for him, so I haven’t even bothered to research him any further.

Proud 2B.. you made me laugh with your little me and the republican message above.. I have similar events, ‘cept they are relatives.. lately I have been trying a new tactic… it makes them crazy. OBVIOUSLY I am not going to change my mind, so I stay serenely cool. I rarely make statements to them- I just ask them questions over and over, well, what about the fiscal health of Wasilla? Did you see that it was more in debt after her tenure? (and when they get all defensive) can you tell me your source for that information? I would loooovvvee to look it up and be sure I only have the facts…

when you ask them to cite their sources, they can’t. I can.

“Well- you ppl (them to me) say she wanted to ban books- that is a lie.”
Me- Yes- it is troubling when mis information gets out. OF COURSE she did not actually BAN the books.. but she did enquire numerous times about removing them or censoring therm and threatened to fire the librarian. I know that is not “banning” to you- but it is too close for MY comfort zone about freedom of the press/speech etc. AND, BTW here is the cite for the ANchorage newspaper and Frontiersman which reported the incident AT THE TIME, not later…

Just keep smiling (it makes them crzy) and just speak in facts and ask them for their sources.. emotion crumbles in the light of hard truth…

Love these mudpuppies!!!

http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1835238,00.html

how he goes from being an ’empty suit’, ‘all talk’ etcetc to ‘more head than heart, more intellectual than passionate’ is a great example of how people
only see what they want to see.

one other point for today, there is a video piece in the WSJ today which is a very short interview with Warren Buffett. He says that he has been talking with Obama quite a lot (he calls him Barack) and that his view is that he is a very very intelligent guy who is more than capable of running the country.

if you know anything about Buffett, he only buys businesses when he believes that the people running the business are excellent managers and clearly, he has a track record to show that he has the judgement for that analysis.

Oh, my watching Larry King live, now I wonder why I let my son watch Chuck Norris. I see now why he joined the marines straight out of high school. As a Peace advocate I had a hard time with that one, but loved and supported my son and prayed all five years he was in the service. He now has seen more of war and the military than his ever wanted to see and openly admits that his main reason for going into the marines was first because we wouldn’t let him play with guns and to get enough points to go to college. Seeing the world was kind of high on his list to, but we were not in a war when he enlisted. He did end up doing two tours one in Saddie. Now he talks of how many $$$ the milatary, not only spends but wastes and how hard it was on the guys in saddie knowing that the missles that were dropping on him were ones that we sold to them. He was mad that we didn’t finish the job then so the Hawks could later use it as an excuse to go after the old barrens again. He remind me when you control all oil on the planet you can charge anything you want for it. So sending our sons to defend/make that take over the oil fields is the hidden goal behind going into make the invading any country that has it or will not give it to us.

Get real people the whole reason they don’t go after Bin Laden is he isn’t sitting on an oil field any more. Oh, sure they will pull a few good men, make that your sons and daughter out of one hot spot and send them to another but those decisions are more about arms deals and oil futures than freedom and peace or for the care of people. Follow the money, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and can’t even imagine how much was spent on arms and military war games today. Haven’t you got it yet we have a War Department and now Peace Department. Now when your children come home how much help do they get or for that matter while their gone how much help are they getting with their families at home. If there is a program set up to address this issue you have to push it through as an EarMark fund. So when M?P talk about cuttiing EarMarks smile sweetly and say thanks we really need that, but what I would really like is to see our children working to help the folks in the natural disasters that are happening all over the planet notice I didn’t say global warming disasters, because we also will not be getting much money going to study what really is causing these things, Gods Will, I don’t think so! True Landry’s story – you know what you have to do to get a roll. You raise your hand. This middle-aged woman, with her girlfriends, was rather giddy and raised her hand. The attendant grabbed one of those hot rolls and hummed it at her. It hit her head, left a buttery mark and bounced into her friend’s plate. That place is a trip. I really miss the Coast.

Besides – when he goes to rallies be himself, a few hundred. With Pretty Azz Palin? Thousands. I took the chance to point out that is doesn’t seem fair he is told to pull himself up and rehabilitate himself, yet can’t the assistance he needs to do such…I saw a way in and talked to him for a while about it. He went from saying the MSM is throwing “her” under the bus to questioning wtf his ticket is really all about. I guess this is how I do it. Thanks for all you have given. **pulls sleeves up**

I’ve been a democrat my whole life. I had been living in France for a year just in time to move back to the US to vote for Gore in 2000 and was devastated when Bush ended up in the White House. Of course, I voted for Kerry in 2004 and wanted to crawl into a hole. How could America be so stupid?! I am so disappointed with the Bush administration I could lose my lunch on my keyboard. Enough!

