Hillary’s Mad…This Oughtta Be Good.

4 09 2008

When I heard, on Friday that Hillary Clinton had commented on the Palin nomination, I was ready for it. I’m not sure what I was expecting but when I heard her, I almost choked. I was expecting something forceful, something strong and assertive, something…well…Hillary. Instead was a lukewarm congratulations.

Gulp.

Perhaps Hillary was as much in shock as the rest of us, and needed a little time to regroup. I’ve been drumming my fingers, waiting for the regrouping to be complete, and honestly, I was starting to worry a little. The Clintons have the power to make people nervous. You never know quite what they’re up to. But the New York Times reported that Hillary’s miffed, and miffed big time.

Mrs. Clinton’s friends said she was galled that Ms. Palin might try to capitalize on a movement that Mrs. Clinton, of New York, built among women in the primaries.

Clinton advisers said they expected that a bloc of her female supporters would give Mr. McCain a second look because of Ms. Palin, and that Mrs. Clinton was probably Mr. Obama’s best weapon in response.

So back Hillary goes to the “Rust Belt” states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, presumably to talk some sense into the women who are considering a vote for Palin based upon matching body parts. I’d like to think that women as a collective are way smarter than that, but there’s no harm in bringing out the big gun if she’s willing and able.

Now, if the Republican Convention would hurry up and be over with, we can get on to the real campaigning. Obama/Biden, for the first time broke the 50% barrier in national polling, garnering an 8 point lead over McCain/Palin. The polls were taken over the weekend, so at least initially, the Palin pick showed no bounce. She may see a bouncelet after her acceptance speech last night. She speaks with energy, and sincerity, and as it has been said, “Sarah Palin will look you straight in the eye and tell you black is white.” She dazzled in comparison to the parade of wrinkly old white guys that preceded her, but the effect may not last through the media vetting, and the debate with Joe Biden. And there are many more scandals coming down the pike.

So Hillary, come out, come out, wherever you are!

While we are waiting for Hillary’s reply and looking at Sarah’s babybounce, let’s
ask the Gov. that cut spending on children’s program in AK where she stands on critically important issues to mothers. See and sign the letter at: http://www.momsrising.org/WhereDoesSheStand

Well, anyone with two neurons firing at the same time would have known that, if anything, McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin as VP candidate would alienate and thorough tick off Hillary’s supporters, even the ones who are now voting for Obama.

Hillary’s supporters wanted Hillary for president, not just any woman. In fact, as an Obama supporter I heard from many Hillary supporters that if Obama chose another woman as VP, there would be Armageddon.

To think that Hillary supporters–or women, in general–would vote for any woman is the typical clueless misogyny we see from the GOP. To say the GOP and John McCain are out of touch with women voters would be the understatement of the century.

As far as Hillary’s voters go, I think McCain picking Palin will do more to convince the diehard Hillary-only women voters to support Obama.

In my view she will work like the dickens now! They have really pissed her off!

And now it’s her legacy at stake!

This woman will come out like a tigress! It’s as if they have stolen her name and her accomplishments. And pasted them on a fake.

Nothing they could have done would have mobilized Hillary like she will now be mobilized.

(I say this as a total Obama supporter, who was won over by her speech last week at the convention.)

Go Hillary!!! Grab this for the Dems! Grab this and grab your destiny!

Hills will be out and her job is to get people off the couch to vote.

Her voters are some of them, but she can still appeal to the general
voter apathy that has lost elections in the past. There are more
registered Dems than Repubs in the US so getting them to cast their ballots
is key.

Anyone with friends who have a hard time voting because of work and kids
etc. Encourage them NOW to send for their absentee ballots. Help them do
this- download the info, fill out the form and have them sign it. Lick the stamp (well peel the stamp off the page) and provide the envelope. Do anything and everything you can to help your friends and family cast their
votes. I’m driving some people to the polls on 11/4 because they wouldn’t have a way there otherwise. This is another good way to help.
IF we can pull in more voters we have a good shot at this. Sounds a bit like community organizing only apparently to Mrs. Palin that doesn’t actually involve doing anything?

I get why you may want the TV off but watching this crap is actually a good

I agree with the posters who said that Clinton supporters were choosing her not for her gender but because she was felt to be the best person for the job. Regardless of what you think of Clinton, I guarantee you that she will come out swinging on this one — in the right way and at the right time. This is a lose-lose situation for McCain on every level. Besides it being a poor choice for more reasons than we can count, as a woman, I feel personally insulted by his pick. Palin should be afraid. Very afraid. We’ll see just WHO’S whining after this one.

Hillary should be mad, very mad. I know many women are mad that McCain would select a woman he doesn’t even know to be his running mate. I’ll bet the Republicant men who thought they’d be picked are mad, too-LOL!!

The only thing I ask is that we only hit SP with the facts, not commentary on her abstinence-only program which failed at home. The Christian right-wing fanatics would like nothing better than to portray Obama supporters as wrong for picking on poor SP’s daughter – how cruel! But no one does cruelty like a Repug, and they’d have no problem turning the tables on us!!

So only criticize SP on the things she has done, her policies (or lack thereof), and things like cutting funds for programs for teen moms.

Go Obama! Yes We Can!

I truly hope SP doesn’t undo all of the good that Hillary and countless others have done for women in this country. If Hillary had been the democratic nominee, it would have been the culmination of years of barrier breaking effort. Palin was plucked out Alaska by McCain. Last night when we saw those GOP’s wearing buttons about the “Babe” on their ticket, I cringed.

Hillary is an attractive woman. The reason there were no condescending buttons by the Democrats, relating to Hillary’s looks is simple.

Hillary is respected by her party.

Obviously the GOPs don’t really respect Palin.

As a former Hillary supporter and now an Obama supporter, I’m insulted with McCain’s choice of VP. She does not represent all women, certainly those of us with an ounce of compassion in our bodies. She has absolutely no concern for nature. I don’t care how often she bounces her baby on camera, and reminds us that he has Down’s syndrome, a blatant cry for sympathy. If she were a better mother, she’d have him home in bed with a sitter, not dragging him out for display at all hours. I’ve been in the special education field for over twenty years and I don’t buy her story. Do you think she sings him lullabies at night about all the animals she has had a part in slaughtering? She’s no role model for women.

I find it pretty hypocrital for the GOP and Fox news to call Michelle Obama, angry, mean… and Hillary shrill, yet hail Sarah Palin as a noble, kind, average “Hockey Mom”.

Honestly, I really enjoyed Palin’s speech, but it was a bit “over the top”, especially when she mocked community organizers. They selflessly help the same everyday, hard-working people that McCain said he admired, therefore I just don’t get that line of attack. Am I wrong?

I don’t think it’s up to Hillary. It’s up to women themselves. I told a co-worker today who was going on about what Palin was wearing last night (!) and how she thought she was funny, and you gotta give her credit. I felt like I was talking to an alien. Give her credit? For gaming male sexism to her own advantage, and now turning around and gaming feminism for the same purpose? For putting a female face on the war against women? For wanting to force me to bear my rapist’s child? For slashing funding for special needs children, which would chiefly affect women who don’t happen to be in her high cotton position? For being against equal pay? For being a global warming denier, as our planet marches on towards disaster?

How about i say, “Thanks, but No Thanks”.

You know, if you need Hillary to tell you all that, pack it in lady.

Yes, it seems like she’s pimping that special needs baby for the cameras.

I was a Hillary supporter, and frankly, was disappointed by the treatment of the Clintons from the Democratic Party. I decided I would be “undecided” until both Conventions had the oppotunity to “earn” my vote. With that said, I am not stupid! I don’t vote for a woman just because she is a woman. Hillary stood for something. She constantly brought up issues, and agree with her or not, one had to respect that she stood her ground. Sarah Palin has not had to even remotely DEAL with what Senator Clinton has dealt with . . . do you all remember when all the media could talk about was Hillary’s hair, suit, make-up, et al, et al. She survived it all, and continued her dialogue. She opened the door for many to walk through, including Sarah Palin. That does not make Sarah Palin Hillary’s equal. Sorry.