If, GOD-FORBID, McCain ends up in the White House in Jan. ’09, my husband and I will leave this country to raise our young daughter in Europe. Women would not be safe in the US. ‘Nuff said.

The only republicans I know are my aunt&uncle who are part of the wealthiest 1%. There’s absolutely no point in discussing the issues with them. I’ve ignored my aunt’s fwd emails trashing Obama and dems in general. Oh, well.

My question is for all of you republicans turned Obama supporters. If you feel so passionately about social justices that you call yourselves MudPals, how could you ever have been or ever voted republican? Are you also in the 1%? Just curious…

So Governor Palin’s plane has just landed, CNN breathlessly reports. There is a shot of the open door. This was labeled “breaking news.”

She’s morphed into a combination of Princess Di and O.J. Simpson.

Turning off the news now. Retiring to bed with bottle of sherry.

Putting Country First — Voting for Obama

Thank you, Alaska Women Reject Palin.

I recently encountered a new group, Women Against Sarah Palin. This is an excerpt from the e-mail I received about this group:

Therefore, we invite you to reply here with a short, succinct message about why you, as a woman living in this country, do not support this candidate as second-in-command for our nation.

Thank you Mudflats!!!!!

whabs,
“When he called Palin a bimbo”
he didn’t call palin a bimbo he called cindy mccain a bimbo for cindy’s comments that palin has foreign policy experience because alaska is next to russia. as far as your overall sentiment about shultz, i have the feeling we would agree. although i listen to him he doesn’t resonate with me as much as say rachel maddow does. but, one thing that we lack on the left are people like ed. so i think he appeals to those who would be more inclined to listen to rush except they have a soul. not everyone is super cerebral or even awake enough to listen to more than bullet points–do you know what i’m saying? right now we are engaged in a serious “tug-o-war game” and ed, for the most part, is on our side. and he’s big and lumbering and outspoken and maybe even a little unrefined. he probably should have said something more along the lines of “that was an idiotic statement” but he didn’t and he got a lot of attention for what he did say. who knows maybe that’s going to end up being a good thing in the long run.

Hello people,
What other sites should I attempt to get this information out to.
Where are you guys sending your posts?
Is it mainly to family and friends?
Also how do I get visitors to my blog with this and other info that
I am posting on it. (just got into blogging so still a trying to figure this stuff
out)

I am convinced that just because so many people attend Palin/McCain rallies, it doesnt mean that they will vote for her. She is a novelty in my book. All of the info coming out in the press…and lets face it. McCains camp made her into what they hate the most…a celebrity.

Good people can be interested in seeing her….smart people can be interested. Its like not being able to turn away from a train wreck. Humans are curious about the newest thing out there.

I have much faith in my American friends this election. Barack Obama WILL be the next president of the United States.

Hi again,
I just found this on one of the MSNBC blogs, This is a post from a Col. in the army.

” Dear concerned citizens of America and mass media of the U.S.A.

As a concerned disabled American Veteran and American citizen, I
consider it my duty and responsibility to address the following
critical issues facing the voters of our Greatgrand nation, the
United States of America [USA].

The citizens of the United States of America [USA] have the ultimate
power and responsibility to elect the Right Ticket with the right
joint “temperament, judgement, and statesmanship” to lead our nation
as well as change our nation’s present and future moral, political,
economic, educational, health care, energy, military, and
foundational soul.
In my firm professional, personal, and political opinion, the media
should help the common voter to explore and discuss the following
attributes of the present Republican and Democratic presidential
slates:
1. Does the joint ticket have a calm, cool, and collected ” temper
and impulse” [Presidential Temperament]?
2. Does each ticket have sound and sustained “Judgment and Caliber”?
3. Does each ticket have a “presidential depth and degree” in regard
to their purpose, policies, and positions?
4. Does each ticket have adequate, “understanding and knowledge” of
workings around Washington”?
5. Does each ticket have enough “vigor, wisdom and Vision” for the
future of our beloved Great-grand Nation?
6. Does each ticket possess enough joint foreign policy experience
and exposure based on “American Values, Virtues, Vastness, and strong
soul”?
7. Are their campaign talk, slogans, ads, plans, and programs based
on facts and are they free of fear, fiction, frivolous labels, unfair
attacks, negativity, and impulsivity? [Danger to country and countries
mission[s].
8. Does the ticket keep country or politics first? [McCain stole
Obama’s change and is running with it.]