***********IMPORTANt: ON ANOTHER NOTE AND VERY IMPORTANT********** Dobson and Rove are at it again. They are planning a national day for pastors of fundamentalist churches to preach the same message (no doubt, that you only love your family if you’re a Republican) and ask their parishioners to vote for McCain. http://www.alliancealert.org/

Think about visiting church on 9/28/08 in your friendly little neighborhood – don’t be violent. Don’t be mean, but BE AWARE AND EDUCATED to what fear they are instilling in their congregations. Remember, most of these people are wonderful and BELIEVE they are doing God’s work by voting Republican. So brush up! Don’t fight fire and brimstone with fire and brimstone. Fight it with kindness and love and inclusiveness…truly the American way.

Palin Attended UI, 3 Other Colleges In 6 Years

Spring & Fall 1983: North Idaho College, Coeur d’Alene.
Fall 1984-Spring 1985: University of Idaho, Moscow.

Spring 1986-Spring 1987: UI, graduating with a Bachelor Science in Journalism/More from Spin Control 2.0.

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin attended five colleges in six years before graduating from the University of Idaho in 1987. That’s right, but, he would have just picked a black male. They were going to exploit any division that was in the democratic base no matter how that turned out. I said from the beginning, gosh maybe with the situation we are in, this is not a good year to pit half of the democratic base against the other half of it? Hate her politics, hate the Springer-esque aspect of her narrative, but give her credit for her successes. Do not underestimate Palin or Rove. She is a gifted populist politician and they may have been planning this launch since….say….late February.

In March, she mysteriously turned up 7 mos pregnant with a Down baby–the clincher on her evangelical appeal. Very convenient.

I wasn’t that surprised at Senator Clinton’s initial lukewarm response. There are still two months of campaign left. The Obama team launched a perfectly adequate immediate response re: fitness to take office if Gramps croaks; so there was no particular reason for Clinton to pile on that. Plus, in Palin’s introduction-to-the-world speech, she spoke almost nicely about Clinton.

So if Hill had counterstruck at full force, it would have had small impact, and would have opened her up to criticism that she was just jealous. So, she was — dare I say it — statesmanlike.

Now, however, Palin has opened fire on the whole bleeding Democratic Party — amazingly, with provable untruths. You might recall, back in the bad old days of the Dem primary, that Clinton made a remark along the lines of “Now it gets fun”. To my mind, that got WAY overinterpreted, and she got raked over the coals for it by Obama supporters; but what it means, I think, is just that she really does enjoy campaigning — you know, the thrust and parry and all that military and sports metaphor.

Well, now she gets to go into battle mode with basically nothing to lose. You remember her convention speech? She wasn’t even on the attack. I’m prepared to be entertained.

As an aside for those who wonder why she’s not already campaigning: it’s Senator Obama’s campaign. She has said repeatedly she do what they ask her to, but she can hardly take off on her own — not much message discipline in such a case.

Robert Reich has a most excellent post on his blog, “Vetting,” where he describes in great detail what he went through for a Cabinet post.

Here’s a snip (I’m sure Sarah did not answer #8):

Sixteen years ago, Bill Clinton’s “vetting” team asked me and other prospective cabinet members for (1) our tax returns, going back at least five years, (2) our bank records, (3) a detailed listing of our assets, (4) the names and places of everywhere we had lived, and the names and phone numbers of neighbors whom they could call about us, (5) a description of every job we had ever had, every client we had ever served, and the names of employers and clients with whom they could check, (6) the names of our family members, their ages, their occupations (if any), (7) a description of any civil or criminal investigations or prosecutions in which we had been involved (8) and – perhaps most importantly – “anything we should ask you about, the answer to which might cause you or the administration any embarrassment.”

What is it with the RNC? They are all about WAR and BATTLE and WAR and WAR and WAR. Holy Cow. . . these people. . . these people HAVE TO GO. Tomorrow I drive through Wasilla on a provisioning trip to that urban mecca, Anchorage, and instead of keeping my head down as usual to avoid looking at the tacky, strip-mall suburb, I’ll look around in wonder at the new center of national political mayhem. It’s simply amazing that a petty ex-mayor from this glamour-less town could ascend to a national podium in a heartbeat. Just to give perspective on Wasilla for non-Alaskans: when my community was putting together a comprehensive plan, the single unifying concept that crossed all political boundaries was to guide local development in order to “not become like Wasilla.”

Somehow this Palin farce has stilled my pen for the past six days. It just seems surreal. Republican leaders cum hacks repetitively tell their faithful minions, the pale and few at the convention, that Sarah is qualified and experienced. As if just saying it makes it so. By people who know nothing about her. And then the strategy becomes clear: in the absence of ideas, create an Alice in Wonderland fantasy to charm the media and galvanize right-wing zealots. Lacking substance, Sarah fills the chimera role perfectly. Only Paris Hilton could do a better job.

I won’t attempt to address the many performance deficiencies of this local vice-presidential character, for they are amply described in this blog and elsewhere. Yet I’d like to commend akmuckraker’s insight into Palin’s critical flaw: the self-interest that allowed her to accept the nomination. Any similarly qualified, sane individual would have declined, understanding their limitations and probability of failure. Not so Sarah, who is blinded by her own beauty queen (runner-up) image. I’d like to extend the analysis one step further, based on her actions. She is not committed to anyone but herself. That is how she can so easily abandon our state in the early days of her governorship, when leadership is needed to counter rampant corruption. When rural communities are wracked by huge energy costs that may threaten the survival of many communities. When crucial decisions need to be made to guide Alaska into a cloudy future.

A single thread unites all of the scandals besetting the woman: her ability to use power unilaterally to get what she wants. Is that leadership? Does anyone want that ignorant pretender to be one heartbeat from control of nuclear weapons? Unbelievable that it is even on the table.

And speaking of sanity, thanks for helping me keep mine despite the mind-boggling events, with this blog.

According to what I have read, Hillary will campaign in Florida, beginning Monday. Along with Debbie Wasserman-Shultz.

Game is Definitely On!

If we didn’t need her in the Senate so damned bad, now that John Edwards has literally screwed himself out of contention, Hillary would make a damned fine Attorney General.

We are going to win this thing. We have been here, done that. Palin is a minor inconvenience. She is a freak show. A curiousity. Nothing more, or less.

We need a veto proof senate majority, and a veto proof house majority, and we might get this country back on track.

She isn’t Thatcher. She isn’t Clinton, by a long shot. She is Caribou Barbie, complete with pony tail, and Ken doll.

Love the blog, mudflats. Truly fabulous.

This is totally off the subject of Hillary, or tonight’s speeches which I can’t bear to watch.

When exactly was Palin a member of the PTA?

From the LA Times:

“While her husband fished and worked in the oil fields, she moved quickly from the PTA to the Wasilla City Council, in 1992. Four years later, she bumped off a three-term incumbent to become mayor of the town, near Anchorage.”

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-mccainveepbio30-2008aug30,0,7956486.story

How could she have been on the PTA in 1992? Her son track was born in 1989. Was it some kind of preschool PTA? Am I missing something?

blah blah blah from the same old boys club

Last night, I only got half way through Palin’s ‘speech’ before I ran to the computer and for the first time, donated money to Obama’s campaign.

From last night: Obama/Biden $8Million
McCain/Palin $1Million (a cool million according to WSJ)
So I wasn’t alone.

I thought Obama handled himself with a lot of dignity today and even extended dignity to his opponents, which means he is a better person by far than me.

Two things we cannot forget:

– We cannot forget Hillary next time. The Democratic Party CAN NEVER AGAIN do what it did to Hillary, Bill and her supporters. If that happens, there WILL be a mass exodus. . . I don’t know exactly to where yet. . .