As a Independent registered voter I have decided to vote for the
Obama-Biden ticket. I am sure they will protect our national
security, strengths, stamina and soul as well as rebuild our nation
from the bottom up in all areas of need. The OBAMA-BIDEN ticket will
restore our global standing with the use of maximum, firm
international diplomacy and minimal force if and when indicated.

Yours sincerely,

COL. A.M. Khajawall [Ret] MD., Forensic psychiatrist, Colonel, US-AR
/ MC Combat Stress Control[Ret], Disabled American Veteran and Iraq
Freedom team.

PS: This nation will not buy into the kitchen sink strategy. We are
getting deeper into internal and external holes through these attacks
and the world is laughing at us as they enjoy our partisan Pitt Bull
wounds. I am sure the collective deceptive measures of the GOP, RNC,
FOX, RUSH, ROVE, McCain, and his surrogates will fail to deprive
American voters of their deserved leadership. Media stop cultural
divide and wars.

COL. A.M.Khajawall [Ret] (Sent Wednesday, September 10, 2008 6:02 PM)

Sheesh… I’m not even on the right and I can answer that… Those that were republican voted republican because they believed in the old republican values… less government… Fortunately some of them have seen other lights… less government is not a bad thing… but two wars, high unemployment, massive foreclosures, high fuel and food costs, lower standard of living… Those are bad things… As Reagan said… “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” I don’t know about you, but I’m not.

I’m very happy that some republicans are with us… better late than never !!!

Don’t get me wrong, obama/biden’08… You have asked a good question… But, please don’t question why republicans may be with us… They have figured out what is really up as well… Let’s hope more do as well.

Watching Obama on David Letterman, I just can’t tell you how proud I am of him. He is certainly what I want to see leading the us in the next 8 yrs. I’ll stand behind this young man any day. He is going where I want to see this great nation going. Please, Please, Please get behind him today.

Those of you who know how to make those great U2vido’s can buy local TV and cable time in small towns all over the country for as little as a few bucks a shot. If a few of you get together with your friends, have a yardsale or just ask your friends to chip in you can run your spots and make a big difference. Changing a red state to blue might not take that much. Just think of your friends and what having McWar in office for the next 4/8 years will mean and let others know how you feel. Take it from the Peaceful Granny, that would be me, I see so much talent out there, Please, Please, Please don’t waste it.

jeremy — if you had read every post on this site and still came to the conclusion that bloggers are hurting obama — then i suggest you read them again.

it should take you at least 20-30 hours. which is what many of us on this site have easily spent ourselves.

this blog represents the awakening of not only alaskans but the rest of the country and parts continental to our commonality of the most deepest concern for the well-being of the united states of america and our place and responsibility to restore the hope for all humankind that a powerful nation can and will be a healing nation first and foremost…..

……an example of what has and will continue to be a melting pot of the world’s cultures and yet creates a uniqueness that is what we call proud to be an american.

this is our time to not be fooled – not be bamboozled – to do our own fact checking – our own vetting – to turn away from video PR and blatant lies wrapped up in fearmongering and all the other crap the rove-ettes can imagine.

this is the time to just flat be responsible for the title US Citizen.

Sorry, I don’t mean to rain on S’s homecoming party, but I’ve been doing some reading on links post above, and just had to ask, “is it realy true that the town of W had 160+ rapes last year?”

No wonder they don’t want to pay for rape kits. I can see that could be a hardship on the police departments budget, but my real concern is sex ed classes aside hasn’t any one ever told the men in that town when a girl or a woman just says no, she means it?

@ intrigued

I don’t really subscribe to any political party. My view is to question all politicians, policies, and parties. My guiding rule is to uphold the Constitution, which sometimes means acknowledging arguments on all sides of the aisle. And I am with you on the CFR and NAU. Bush’s bypassing of congress to push this agenda forward is haunting and treacherous, to say the least. But come election day, I will be voting for Obama. Why? If your assessment of Obama and McCain should prove to be true:

1) Undeniably, many more people have been awakened by this election. If Obama loses, I believe that people will become disengaged and too broken to participate in the monitoring of our government. If Obama wins, I believe a good amount of people will continue to be engaged in politics.

2) The NAU plans have been long in the making, but on the fast track in the last few years. I believe that an Obama nomination will slow this momentum, because I believe that America is the major broker in this deal, and they would like to be in a better place financially.