– Sarah Palin should be a non-event. I have more than enough faith in Joe Biden and his experience and expertise to hand it to her. She is a NON-event – do not let the Republicans take us from our core message: JOHN MCCAIN IS MORE OF THE SAME. JOHN MCCAIN HAS VOTED WITH BUSH 90% OF THE TIME. JOHN MCCAIN IS A PHILANDERER AND EMBROILED IN SCANDALS, STARTING WITH THE KEATING FIVE, FOR YEARS. SO THE REPUBLICAN BIG WIGS FEEL THEY OWE HIM – WELL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DO NOT. Last night or the night before I wrote that the fundamentalists have officially supplanted the last remains of any secular forces inside the Republican Party. Tonight, Andrew Sullivan wrote about the scary brand of fundamentalism we’re looking at here:

Since the GOP is now primarily a religious organization, it’s interesting to look at the theology of the brand of Republicanism that Palin comes from. Assemblies of God Republicans believe in sixteen fundamental truths, outlined here, including the Rapture. Since the GOP now holds that there can be no distinction between politics and religion, and that presidential debates need to be held in churches and moderated by pastors, it would be helpful to ask if she shares the views of the pastor of the church she grew up. To be specific: does she believe that Alaska will be a refuge in the “end-times” for the saved of the lower 48 states? He said that right in front of her. She didn’t seem in any way fazed.

My Vagina: What? But I’m my own me, shouldn’t I have that right to decide?
Me: No I’m sorry but even if you have that baby and should you so happen to have a baby with special needs she has decided that your baby really doesn’t need special education. She cut your baby’s rights by 62%.
My Vagina: I am so confused. But she has one of what I am shouldn’t I vote for her anyway. I mean come on….she’s one of us.

Freakout In Kansas

First, let me join in the kudos to this blog…highly informative AND entertaining!

I tuned in to Fox News to watch Obama tonight, only to find out that it was not going to be aired until next Tuesday….shoulda guessed, no way Billbo was going to let Barack conflict with Johnny’s big night, so instead I got treated to Newt Gingrich regurgitating all the standard talking points about Miss Wasilla 1984.

On to my story, though…my parents are staunch Republicans and are 84 and 85 years old. My father is is a WWII vet. They watched the Democratic convention and were impressed, but old ways die hard…they have a really hard time the way some people have been “disrespectful” to the president. They aren’t big Dubya fans, but they still feel that the president deserves respect, despite all of my heartfelt arguments.

Before the Republican convention started I talked up what a genius and political mastermind Karl Rove was and gave them the following quotes, suggesting that they watch the convention to see how well the Republicans implemented them:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the party* can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the party* to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the party*.”

“The most brilliant political** technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly – it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over”

“Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.”

“Intellectual activity is a danger to the building of character”

“…the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to greater danger.”

When I asked them tonight how they thought the Republicans were doing with their “game plan” they admitted that they were shocked by how closely it was being followed.

Of course, they thought this was the Karl Rove “playbook”….I almost hated to tell them that the first four quotes were from Joseph Goebbels and the last was from Herman Goering. (I took the editorial liberty of replacing *”state” with “party” and **”propagandist” with “political”).

I now think my dad will vote Democratic for the first time ever this year. My mom is still too set in her ways (and actually got a little pissed off at me for my “stunt”).

So…I now issue a challenge to all on this blog to try to change just one person’s mind from voting for John McCain and Miss Wasilla 1984 to voting for Barack Obama and Joe Biden!

We must defeat the Talibangelicals and Palinstines! The future of the world depends on it!

And to all a goodnight….I gotta go have a drink (or two) to fortify myself in order to watch McScary.

Peace,
Jay

Merlin, ‘
Glad you are writing now. Local perspective is SO valuable. It is so George Bush- WMD’s, Katrina excuses and promises, etc. to tell a lie “as if” it is so until others believe it (and perhaps you come to believe it too, depending on your contact with reality). The only way it works though is if the sheep can be lulled into following without asking too many questions, without thinking too deeply.