3) The internet. Under McCain, the freedoms of the internet will disappear, and quickly. Obama has no choice but to allow the internet to run a bit freer, at least for a while. This is the best medium to keep talking about these issues, and losing the ability to communicate to others over the internet means losing everything.

4) McCain is completely incompetent, and probably mentally ill (not trying to be mean). I’ll take my chances with Obama.

My dad was missing many teeth because he marched in the Civil Rights movement. I was disenfranchised from voting in 2004; with a valid voter ID and Driver’s license in hand. For me, this is not the year to cast a protest vote. If casting vote for Obama means buying four more years me to speak truth to power, then so be it.

Thanks for your honesty and candidness in your previous posts. I hope you travel to the end of this thread and find this message!

For me, it is practical.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I live in Florida (transplanted New Yorker). We’ve got 2 kids in college. One is very active politically; volunteering for Obama’s campaign at UF. It’s great to see her and her friends enthusiasm. I think the “millennial” generation is going to play a huge role in this election. For the most part millennials have a very close relationship with their parents. This dynamic may come in to play this election. Whether it’s the kids swaying the parents or vice-versa. My daughter almost has my 76-year old mother, who proudly displays a photo of her and my father and then V.P. George Bush, Sr on her wall convinced to vote for Obama.

Watch Michael Moore’s new movie Slacker Uprising which comes out on September 23. It will be free to download.

Syt — I did indeed venture to the end so read your message! Thank you for your warmth; it brought a smile to my face. And it is so good to encounter someone here who knows about the NAU.

I understand your well-articulated points. Our experiences differ as do our opinions, especially on this:

“2) The NAU plans have been long in the making, but on the fast track in the last few years. I believe that an Obama nomination will slow this momentum, because I believe that America is the major broker in this deal, and they would like to be in a better place financially.”

Based on Obama’s aforementioned op-ed, I have a different impression. The piece that he wrote was strongly pro NAU. In addition, he is DISINGENUOUS, as (as stated before) he feigned ignorance when asked about the NAU by an audience member at a Town Hall meeting.

Rumor has it that their timeline has been pushed back because some light has been shed on their plan. How will they usher in the NAU? I imagine some “catastrophe” such as total collapse of the U.S. dollar (which seems imminent at the rate we are going) would do the trick. Then they would say that we “have to” merge in order to survive (without ever revealing that the plan has in fact been in effect for decades), and the citizens would buy the line.

I also took note of the intense discussion of Canada shale during the Senate’s energy hearings. I imagine they would use Canada’s energy stores as a selling point too (no secret if you look at the schedule of the Banff conference, which was energy-dominated).

Obama’s dishonesty and his CFR membership are enough for me. I will stick with Mr. Baldwin. At least when the sh!t hits the fan I will have a clear conscience.

Thanks for the exchange. 🙂

Let me just say this… I personally can’t stand all the Republican bashing… why??? Well, I love Lincoln… lol… so I really wish people would use the word CURRENT Republican Administration rather than saying things like, “all Republicans are … blah blah blah…”

But I digress… cause I recently started to blog… and I did this… http://gingerfires.wordpress.com/2008/09/11/gop-pundit-factory-produces-coulter-20-and-30/

It’s all about Ann Coulter, Nancy Pfotenhauer, and Kellyanne Conway… the anorexic bobbleheads out to save those who can’t stand the vagina.

Sarah Palin is digusting. Can I say that?

How did the women’s movement spawn so many bizarre creatures dedicated to burka submission?

@ Intruiged,

By now this entry is a few posts back, but I wanted to thank you for the exchange–refreshing indeed! I am happy to agree to disagree, and I respect yours views.

Though I agree that the introduction of the Amero might be introduced if the dollar is low, I still contend that the US wants to be the one with the most advantages in this deal. If our currency is still valued at such a low rate, joining with Canada and Mexico will not make our currency competitive on the world market. Couple that with the emergence of China and our increasing debt, I think the US won’t go for it quite yet. I also think that the NAFTA Superhighway will have to be established before any monetary merges were to occur.

That being said, and assuming that these plans continue to move forward, one of these men will be elected. I believe that if they do move forward, in an Obama admin it will be under the guise of prosperity and lulling the people into contentment. Under a McCain admin, it will be distracting people through another war, which will certainly lead to a faster track downhill. And, I’m not convinced that McCain’s mental health is up to snuff.

Thanks for talking!