Marzapan,
I asked similar question about this PTA deal a few nights ago on one of these endless streams…I know it is a little lie, but it is SO about their partly FICTIONAL NARRATIVE…she was a city council member when the oldest two were 1 and 2 so the PTA participation (whatever she did in it) does not make sense until she was moving on towards mayor. So, just don’t imply your political career (didn’t she call herself the accidental politician) began so earnestly in the PTA (just here to serve, no self-interest, mind you). It is so strange that lies can be spun into truth.

With the wonderful Iraq film at the DNC, and the fact that Iraq holds no traction for McCain anymore, do you think that is why they oped for the 9/11 film?

hillary is old news. A hag. A hypocrite. An advocate of socialism. And a self serving polititican that did not have the fortitude to divorce herself of the biggest piece of baggage associated with her.. her husband. She has always made the smart political decision to divorce herself from any other political liabilities, except the biggest liaBillity… Bill. Had she done so, it would have shown women that look to her as a role model what a strong woman really is. Instead, she stays in a marriage that is a joke, with the only president ever impeached, carpetbags to NY, and is surprised that she is not nominated? Golly Gee Whiz… thought she was smarter than the turnip that fell of the truck.

Siege:

Thanks for the welcome. It’s not really like Bush or Joseph Goebbels, if you’d like to go to the expert at turning lies into truths. This repub effort is to create a complete fantasy land unrelated to reality, where fascists are huggable, community organizers are irrelevant, and Our Country is sacred.

Let’s hope, no: let’s work to leave the retros in their fantasy.

Dear Pudd…I am so sorry you are so sad and angry — if you see anything here that gives you HOPE for the future, I encourage you to seek out more information on Senators Obama & Biden…or, go away. This is not your venue, Not your audience, not your hope for a better future for you or your children. But I don’t understand why keeping a marriage intact after an infedelity angers you so — McCains’ infidelity is AWESOME (?) but Clintons’ is a joke? I encourage you to check out the stats on divorce for Red vs. Blue states. I think your jaw may drop.

Palin’s husband was a registered Alaska Independance party member..This reminds me of a story about Michele Obama..Didn’t the repubs question her patriotism? I think a person that wants to make Alaska a sovereign nation is giving people the permision to question their patriotism

First time here. Love your comments, Mudflats. You see things through my eyes and write decently well. High praise.

Couldn’t believe SP was looking down on the Dems for not taking advantage of all of Hillary’s hard work over the last 18 months. This coming from someone who had been elevated to that position by a man waving his magic wand. (No, not that one. Get out of the gutter!)

If she lasts that long, I can’t wait for Joe Biden to get his teeth into her in a debate. McCain has shot himself in the foot with SP. And he’s got more ammo and is aiming at the other foot.

My Mother just sent this email to Alaska’s Senator French.
I did likewise and hope some of you will too.

Senator, I am writing to encourage you to move quickly with your report on Sarah Palin. Democrats across the country are watching and hoping you’ll do the right thing.

I don’t know why, but something just doesn’t feel right about this person. With Carl Rove in the mix, it just doesn’t feel right. He is a skate to the highest degree.

The whole world is watching us – the whole world is depending on the United States to change its approach to foreign affairs. This election is too important to have a weak, inexperienced, uneducated, dishonest person one breath away from the presidency.

Thank you for your bravery and hard work.
Sincerely,
Your Name Here

Love this website the way an addict loves dope–since I found you time has stopped and so have my chores. Looks like we have a splintering tonight between the “let’s get to the real issues” crowd and those fascinated by personality and sex. BTW, do you think she seduced McCain to claw her way to the nomination? Guess you know which crowd I hang with. Anyway, it’s helpful to think of the campaign as an application for membership in a club–the imperial elite club of D.C. The corporate media act as gatekeepers to make sure they can work with the applicant to get the material they need to stay relevant and important. Then they make the decision as to who they’re going to push, and they sell the candidate to the public. Party affiliation is only a minor consideration because there’s really only one party anyway–the Party of the Incumbents. Obama has screwed everything up because he’s playing this campaign straight with no inside connections except through association (hence the Biden pick) and he knocked out the presumed winner. McCain would naturally be their second choice because he’s been sucking up to them for years, but he’s getting a little old for the part. His impulsive decision to put a young blow-up doll on the ticket seems to be backfiring because serious journalists and various other members of the media are starting to worry that she’s trailer trash who would make them look silly when she opens her mouth. If it’s true that Fox News outed a lie in one of McCain’s spots today, look for them to try to ease her out with the drip-drip-drip treatment. Hey you Alaskan fishermen and hunters, give us lower 48 flatlanders a heads up. Will she go gracefully into that good night?

Nah, a real woman like Hillary won’t go after the moose cream puff — she’ll go after McCain. Using someone like Hillary to attack Palin is like using a sledgehammer to kill a fly. It will demean Hillary.

Look gals,

As a woman I have to say this. I am voting for the Obama/Biden ticket.

I cannot stand by and let the McCain/Palen ticket get even close to the white house. This is really personal for me as a woman. Palen has taken a stand that would ban abortion in the case of rape or incest. It is quite possible for her to assume the presidency if McCain is elected and determine the make up of the supreme court for the next 20 years, among other things, like vetoing every bill that comes across her desk, controlling all of the heads of departments, commanding the milatary, and the list gets worse. She has shown no support for equal pay for women, for broad access to health care coverage, for worker safety protections, for public education, for public libraries, for higher education, for environmental protection. What in the world does she have to offer American women but grief?

To me she comes across as someone who cannot be trusted in a position of such power-precisely because of the way she has used the positions of power she has had up to now. The firing of the librarian, only rehiring her back under threat of recall, apparently, the firing of the agriculture board over the dairy, all this signals that she would be a dangerous and tragically unsuited person to occupy the highest executive office in the United States.

I’m sorry, but I refuse to accept this. I feel it is a direct attack on American women. (Not to mention on the men we love, and on the children we love.)

I don’t think we should count on Hilary or anyone else to fight this battle for us. Anyone who wants to join in fine, but this is one battle American women need to fight themselves. Noone should be allowed to drag us back 200 years for their own gain.

I’m mad as hell, and I’m not sitting this one out!

Kudos to everyone donating to Obama’s campaign! Remember too, we can also volunteer for the cause and help that way. The first election I ever had the chance to vote in was back in Bush’s first term. I didn’t. Didn’t even register. Didn’t even care. I regret it to this day and have made the extra effort to vote since. It great and all to be angry and aware of what’s going on, but we still need to get our people involved and VOTING.

And on a side note, does anyone else think it’s odd that McCain is so buddy-buddy to the GOP after the horrible way they treated him earlier? I mean, if he’s such a maverick, why not go independent? Especially after they taunted his POW experience in Washington by wearing little purple band-aids.

NO COMPARISON between these two women other than they are both female.
Begin with education and ending in character. I can’t imagine anyone thinking this woman could fill the shoes of Hillary Clinton. Being a woman does not equal stuped. We read and WE GET IT! I have to lower myself to just one tacky female point of view that I know Ms Palin will understand….OMG, get your hair done….geez.

I am sorry that we had a gruelling primary that coiuld have destroyed out affiliation. As democrats we fight amongst ourselves, but when push comes to shove we are smart enough not to fall for repubs antics. I was disgusted about the primaries, but not as much as I am about their VP choice. As Hillary put it “No way, no how, no Mccain”. I am happy that i can now focus on what is right, and it isn’t McCain-Palin. I will be voting for Obama, and we will win. Let’s show them repubs we mean business. Palin does not represent me. I am a strong woman and I would never use my family, nor my sex (and I use that loosely) for political gain. We have come too far to be set back 100 years by a “Hot chick for VP” liar. See you at the polls.

Obama will definitely win but McCain naturally isn’t playing fair. He has now had his camp of lawyers pull YouTube videos of Sarah Palin that show her obvious inexperience. They even went so far as to pull the SNL skit, which is horrible in my opinion. As many vioaltions as there are YouTube, this reeks of politics and the fact that the McCain camp are trying to force the America people into voting for this inexperienced bitch! Yeah I said it – BITCH!
